It’s only a quick one, but it’s something I’ve often thought about too. I’m really not convinced the plan to rebuild solely the North stand has ever been the solution and it should be the Witton lane that should be rebuilt too, even if it means you have to pay the residents on that side loads of bunce to accept being kicked out.
I just don’t get the idea of the North stand. It used to be where the opposition fans went and you abused each other and supported your club. While it’s better than it used to be (I remember sitting up there in the 90’s and it was bleak) it’s still not good imo.
Rebuild the North stand and then build a new Witton lane at the same height.
But most importantly, don’t wrap it. Retain the seperate stands, because that’s what people like about Villa Park, I think. It’s traditional.
However, here’s the view that made me post this;
“Apparently there are now 30,000 fans on the waiting list for a season ticket, my uncle has reliably informed me. Despite being a season ticket holder, he hasn’t been able to get me two tickets together for the Burnley match so I won’t be taking my 6 year old lad to his first game. Very disappointed and the little man will be gutted.
I’ve said it before, but going through all the rigmarole of redeveloping the North Stand for only a 15,000 increase in capacity seems mad! Go as high as you can behind the goal and wrap it with the Doug Ellis, I say! In fact, why not do it in two stages: the North Stand massive two tier development first (as big as it will go), followed by the levelling of the Doug Ellis and another two or three tier monster to join it! Leaving the iconic Holte End and Trinity Road as stand alone landmarks. A perfect balance of tradition and modern progress. St James’ Park is a very good example, with the massive redevelopment wrapping with the lower original stand. 55,000 is not enough and limits the club’s seemingly unlimited potential!!
I want some tickets! 🙁”
No energy – think Villa are hitting a wall similar to Newcastle.
Send him off!!!!!
Ben Mee is a f’kin disgrace.
Ben Mee, otherwise known as “Fuck” surely has to go off for that?
Scumbag Ben Mee trying to cripple another of our players. 🤬🤬🤬
Brentford have been a bit grubby in their dealings today.. Come On Villa!!!!!!
Moreno!!!!!!!!
They have, Bum Bum. But we’ve f***** them, nonetheless.
“Who the fucking hell are you?”
That’s who we are mate.
Have that. Moreno 1-1
Ollie!
2-1!!!
Come on!
Is it me, or is Luca Digne today’s referee?? 🤣
I think he’s a ringer for Shaun Hughes (:
Ollie let himself down there, imo.
Why would you want to disrespect your old club’s fans?
Poor, even if they had been giving him stick 🙁
Personally, I love it, Badger. Shows we’re not a soft touch anymore. There’s a don’t f*** with us attitude and I love it. Long may it continue!
And don’t forget the context of the match; they’ve really tried to rough us up today!
OOOONAI! OOOOONAI!
Mee has always been a dirty sod and got his cumuppence – Brentford have played well but Mee has let them down big time.
Brentford are just kicking our players now
Exactly, Hitch.
Totally with you on that Badger. We could have lost Konza for 3 games because pass that
How can a player blatantly run into Martinez and not get a red? That’s shocking.
As for Bailey’s backpass, jeez.
Now they’re throwing themselves to the ground!
Oh dear…
Brentford are fucking disgraceful.
Pantomime season is upon us 😁😁🤣
I have to say that win is AT LEAST as big as the last two! Gritty.
This is farcical.
How does the boss get a yellow for being peacemaker? 🙅
Pantomime performance and not at all good for the game, imo.
Oh yes it is!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Brentford are a dirty cheating bunch of losers. Mee and Maupay are a disgrace. Unfortunately Martinez and Kamara allowed themselves to get sucked into their antics. Watkins was angry about something being said to him and deservedly shoved it back in their faces.
A pity we are losing Kamara for a few games now. Also Torres hobbled off so let’s hope nothing serious.
Absolutely vile.
Always admired what they’ve achieved given their limited resources and thought Frank was a descent guy but will see him and his team in a different light after today’s shenanigans.
For posters on here who weren’t watching it live: any resemblance between what you may see on MOTD and a football match is purely coincidental. We won thank goodness!
I owe an apology to 1/ Fulham, 2/ Everton, 3/ Palace for describing them as the dirtiest team in the league as the season progressed. Brentford would rather kick you out of the game than play football. Ben Mee has a full rap sheet with Villa anyway: with one short term and one long term injury inflicted on Villans before today and his red card offence was mild by his standards. Maupay runs 20 yards with the ball already dead to hit Martinez in the back then plays wounded when Martinez retaliates stupidly in the next coming together. Why Coote picked Kamara to red card in the fracas to follow is a mystery: maybe because he could spell it.
While football had broken out in the first half, Villa faced a domestic Zerinski, camped behind the ball and waiting for a lucky rebound – which Brentford got to score. Villa were over elaborating, they can’t find a sharpshooter to unlock packed defences. Diaby the worst bottle-merchant – passing the ball back when he was supposed to be taking defenders on. He seems to have lost it recently.
Still – first away win over the B***s since 1933 is something to cheer.
Now this really hurts but here we go…
Come On Man U!
Everyone’s gone effing mad!!!!
Maupay set out to wind up Martinez – first he deliberately runs into him and then falls over and tries to claim a foul.
Martinez was silly to get pulled in which eventually led to Kamara’s red.
Perhaps Maupay should concentrate on trying to play football given that he’s pretty poor at it.
Don’t mind that we mixed it with them – if you’re going to be at the top of the league then you’ve got to be prepared to kick arse.
