Roy Keane Steps Down As Assistant Manager

Roy Keane has left the position as assistant manager of Aston Villa after admitting that he has found it too difficult to balance the roles of assistant manger for both Aston Villa and Rep. Ireland. Keane has been assistant manager for less than 5 months.

“Ultimately, my roles with Villa and Ireland and combining my commitment to these have become too much,” he said in a statement.

“It isn’t fair to either Villa or Ireland, so I’ve made this decision.

“I’d like to thank Paul for giving me a great opportunity to come to a brilliant football club, I’ve really enjoyed my experiences at Villa and I wish the management team, the players, the supporters and the Club nothing but the best going forward.” – Roy Keane

Many Villa players praised the impact of Roy Keane and his training methods, many players were also impressed and keen to learn from the experienced midfielder. It’s also believed that Keane influenced the transfer of Tom Cleverly.

“Roy came to me this morning and he informed me that, ultimately, the difficulty of combining both roles has prompted his decision, which I respect totally.

“In the brief period we have worked together he has been great in the role and I understand his reasons for leaving.” – Paul Lambert

Now Aston Villa have to find an assistant manager, there isn’t any information regarding who will take Keane’s place. But some players, such as Bacuna might welcome this departure as it’s believed that his limited game time was largely influenced by the arrival of Keane. Nonetheless, I reckon Keane did help the side mentally, especially at the beginning of the season. Our defence have become stronger and our players have appeared to be more committed at the back. His experience and presence have helped little with our attack, but overall I’m happy that Aston Villa were able to lure someone with the caliber of Roy Keane. I wish him the best

  1. Giddy you getting shitty again because we’re winning. You and your two love child’s (oohah and Bill Pearson) don’t like it when we win do you?

  2. Feck it. Poor positioning from Okore, bad luck. At least oohaah will turn up now and what odds do I get for him saying……”and still no 2nd half goal”

    1. Villa should have lost this.
Burnley have hit the post 3 times.
If their equaliser had come 10mins earlier then Villa would be losing now.
      Lambert OUT

      1. One of which was a handball…..do you forget the saves their keeper made? Draw was fair, Grealish could have won it for us. Move on.

  3. lambert out no shot second half can not sit back and defend one goal lead even against bottom sides, lambert cowering at back off dugout for last ten mins lambert out now

        1. Why? I know he was a bit different to Cole, as Cole tried to force things quickly while Grealish was a bit slower in using the ball, but he wasn’t bad in any way, other than his shot that should’ve tested the keeper, could’ve even taken a touch. He was behind a lot of what Villa did in control of the 2nd half until the last 10 minutes.

          1. thank you andrew this game was lost in the last 10 minutes. missed chances throughout the game and gabby’s inability to hold the ball when the pressures on didn’t help.
j.cole was decent shame hes not got the stamina to last

            1. Joe Cole will ever be more than a squaddie giving 20 mins here and there then he will be injured

          2. I’ve seen about 4 times and all the kid does is fall over and for a new kid on the block where’s his drive enthusiasm effort and application? Me thinks he’s believing his own press.
Perhaps he become the biggest thing since Bale but on what I’ve seen he’s more Ivor Linton than I’ve a got a massive future.

            1. If we can’t hold on and beat burnley we won’t beat anyone. Palace will batter us. Burnley will go down this year and we will be with them. Lamberk has to go now not tomor not next year now. If he dosnt we are down

    1. jvillan time to get the eyes checked out 🙂 your biased glasses, are in need for a stronger prescription.

      1. JV’s right, we go a goal up and that’s it shut up shop and try and hold on. That’s why we’ve scored 6 goals this season.
F**k me nath you’ve got to admit we should have the players and the nous to turn over Burnley and not to try sit back on a single goal? Surely we should go for it and put the game to bed?

  4. As fans figured, Robinson doesn’t come on, Gabby plays for 90 minutes and was useless in the 2nd half. We blow another lead and and yet another CB has to go off. Pathetic.

    1. Not as bad as Grealish the lazy b*****d, with that amount of effort & application (or should that be lack of) he’ll never make a footballer while he’s got a hole in his arse.

  5. We never ever punish teams when we are on top. We score one then sit back although the jobs done let the opposition build up a head of steam and suffer the consequences, we do it time after time. Will Lambert ever learn?

  6. Paul Lambert here, Thought we played well, Err was unlucky, the lads did me proud, Err think we was very good,A fan ran onto the. Pitch and kissed me. Think his name was Brick off newsandviews. 🙂

  7. well done lads. thats 3 unbeaten!! against 2 x top 4 teams, 1 x inform Burnley(away). all without 3 x CBs, both main strikers out and our best MF out injured!!
Cole and Hutton excellent. Benteke back on Tuesday. well done lads.
p.s its terrible that we just cant seem to lose with all those injuries and suspensions.

  8. BTW**** whingeing tossers on here should take a leaf out of our 4000 travelling fans, unrivalled, unconditional loyal support from start to finish.
do any of you whingeing tossers on here even know where VP is? NO, thought not!!!

    1. Hey why is my tele playing up? committedvillan have you Been weeing up my mast, love it mate, one day me and Giddy are having a drink together, one off them Shopshire lads me Arley.

  9. i think for the first 80 minutes, villa were comfortable and wasteful in the same breathe, the last 8 minutes they showed no bottle, or desire to see the game out, burnley should have won the game in the last 8minutes. points gained against hammers, saints.but this is points dropped.

our season and hopes are firmly on benteke shoulders,if he doesn’t recapture the form of the first season we are doomed i fear R.I.P VILLA

  10. commited are you being serious? 3 unbeaten like its some sort of master stroke? We haven’t played Real Madrid Barcelona and juventus for gods sake. These are so called lesser teams and we haven’t even put in a good 90 minutes. It’s a shambles mate top to bottom. You can try and be positive about another step closer to relegation all you like but don’t start criticising people on here who don’t like the way the club is run and week after week see shit performances were only voicing opinion. Yes some players have looked good I.e Hutton. Also Cole looked a cut above all our players today but that’s not good enough In my eyes.

    1. yes, deadly serious. name me other teams that have not lost to to eithe West Ham, Saints or Burnley with an equivalent amount of injuries as us? we are not too far behind Liverpool who have had 1, yes just 1 injury of any significance.

      1. west ham and saints can beat anybody on their day. but todays opponents can’t be mentioned in the same breathe as them, even with injuries we ought to be beating the burnley’s, leicester’s and palaces

i think the only thing positive out of today was coles display. added much needed quality in the dangerous areas

  11. can’t believe you dopey idiots haven’t realised commitedvillan is indeed LANGFORDVILLA. How thick some people are on this site is soooooooooooooooooo funny.

    1. ‘I’m a lady ‘ ho yea of course you are commitedvilford but which lady though Emily? Florence? or is Bubbles DeVere?
