Sad times at Aston Villa FC. We have the worst scoring record across the whole of the football league and probably the worst owner.
Lambert is breaking records left, right and centre of the worst kind and the powers that be at B6 seem not to be bothered.
Randy Lerner has openly said in the “Club Statement” that he wants to and is looking to sell. Now ok, he is saying that he wants to sell now but he has been cutting costs and putting unrealistic restrictions on his managers since 2010. For years now we have been falling in class and in quality all across the board with not one real football man present who would care about footballing matters.
The club is and has been on a massive downward spiral and Randy Lerner doesn’t seem to care one bit.
As I’ve said I think he’s been recouping his losses since 2010 and has probably clawed a big chunk of his investment and spending back at a cost to AVFC.
We have seen the team on the pitch fall in quality and I believe Martin O’Neil left because Randy Lerner had told him it was time to cap the money pot no more Champions League dream, budget players only.
I find what Randy Lerner is doing is ruthless with total disregard to our tradition, trophy success, size and of course AVFCs fanbase ie The 12th man.
Randy Lerner has shown himself to be a fake owner never present pretending to care with little scraps of money here and there which to me does not represent what a club the size of Aston Villa deserves. Randy Lerner is a crook, dismantling AVFC just to recoup his losses. He has disrespected the club, disrespected the clubs tradition, disrespected the clubs loyal fanbase praying on their loyalty to recoup his money spent.
He has also disrespected managers he has employed by restricting their funds in the transfer market and on players wages so they can’t do their jobs properly. Knowing the supporters will turn on the manager, not him.
Yes Paul Lambert has failed, yes Paul Lambert should be taken out of his misery as his footballing management career is well and truly over due to results on the pitch. The supporters have definately turned on the manager and want him gone but not much has been directed towards Lerner himself.
It was just a matter of time before his deceit was figured out by the supporters.
The club is a shambles from top to bottom rotten to its core the great pretender never present at a club he is supposed to care about. How many more managers, how much more of loyal supporters money before this crook decides enough is enough?
We, AVFC will be floundering in the lower tier of the football league before he decides he has recouped enough of his money in my opinion.
Lerner should respect the club, sell it at a loss to somebody who wants to love AVFC again and respect it. The only thing Randy Lerner respects at this time is money. Thats him taking it and not putting enough back in.
This club AVFC is dangling by a thread and the man who calls himself the custodian of Aston Villa, its gaurdian, is nowhere to be seen.
My Personal opinion is Aston Villa will be relegated this season but what portion of that will Randy Lerner take responsibility for?
We can say our squad is good enough, we can say it’s all Paul Lambert’s fault but the catalyst of our demise in my personal opinion is Randy Lerner.
Lerner out.utv

  1. The Birmingham mail has finally turned, bout bloody time, he can’t inspire, he has limited tactical knowledge and has taken the club no where, anything is better, laudrup, sherwood, mr blobby, blobby blobby blobby

  2. Brian McDermott, current Arsenal scout could be new AV assistant manager/first team coach. Future AV manager could be 68-year-old Fabio Crapello who attended Martin O’Neill’s last match at Villa-the 0-0 with Valencia if QPR don’t nab him.

  3. Good post JD sad Times indeed, the unfortunate demise of the club on field could be avoided but yet again we have a stubborn wanker of a chairman who isn’t prepared to load the gun.I don’t quite think this is the end of it just yet with all the media attention now & at last the fans displeasure so Im holding on to waking up one morning & he’s gone.oh what happy days

  4. Today the heat has finaly been turned up on Lambert , if no action is taken by the board then deserve everything they get . I have a sneaky feeling he won’t be in the dugout for the Leicester game

  5. Lerner will loose out on a minimum of 100 million if we go down. Due to TV rights, sponsorship and everything else that’s links to the club. Question is does he stick with Lambert, if so we are fxxked or get somebody in.

  6. I said what some American businessman are like and sorry to say he’s showed his colours, they are ruthless people, JD if I was you I’d send this off to the Birmingham mail, good post and great reasons as to let Villa supporters read how we all feel, the thing is most have just woken up to this idiotic manager, and the Birmingham mail are late in finding out, again good post regards Bill.

  7. Jay Dee,

Villa’s annual accounts for the year to 31st May’14 are due for filing by the end of this month, so we’ll be able to see just what the finances look like, and how much Lerner’s ‘investment’ was worth at that point. I’d be surprised if he’s actually taken anything ‘out’ of the club, but let’s wait and see when the accounts are available.

On the playing side, agreed it’s a complete shambles, and Lambert doesn’t know what to do. The proper thing would be to fire him; however the club have twice painted themselves into a corner: first with the contract extension last September, and more recently Fox’s statement that they wouldn’t change managers in mid-season [etc.] I can’t see either Fox or Lerner actually firing Lambert now without losing so much face and looking like complete and absolute idiots.

So in my view the remaining ways out are [1] Lambert does the honourable and resigns to spend more time with his family, etc., or [2] The club agree to put him on some sort of stress-related sick-leave for the rest of the season [at least] and meanwhile find a coach who can actually get some points on the board out of the remaining dozen or so games.

If Lambert is still in charge for the next league game, we’re down and out.

  8. R.I.P vtid 🙁 villa forever

its like a wake on here, any news from the decision makers ???

we are definitely going down, if things remain the same. even with changes it maybe too late. the game yesterday was painful watch. 🙁 i doubt i will bother to put myself through another one, the villa away fans should be refunded for their wasted time and money they deserve much better

        1. Yep, apologies.
The link you gave showed a 404, but just seen it on a search of the latest news on the site.
          Cheers.

  9. Ardent,
the accounts can say whatever they like.
The only time they will have to add up in this case, is when Lerner sells up, imo.

I’ve said it repeatedly; you can make the books look however you want by bringing forward or deferring or whatever, as long as it all adds up in the end. Even more so in the complicated world of football.
There’s nothing illegal in this, but the point is accounts can be very misleading, especially over a year or two.
And it’s not even as though Lerner has a legal/moral obligation, because it’s not a public company.

What’s beyond doubt, is that Lerner has put plenty in.
But at the same time, I agree with JD, in that he’s taking a lot more out than we realise.
I’ve mentioned the EXTRA £30m a season many a time, even though wages have been massively cut beforehand and since.
I find it very difficult to see that he’s not hauling money back, put it that way.

The shocking thing in this whole sorry tale?

I really don’t think Lambert will be sacked.
    I’ve said it previously, but I’ll reiterate my opinion;

Regardless of what you think of Lambert as a manager, he should be sacked on his record alone.

It’s this part that makes it sad, imo.

  10. The fucking joyous relief!!!!!!!!!! I still feel sorry for the bloke being made to stick it out.
OMG!!!!!! I’m high as a kite!!!!!!

    1. True but that’s also partly down to him wanting to stay. I mean he admitted he knew months ago fans wanted him gone, and yet decided to stick it out so that’s on him.

  11. Don’t want to burst your bubble guys, but that’s only one half of a bad partnership gone. Only hope is that this was Fox decision. If fatty was here it wouldn’t have happened. Let’s see who fox gets in though. Feel sorry for him to an extent but wouldn’t surprise me if the re hire McCleish ! Lol.
