Villa- Liverpool; A sneaky feeling

It doesn’t get much tougher than this does it?
Liverpool are in my opinion, are the best side in the world at the moment and I firmly believe they’ll win the league.

So after sticking a fiver on them to beat Spurs (and losing), I think they’ve probably just had their worst run they’ll get for the rest of the season.
I know, they dropped two points is all.

Still, it proves that they are not totally invincible and you can get something against them.
We do have it in our favour that we only got beat 1-0 on their turf last time out and I don’t need to mention the major arse-kicking that we gave them, so maybe Klippety will be more cautious than usual?
Then again, I doubt it. He doesn’t do that, does he? and it’s probably why Liverpool are everyone’s favourites from the top however many clubs.
They play cracking football.

Squad news and on our part, Jacob Ramsey is still out. I’ve already said I’m not bothered by that. Is it a coincidence that we looked miles better without him on Saturday?
Kortney Hause is also out, as is Leon Bailey, our latest sicknote.
Gerrard has said that the squad will be very similar to that against Burnley.
Which makes sense. Why change what worked well?

Liverpool have Klopp moaning as per usual about the squad, but the actuality is that they’re in good shape and Roberto Firmino might well make it after being out for a good while. Otherwise, they have no issues.

Liverpool might look a bit down and out now they lag Man city for the title race and they have a cup final at the weekend, but I don’t think for one minute they’ll play a weakened side. Even if they did, it would still be seriously strong and probably enough to beat us.
Even so, I have a feeling and that’s all it is, that we might actually beat them.

I can’t back my feeling up with anything at all.
Liverpool have by far the better team and should beat us easily.
But it doesn’t always work like that, which is why we all love footy, isn’t it?

I’m going for a hopeful 1-1 as my realistic prediction, but you just never know.
I think I’m going to stick a tenner on Pool to win. Well, it’s a numbers game isn’t it?

Here’s hoping and UTV!

Brilliant wifi here, so I don’t even have to bother going down the pub 🙂

  2. Maybe there’s some logic to go with that gut feeling…
With the league probably just slipped from their grasp are the players going to go full pelt with an FA & a Champions league final on the horizon?
Risk injury and miss one or probably both?
Maybe it’s clutching at straws but fingers crossed we could get something from this.

    My head thinks the following:

Can we repeat last season at home against Liverpool? No

    Will we win? No

Will we draw? I doubt it

My heart goes for a draw.

Our outcome tonight will depend upon Nakamba protecting the back line. This is a tough match to get back into the swing immediately.

    Come on Villa!

Buendia dropped, quite annoyed about that.

But predictable Guest if Gerrard is trying to persuade Coutinho to stay. Notwithstanding his apparent bias towards Coutinho is concerning.

I agree that Buendia is unlucky not to be starting but when, not if, he comes on he’ll be more than fired up.

Incentive is play really well and you will be dropped 🤔

ASTON VILLA: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Nakamba; McGinn, Douglas Luiz; Coutinho; Ings, Watkins

SUBS: Olsen, Chambers, Chrisene, Young, Iroegbunam, Sanson, Chukwuemeka, Buendia, Traore.

    That’s terrible.
So much for being chosen for how you perform.

Coutinho had better have a blinder, else Gerrard will get pelters.
    With that, we’ve just scored

    Get in, 1-0!

  10. That lead lasted long haha! Both defences have had a shocking start. Looks like an entertaining game though but think we will end up losing to be honest.

Is Steve Gerrard sabotaging our Aston Villa he’s cost us Carney by not playing him saying those who don’t play as good as he was they are out all these players he’s trying to get in on big wages what about fair play who’s going to pay their high wages

We have actually torn Liverpool to pieces at the back more than once.
There’s still someting in this for me, although I can’t get a bet on.

    It’s just shockingly bad refereeing.
I’d even go so far as to say I suspect there’s money at stake.

Liverpool on top as the half wore on – we need to keep the ball better.

Coutinho not really having any influence on the game; would like to see Buendia on.

Doesn’t help though given the assistance the ref is giving Liverpool.

Even the BBC are banging on about the poor reffing.

  25. Holte avatar

Some of the worst refereeing I have seen. He might as well wear a Pool shirt second half. Mings with his usual blunder to gift wrap their equaliser. Ings should have buried his header but overall not the one sided affair I expected. You get the feeling that they will dominate the rest of the game though.

We’ll come out quick out the blocks but fade and they will dominate.
