Ron Vlaar Now Officially A Free Agent

July 1st has rolled around and not only does it mark the opening of the summer transfer window, but Ron Vlaar’s contract has no officially expired. Vlaar was offered a new contract at the beginning of July but he has yet to sign as he wanted to consider other option and has also been busy the last week touring India and helping kids in need. At this stage it looks rather unlikely that Ron Vlaar will sign a new contract with Aston Villa and he is free to join any other club he wishes too.

It’s unsure as to why Vlaar is yet to sign, perhaps the contract that the management had offered wasn’t good enough. Perhaps Vlaar wanted one last challenge before retiring at a Champions League team? Whatever is the reason Vlaar’s presence off and on the pitch will be missed because he is a good leader, a quality player but most importantly he is a very good human being who often contributed to the community and participated with several Acorns projects.

Vlaar arrived in 2012 for a fee of £3 million and will most likely join the likes of Weimann, Lowton and Bent who have all left as well.

  1. Thank fuck for that! Should never have picked him for the Cup Final. Not better than Clark, Baker, Okore or Richards so no great loss!
