Swansea 4 – 1 Villa; Another 4-1 loss!

I think that’s the third 4-1 loss we’ve suffered in the last few weeks isn’t it?
At least it wasn’t at home this time, but that’s really not much of a plus point.

For what it’s worth, I actually thought we played well at times and certainly around 15-25 minutes or so, we applied some nice pressure which resulted in a super cross on the run from Marc Albrighton (something I’ve always rated him as being very good at) and Gabby putting the ball in the net after Bony had taken the lead for Swansea.
It was certainly a deserved equaliser, but then we had a bit of a calamity from Guzan’s clearance which resulted in Jonjo Shelvey hitting an absolute peach of a volley from god knows how many yards out that left Guzan with no chance. The strike showed superb technique and for me, is up there as a contender for goal of the season.
I won’t pick on Brad there as it was just one of those wonder strikes.

We didn’t let our heads drop too much though and still battled on fairly well, although I had a sneaky feeling we wouldn’t get back into it.
Albrighton (my MOTM again) was whipping some super balls in and any decent striker would have probably had a hat-trick today (Bent anyone?) but nine times out of ten, there was nobody on the end of them.
Sod’s law says I took a toilet break for Swansea’s third goal, so I can’t comment on that.
But when I did start watching again, it seemed to me that the lads had just lost heart.

Then, when Holt came on for El Ahmadi and signalled a four up top, I basically gave up too.
Is it just me who thinks this is schoolboy tactics?

A penalty that you just knew Guzan wasn’t going to save rounded things off on a day where nothing really went right for us and left me despondent, as I thought this was one of the three games that we really ought to win. Just Hull next week left out of my three and I’ll definitely be going.
Not that I’m looking forward to it much.

While we huff and puff, we quite simply aren’t good enough. It’s as simple as that.
Please let this season end as soon as possible, with us getting enough to keep us up, so we can go again.
But please not with any of the current hierarchy. If we do go down and it’s looking very possible, even though I think we’ll scrape it, it’ll be their fault and will serve them right.

  1. Are you guys for real? It’s absolutely possible for 1 of the bottom 3 to pull off 2 wins in 2 games or certainly a win and a draw. If we can manage a point next week then we can calm down but until we see next weeks results we are well and truly in the thick of this relegation battle, lambert has broken a number of records so fare so why not the big finale?
I’m completely disgusted with the way us fans/ paying customers have been treated over the past 2/3 seasons. For the 4th time now we will be saying we expect a comfortable season. Good gracious why did we have to come so fare back? I personally think we are now in a worse position then when we first started this transition. We had a squad of high earners but why could we not keep hold of 2 or 3 of these to not rock the boat to much. Now we have a larger squad on yes less wages but with a complete lack of natural talent, now what? Oh yes we will now start bringing in some higher earners. This period of transition has gone on to long and we have seen not one sign of progress yet in fact it’s just been none stop disaster without an ounce of hope. What I expect from my team is the following and I find these to be perfectly reasonable.

3 to 4 highly rated quality players e.g. An aron Lennon or Milner standard.
1 or 2 highly rated and promising young players. E.g shaw or Barkley
4 to 5 solid squad players
A team pushing for to six
A young a proven to some level manager
A commitment from a owner. E.g a signing in the 10 to 15mill every other season.
    A director of football

Is this really to much for a company who makes a hefty amount of money from each one of us?

  2. Another depressing day goes by with Lambert as manager. I hope the very second that we are safe (if that actually happens) he will be given the boot.

It’s going to be one he’ll of a cauldron if we go behind, final home game of the season for fans to vent their anger.I expect a good turn out Saturday due to the importance of the game, guaranteed no Lerner but as for Lambert there’s no nowhere to hide.

  4. Fulham beat Stoke on Saturday i believe we are down.
The players ,with the exception of Albrighton, don’t give a shit.
Lambert will point to the loss of Benteke but thats bollocks you should never have to rely on one player.

    1. Agreed, although I think Albirghton only gives a shit because he wants to play for a new contract and once he gets it, he will stop putting in effort as well (like Weimann the year before).
Fulham v Stoke is massive as we know we aren’t going to get any more points, a Fulham win and as you say it is goodbye PL and hopes of new ownership. Maybe a glimmer for us that Mark Hughes might be motivated to beat his former side. That’s what our hopes rest on now.

      1. I think Lambert has knocked all the confidence out of Weimann. He alongside another striker in the middle would have been good. Unfortunately Weimann has been played wide virtually all season. He is a poacher not a midfielder come winger.
How do you think Ireland will play !!

Wouldnt it be ironic if bent scores the winning goal against stoke,I’m sure we’d welcome him back with open arms. 😉

Bent did us a favour against Hull with that narrow miss against Hull. If he’d have scored then Fulham would have got all three points and it would be even tighter down there.

oh dear, The guardian looks like its having a go at the villa support!
I absolutely agree with them on most points but its all irrelevant now.
Lerner is on his way out, Lambert too i would say,
it will be interesting to see though how long we give the next ownership/management

    1. Oh yea I remember riots down Witton lane to get rid of MON, what absolute tosh.

Gérard Houllier 9th? Was he bollox! We finished ninth under McAllister’s guidance but for the majority of the season we hovered just above the relegation zone and GH hardly endeared himself to the faithful with his antics at Anfield did he now?

And then Mr Lovejoy fails to mention Lambert’s record breaking 10 defeats at VP the worst run in 140 years and who’s record was it he broke?? Erm Lambert’s!That’s right he surpassed the previous record set by himself of 9.

And Mr Lovejoy then has convenient amnesia when it comes to Lerner’s appointment of that serial relegationist McLeish.

I think Mr Lovejoy ought to stick to the antiques and C81 I suggest you start your own blog – Lerners Luvies perhaps? That’s obviously where your loyalties lie.

That sure is one ill-informed article in The Guardian. Arsehole. (Lovejoy, not u BWS!).

Well looks like we are all wrong about Lambert. Brendan Rogers has taken a phrase from the Lamberk master class. http://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/2014/4/28/5661354/liverpool-24-year-title-drought-2009-2002-best-chance?

          1. Yep it’s an epidemic mate

  7. I just thought if we are hoping Hughes is going to do us a favour cos he left Fulham under a cloud.
There was a rumour at the time that he quit fulham for the villa job and then Lerner wouldn’t give him the money he wanted and took on Mcleish instead. Hughes ended up out of work for a while.
If so who would Hughes have the greatest beef with us or Fulham.

I can’t see how so many people here are so confident that we’ll stay up. We won’t get another point this season and relying on other teams is a dangerous game.

    1. Fulham have got win both their games mate away at Stoke and home to Palace, anything less wont do due to our superior goal difference.
Then Norwich at Chelsea and Arsenal – Cardiff at Newcastle and Chelsea? Nil pois.

Saying that we lose Saturday and Fulham win and it really will be squeaky bum time!

        No peas BWS?;)
Think your call on the predictions is right. That’s what logic says. It would be disastrous if it goes against us, but at the same time I can’t help but think we deserve it. Lerner has taken a massive gamble and it could so easily backfire on him (and us).

        1. Lol, no peas mate.
