Villa – Leeds; Well the Leeds fans are confident.

That they’re going to lose, that is, according to what I’ve been reading during the odd chances I’ve had to look at the internet today.

How times have changed.
For the last few seasons, Leeds have been at least challenging, but it seems this season, it’s only their form in the first month that has kept them out of serious danger.
Their current form is the stuff relegation is made of and the team shows no backbone and fight, even if they take the lead.
All sad stuff and reminiscent of us not so long back.
Things aren’t helped by the fact that Leeds have around ten first team players out and they’re down to the squad’s bare-bones.
Things are so bad that I’ve seen Leeds’ fan’s predictions of a 4-1 win for us.

Which should bode well, shouldn’t it?

Except we’re the Villa and things rarely go that smoothly.

I see there’s mention that Bruce might change things up for this game and while it would be nice to see some of our upcoming players getting a game, I wouldn’t bank on it and I don’t see him changing much.
Kodjia will probably get another half hour, if he doesn’t start.

While on the face of things I ought to be predicting an easy win, we all know that we can sometimes seriously struggle against weaker sides.
And every time we go on a roll, so it seems the team have a penchant for giving us a kick in the teeth.

Hopefully that won’t happen tonight though and I’m going to have to go for the win.
I certainly don’t think it’ll be anywhere near straight-forward though.

A hard-fought 2-1.
Which will do.

  1. 1 Sam Johnstone
27 Ahmed Eissa El Mohamady Abdel Fattah
    5 James Chester
    3 Neil Taylor
    15 Mile Jedinak
    10 Jack Grealish
    18 Josh Onomah
    6 Glenn Whelan
    7 Robert Snodgrass
    22 Jonathan Kodjia
    45 Lewis Grabban

    Substitutes

31 Mark Bunn 16 James Bree 4 Veijeany Christopher Samba 8 Henri Lansbury 37 Albert Adomah 9 Scott Hogan 14 Conor Hourihane

  2. And as expected, not a sniff of our kids.
The only chance they’ve got of getting a game under Bruce is if we don’t get promoted and retain him next season 🙁

  3. Taylor and Onomah both poor players and have contributed mistakes all season. Would have liked Bree start as he played well second half against Cardiff. Also why not Lansbury instead of Onomah? After all he is heading back to Spurs (hopefully) and Lansbury is a signed player. I think it will be 2-1 Villa although it could be a QPR after the Lord Mayor show!

    1. Agreed re; Lansbury.
I wonder if he’s had a fallout with Bruce?
If not, he must look awful in training.

      1. Important we don’t pick up injuries. We are light in numbers in defence and need our key players like Grealish and Kodja to be 100% ready for playoffs.

  4. Well I’m chasing the wrong post not received this new one yet, Holte66 I think that , two weak player’s , and I hope Jedi has a good game other wise trouble for us. Ok is about to start looks like a full house again. 2-1 Villa.

  5. I’m worried by Onomah – I really don’t rate him at all. Pleased that SB’s resting Adomah but it’s a gamble starting Kodjia. Not surprised at Jedi / Whelan starting.

Leeds only lost one of last 10 games against Villa so we shall see.

  6. Top of the league for goals from crosses…..and now one more…..bout time we put a decent one in.

  7. We’re a bit sloppy here. Another game there for the taking so hope we don’t blow it

    1. Good call DS – we’ve dominated but not really created the end product. We should win this but then we are Aston Villa!

  8. Since dropping out the prem we have certaintly got used to playing the ball around more and involving the keeper more something that id like to hope we stick too should we actually go up!

  9. Maybe should add that we should have been awarded a penalty for the challenge on Kodjia – definate push by the defender. Ref has made a few mistakes first half.

  10. Well we have a goal time for another, Ok we are in control but we need to improve on our left wing , can I say that we don’t have Hourihane and Thor I think we are better in the middle, its only my opinion lads.

  11. If only we had a couple of the young ‘uns to bring on and raise the atmosphere andpush us on to more goals and the points……going to be a nervous 2nd half if Leeds wake up.

  12. Leeds were terrible first half. You would think that they can only get better. We need to be more clinical up top.

  13. We’re utter rubbish and my review will reflect that, unless something changes.
