Villa – Bristol City; Nothing to be scared of

I meant to post before the Rotherham game, but just didn’t find time.
The basis of the post was that I was supremely confident, but was worried that anyone can become overly so.
There’s always a side that will catch you out and I really thought it was going to be Rotherham.
But we again proved our resolve and got the result, even though the odds were against us before half time.

Anyway, moving on to tomorrow, we face a very good side in Bristol City, who play decent football.
And from what I’m seeing, many fans are quite worried about this one.
I’m not.
Purely because, as I’ve previously stated, I think we can beat anyone in this league, no problem, the way things stand.
Of course, that’s a dangerous way of thinking, but I really do believe it’s true.

Squad news and the obvious one is that Mings is out after his sending-off.
Chester might be available, but I’m going to guess that Jedinak will start.

Bristol don’t seem to have any problems at all and it’s just a matter of which formation Lee Johnson wants to go with.

We have a very good record against Bristol and while I’m always worried about us being complacent, I really see us extending it.
Ok, on the face of it, we’ll have a weakened defence.
But I’m pretty sure that the confidence that is obviously running through the squad will see us through.
We have the ammo and the firepower, simple.

No doubt I’ll come unstuck with my prediction at some time, but my attitude says if you feel confident, go with it.

Villa to win 2-1.

Former Liverpool captain Tommy Smith, who helped the club to domestic and European success in the 1960s and 1970s, has died aged 74.

Known as the “Anfield Iron”, Smith had an 18-year career at Anfield, during which he won four league titles.

He scored in the 1977 European Cup final as Liverpool beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 to win the trophy for the first time.

Liverpool said that they were “deeply saddened” by his death.

R,I.P. Tommy, a player from my younger days and loved his style.

nice to see we have a match day post before the game lol i have a major hangover still trying to piece together last nights movements. todays game is one that i have been looking forwards to seeing. both sides need the win and both sides will go for the win. it should be a classic, seen a bit of them and they do move the ball around and high tempo.

some of our fans have had their digs at our fullbacks taylor for one and elmo but they have been really good in the recent weeks. notice how they are more wing backs rather than full backs this was how Walsall played and Brentford. smith has got two fullbacks and made them better in his system. i am glad we plumped for smith i liked his style, but i wondered if he could replicate that here. i knew it would be a long process. but man we are seeing he can and much earlier than i thought possible. i always thought he would need to bring in his own players in for the style and results we are seeing now.

todays match will be a villa win and by * to *

Don’t say it Nath, I’ve got very superstitious lately and promised myself not to give the score so I don’t upset myself. Yes I agree that both them player’s have improved lately and seeing pictures of them all having a good time together shows the club are as one. nice gesture Smith having his award with his coaches shows us things have moved on. Nath, as Giddy would say, get it down you mate life too short. Me, off on a ship in July where the drink is plentiful. Utv.

Woke up at 5am sharp for no apparent reason, wide awake, only been one thing on my mind since then, the game. Thinking about the line up, tactics, 8 on the bounce. Haven’t been able to accomplish anything other than making cups of tea.

It can only go one way can’t it? 3-1. Coyl

iam giving up drinking Bill, i cant handle them hang overs anymore. but hope you enjoy cruise with plenty responsible consuming of beer lol

i seen you posted a few on how our club are at one. and this is a major factor in our successes lately, we are so much better in all departments. but the togetherness has been first class, they win and lose together. nobody is blaming anybody, pointing fingers

smith continued this by accepting the individual award and turned it into a collective award that it should be. very nice touch

todays score i was going for 4 1 but just seen starting line ups and we have been hit. no grealish and jedi in defence. i change the forecast to 3 2 villa

You weren’t alone Badger but 6 weeks ago you were saying how terrible we were and how we couldn’t possibly win games as they approached. Now we can’t possibly lose games. Neither positions are true.

A win today would be amazing but it is not the end of the world if we don’t. Trust in Smith but tie up your camel.

Going to the game and hoping we can keep our good run going. Beating Rotherham means losing today won’t be disastrous but momentum is important as Fulham showed last season. Not going to make a prediction again. I will keep faith with my inherited superstition over the last couple of months. UTV!

I think that it will be Bristol who will be scared of us!

They’ve drawn two out of their last five and a draw wouldn’t be such a bad result for us if we can get maximum points against Bolton and Millwall. However, a win would be amazing as it would leave us two wins ahead of Boro, even if they win today against Hull, as our GD is much better and there will be just four games left.

I hope we go for it.

We know the 7 wins have coincided with Jack’s return. Now a massive test awaits. Are we a one man team or not?

we did good first half with forced changes made to out team. adomah had a great chance from saved effort from el ghazi. adomah rebound shot hit the post with the goal open. tammy and mcginn got in each others way from another great chance inside the box.

a few heated discussion in our team after i praised them for being a musketeer team lately.all for one, one for all ,el ghazi arguing with hourihane over a free kick.
