Villa 1 – 1 Brentford; Not again!

So once again Villa have drawn a game after we took the lead from a good Kodjia strike, only for it to be cancelled out by an 87th minute equaliser.
And quite simply, this isn’t good enough.

I said earlier that not winning today doesn’t mean the season’s written off just yet and I stand by that.
But we’re at least making things more difficult for ourselves, especially when you consider our next two games are Ipswich and Newcastle away; games I’d certainly expect to be even tougher tests.

We sounded like we probably edged the first half, but it seems Brentford were the better side in the second.
Again that simply isn’t good enough, given that we were the team at home. And no disrespect to the visitors, who were well worth their point, but this is Brentford, for god’s sake!

I listened to the commentary and you could tell the pressure was building after the hour mark and that same commentary became more and more repetitive about how we couldn’t expect to keep holding on and try and defend.
If the commentators can see this and keep harping on about it because it’s so obvious, you have to wonder what RDM’s thought processes are.
Surely he must be able to see what’s happening and it begs the question as to why he allows it to continue.
I wasn’t there, so I don’t know, but I’d expect him to be massively animated in the technical area and frankly doing his nut at the players.
I wonder if he was?

The salt was rubbed even further into the wounds when McCormack and De Laet had to come off injured.
I’m really beginning to question what’s going on when it comes to the fitness and conditioning at Bodymoor Heath.

However, I’m not going to let all this wind me up.
One thing I do know is, is that Dr Xia will not tolerate this sort of thing for long.
He’s already alluded to the fact that we shouldn’t be repeatedly doing the same things wrong and he will not leave it too long before he swings the axe.
He may have no choice anyway, as what was a noisy, supportive crowd in the first half became more and more tense and left RDM’s ears ringing with the sound of boos at the full time whistle.
It would seem the manager is fast losing the support of the fans.

I said upon his appointment that I thought he wasn’t the right choice, but I’m not going to crow about it and the fact is I would rather he sorted out this inability to win a game, as opposed to us having to go with another manager.

Last season we put many of our woes down to having fragile players, but surely we can’t use this as a reason now, as we’ve changed most of the starting eleven.
Whatever the reason we can’t win, RDM has to sort it out and quickly.
Because his days are already numbered if he doesn’t.

  1. De Laet is the worst person that could have got injured. If we’re back to Hutton or Bacuna I think we could get relegated.

  2. Am I overreacting or do we seem to be cursed with injury problems – Amavi now De Laet it’s very depressing given the choices at RB and no emergency loan period this year.

      1. Sorry Giddy, I was referring to Amavi being crocked for a whole season a few games after joining us to solve the LB problem – now exactly the same has happened to De Laet.

    1. Good call Giddy – RDM has been positive about him; now let’s see him perform for us when it’s needed, he can still win over the fans and he is a better RB than CH.

  3. If Richards could defend, he’d be 10 times better than Hutton, no doubt. But unfortunately he has the defensive talent of Hutton, ie: he doesn’t wanna drop back when he goes forward to actually defend. Bacuna isn’t a right back but is far better than either and has been quite good this season.

Obviously there’s no emergency loans anymore, but what about the free agents list? Even till January? A few older heads like Faubert, Hibbert, O’Brien, Tiendalli or Garic could work. Di Matteo and Clarke have experience with Bosingwa.

  4. this season is only just begun, but the pain of last season is still recurring, wounds unhealed are opening. we are so close to being a very good championship team, good enough for promotion. but also we are so close to a collapse again.

we need to stick together as fans, we need to ride it out and support the club, we can’t keep drawing parallels to the last nightmare, this season is not the same cowards of team. we have made so many changes we need to give the club time to gel. they will come good.

de laet is out then we replace with hutton or richards / bacuna all are not the fans favorites but we have to support the whole team. we have gotten so used to singling out players. we all do this. this team needs a break from us and lady luck. i still believe in this team and club.

RDM if he was responsible for the players recruited, then i think he deserves a break also. cos i think he has recruited well. i have only one criticism and thats the need to shut up shop after we get ahead, we are aston villa and we used to score when we want. we need to be ruthless and show no mercy. shut up shop is when the game has been won, not when you go a goal up.

  5. I see we’re on sky next week against Newcastle, also been looking for streams today and a couple have it down for the match.today’s result? 2-1 Villa.

  6. I see this game as a draw, the last two results knocked the stuffing out of me. If I see Westwoods name in the first 11 I will scream lol. Need to be strong today for 90+mins and no acting the bollox.

  7. oh 🙁 i just seen our fixture up on a few sites, one has 3 links i will try before watch ssns instead

  8. thanks bill 🙂 i found me a link 🙂

352 i like this system, it suits our players, bacuna and amavi both are suited and have been good. 3 center backs which started have looked comfortable, but for a few mistakes. two upfront kodjia and ayew. but grealish is the one this system suits most, he isn’t a winger but he does suit the middle of the 3 center mids 0/0 but overall good signs for me. we looked better than last out in 2nd half

  9. Nobodies missing anything. The worst half of football iv ever seen…..and we’ve seen a lot of shit
