I really don’t know what to think about this one.
If you’d have asked me before the Palace game, I’d have immediately said we don’t have a hope in hell of getting anything today.
But it’s amazing how even a solitary win can change your thinking isn’t it?
Not that I’m suggesting we’ll get the win against Leicester, but Bournemouth managed to hold them to a goalless draw at the King Power last week, so that sort of result is certainly not impossible, which is more my point.
Certainly I got the Palace prediction completely wrong, but even then I added the caveat, where it’s a funny old game, where anything can happen.
Onto squad news then and we have Grealish, Sanchez and Gabby all available.
I can’t see Gabby getting in the side unless he’s wound his neck in and something’s changed, although you never know. Garde might well give a shot at putting himself in the window, perhaps.
More realistic is one or possibly both of the other two coming in, just to give other players a rest.
Hutton’s still out with a hamstring problem.
As for Leicester, Jeff Schlupp is definitely out and Matty James is close, but it’s too soon.
I thought Vardy was injured, but it seems he’s ok and that has to be a concern for us.
I suppose the talking point is probably the link with Marc Albrighton, who came out yesterday saying how bad it was watching our demise (good lad).
It’s probably a bit much to hope he has a shocker today, with the aim of doing us a favour, but it would be nice wouldn’t it?
Ex players playing against us always worries me, as they often do well, but I’m happier that we have Cissokho to counter him, as I think Albrighton would run rings around Richardson, for example.
So while I think an actual win is doubtful, a draw definitely isn’t in the realms of dreamland.
Which would be a pretty decent result, in my opinion and one I’d take.
Of course, a win would probably have us dreaming of Europe again.
Or maybe just survival would be more realistic.
More important is that I want to see the fight and desire we demonstrated midweek, continue.
I’ll go for a 1-1 draw, which is maybe ambitious these days.

So Villa v Leicester was the WORST EVER prem match…fast forward to Sunday…pick any 1 from 2 for the VERY WORST EVER.
I’d love to know why the media hate Villa so much, that’s of course when they can ever be bothered to mention us. If you are not sky 4 then they don’t seem to care.
The Saturday sky pundits make me angry. When they talk about the potential relegation of teams like Newcastle, Sunderland or Swansea they do so in a seemingly professional manner yet when it comes to Villa they can hardly hide their grins and giggles. I still remember during our plight last season with Stirling and pals blatantly laughing at us.
It’s the same with Talkshite and MOTD, the whole lot so bias and just regurgitating the same old lines about us as though they are an authority on Villa, when in actuality they couldn’t care less about the club.
I’m just sick of it all!
UTV
Agreed Deferenz – the least they could do is show some respect to the club and the fans.
We all know we’re a poor side but laughing at us is despicable and shows a complete lack of class – worst of the lot is Lawrenson.
Staying up is pretty nigh on impossible but I’d love us to do it so we can wave two fingers at that lot. Oh well, dream on.
In lawro’s bubble of a world Liverpool are the only club in this country, what a snake jerker.
In all fairness to media when Mon was here we were everyone favorite 2 nd team, if Lerner had right people then and got the commercial side right we wouldn’t be in the mess ,fatty Faulkner and who was kit maker plus shirt sponsorship,
The media have every right to laugh at villa and Lerner in particular who couldn’t run piss up in a brewery worst run club in premier league history Leeds got to champion league semi final,Portsmouth won fa cup,Lerner won fuck all god even Wigan won the cup
Not far off the mark JVillan, came about with players wage cuts, cutting corners on sponsorships god only knows on what else, we got ourselves disliked trying to change our way in buying and selling. The name Aston Villa was feared to all clubs we played, just listen to commentators and the way they speak about us, I knew something was wrong when players wanted out ,Barry, Milner,Young, Deph, Benteke, many more earlier they could see the club going nowhere,. Now its being seen by the way sponsors don’t get boxes and advertise in our club.
Shame its come to this.
At least we can all be happy knowing shirt sales are on the increase.
Would that be half price Stubbs?
Sky saying Abonglahor, Grealish, available for Wycombe game, I wonder.?
Wasn’t shabby & grealish available for the Leicester game????I can see REMI putting out a strong lineup tomorrow if so that wouldn’t Inc those 2.
No Giddy Grealish cold not fit, Abonglahor leg strain, with what’s going on mate you cannot predict, it could even be shop window time.
Only point I faulted Sherwood on Saturday – he went on about how important Shabby is and we should look after him – really?
Sherwood really rated him as he made whilst being spurs boss his defenders job a nightmare those games must of been on a good day.the players SHITE now.
How you doing Giddy mate; all a bit gloom and doom and the missus has me on three days a week without alchohol!
I’m fine MATE as for your predicament that’s why I’m single not a day goes by without a tot of something.GET IT DOWN YER 😀
Dear oh dear, did I do wrong then? 55 years and I’ve never let her tell me i can and cannot. Im the boss when she’s not in. Lads it works.
That’s the point Bill – ‘when she’s not in’! Being unfair – she’s OK and always collects me from the station after a boys day out in London – even when I fall asleep and miss the station.
Bit late for me after 44 years in shackles! 🙂
Hitch, they love us. mine always with me. Took her out once to Villa park said she didn’t want to go again. I often wondered why?
Mine always went to Villa with me when we were younger, even after the first kids arrived. Saw some great games together including the LC semi final win against manure and the never to be forgotten 5-1 defeat of Liverpool. Doesn’t go anymore – says it’s too cold. With the way we are playing, can’t say I really blame her
My wife never went to Villa games when we lived in England. I coach in the US now and my oldest son (27 now) played for Real San Jose, a local semi-pro team. My youngest plays at a high level here (he’s 15), but it’s so far short of the professional leagues in Europe it’s embarrassing. I coached in England and Germany, so I have good data points.
I think the league will grow here in the US now (Man City own a team in New York, and Beckham has the green light for his team in Miami). CR7 is now talking about playing in the MLS, and apparently Ashley Cole has signed for LA Galaxy.
I’m not promoting the MLS because it’s actually shit quality, but it’s a massive potential market for FIFA.
Good post SMJS
Interesting link, and very close to the truth…

Sammy, best of luck with the kids mate, ive got two grandkids boy girl, the girl plays for Coventry young ladies, the boy is at WBA coaching academy being assessed. Its good to see that the USA are leaning toward our great game of football, what’s the chance you could get Lerner to clear off from Villa . That link was interesting and the truth as far as I can see.
Swansea beating Watford. 1-0
i’m not bothered with other teams now. I have spent the last 5 years looking at other teams results.
win half our games on the run in and we stay up if not we go down simple.
I can’t stand gabby cos of his lack of effort but he does turn up for 3 or 4 games a season. now would be a good time wba coming up. he is supposed to be a villa fan.
and if grealish pulls his finger out it could be like having 2 good signings.
we will see.
