Swansea Vs Aston Villa – Preview

The end of another disappointing season is on the horizon. One more win for Aston Villa will most likely mean another season in the Premier League. Aston Villa improved with a 0-0 draw last weekend against Southampton, previously Aston Villa lost 4 on the trot.

Swansea also improved last weekend by beating Newcastle 2-1 at St James’s Park. That win also brings Swansea nearer to survival. Swansea have failed to achieve the success of last season with both Michael Laudrop and Gary Monk struggling to bring the best out of their Swansea side.

In the previous fixture Swansea managed to grab a 1-1 draw at Villa Park. Agbonlahor and Lamah both scoring on that day. Wayne Routledge may face his former side. Routledge joined Aston Villa 2008 from Tottenham for a fee of £1.5 million. He was sold to QPR in 2009 for a fee of £600,000. Overall Routledge made 2 appearances for Aston Villa.

Team News:
Michu will yet again miss out with an ankle injury, this ankle injury has been ongoing throughout the season for Michu. While Chico Flores is still suspended following his red card against Chelsea.

Aston Villa will be without Joe Bennett who picked up an ankle problem during training. Nicklas Helenius has recovered from a thigh injury and it’s unknown whether or not he will be in the match day squad.

Match Facts:
Wilfried Bony has now netted 13 Barclays Premier League goals this season, eight more than any other Swansea player.
Grant Holt  has scored three goals in four Barclays Premier League games against Swansea; against no side has he scored more in the competition.
Aston Villa have conceded only 21 goals away from home this season, eight fewer than league leaders Liverpool (29) have.
Villa have gone three hours and 20 minutes without scoring a Premier League goal.
Aston Villa have won just one of the eight Premier League games that Christian Benteke has missed this season, netting only six goals in the process.
All three Villa trips to Wales in the Premier League have ended as draws; with two of those finishing 0-0.

Predicted Lineups:

Vorm
Rangel-Amat-Williams-Davies
Shelvey-Britton
de Guzman-Hernandez-Routledge
Bony

Agbonlahor-Holt-Albrighton
Delph-Westwood-El Ahmadi
Bertrand-Baker-Vlaar-Bacuna
Guzan

Match Prediction:
Swansea 0-0 Aston Villa

I just don’t know where the goals are going to come from for Aston Villa. Albrighton and Bertrand proved last weekend that we have two players that are capable of producing fantastic crosses. But we had no one at the end of them. Obviously Holt would be favourite to win a few but I think if Lambert wanted a mixture of pace and strength clearly Helenius is your guy. He scored both pre-season goals with headers and I reckon he’d do a good job, especially with both Weimann and Agbonlahor on poor form. Swansea will play well, but I don’t think they are nearly as good as a side as they were last season, but if one team had to win, it will be Swansea because they have a goal scorer in Bony.

Weizmann has done 1 good thing in 36 games and that was a fluke. How is he still getting regular games?

    1. Don’t get that either, lamberks faith is blind and pig headed, he has done such a shit job, turned us into such a weak team

  9. #HELENIUS avatar

And our tactics are to get it wide and whip in crosses, desperate for Holt type……So we bring on Robinson. Wtf. Delphs season is over, has looked exhausted from the first minute.

Shambles! Particularly in second half. The midfield players and absolute liability trying or failing to defend in their own area. Baker – disgraceful.

Shocking result. Would like to think Hull have one eye on the cup final next match, but they’re scraping for their lives (unlike us).
