POLL; Should Lambert stay or should he go?

I stated my case about why I believe Lambert has to go in my previous post, but I see some people are still asking for a poll, even though it seems the consensus is that he should indeed go.
It’s been backed up by polls on various other Villa sites, but I’m always happy to oblige if people ask.

I haven’t seen many posts on any site saying that we shouldn’t get rid of Lambert, but perhaps I’m reading things wrong.
Hence from a purely personal point of view, I’d like to see any arguments about why Lambert should stay.

i hate to agree with you bill, but your spot on southgate is ideal. coach type, plays the game the right way, has connections with some young players and would improve ours, only stumbling block is ~ i have heard the england manager job is his after hodgson steps down after the euros but i would throw his name in the hat with u

Well just thrown the hat in lads, to be honest, who would come at top level? Up till now we have attracted easy money people, Villa are badly organized in all department. You know lads we ran too long with old school ties,it only cottoned on in the late 90s to bring in university people just like Man utd, had. They had captured the market, in China way ahead of any football club of today. It will have to be a foreign person ready to take the challenge of English football.

Hardly shite, he had goal scorers at Southampton, when Chadli makes up 6 of 14 goals, you’re in trouble. They have the same problem as us, our strikers don’t score, neither do theirs. Soldado’s just not suitable for the Prem and Ade’s hit and miss. He gets a striker in January and gets rid of Soldado, they’d be in far better form then they are. Unfortunately 1 striker wouldn’t save us, unless we had someone like Ponchettino. Who would be a great managerial appointment still.

saints were a decent team before pocchetino joined he only added 2 wot was already a well run club and team, its not like the same thing a manager will do at villa, we need major changes gutting and rebuilding.

pocchetino is struggling at spuds cos the players aren’t able 2 play his high tempo pressing game so why doesn’t he adapt or is he unable too, i wouldn’t say the spuds players are shit they cost loads of money

Lloris has come and out backed Ponchettino, claiming the coach is not necessarily the problem, and that they feel far too comfortable in London, there’s no crisis management, and he feels bad for Ponchettino for it. Seems he’s blaming Levy as well.

Oh and Southampton’s best players weren’t sold, but they also replaced them with better.

Good question. We have had two-and-a-half diabolical years with this fool. During this time we have had shocking runs, poor results, cup exits to lower league teams and god know’s how many records broken.
I feel the turning point could be when the home crowd finally turn on and I don’t mean just booing the team off.
The away fans turned on him at Palace last season but that was it.
I really feel us fans have a big part to play.
At the moment, everything is so passive at Villa Park. People just sit there and do nothing.
Maybe our next game/defeat to Southampton could be that time?
Whatever happens, as a club we can’t carry on as we have been for these last 4/5 years.

Anyone think Pochettino is overrated? Slightly fortunate timing with the way he came into Southampton. Nigel Adkins had started to turn things around with results against us and Chelsea. They had a wealth of young talent to choose from and the majority of players that did well the following season were signed by the Adkins/Pardew regime.

I guess what I’m trying to say is we need to be wary of a foreign coach coming in. For every one that works out there’s a Pepe Mel. Can sometimes be a short turnaround in results and feel good factor, but ultimately in our case the instability at board room level through to first team/youth squads would be too much. I agree that someone like Southgate/McLaren could steady the ship and communicate/implement ideas better throughout the club.

with hind sight i wished we had gone with mclaren instead of lambert now ( i did want lambert ) i thought lambert would have been the best choice, as he was used to working with no money and thats our biggest problem, no money and owner who lacks any football knowledge.

i didn’t want mclaren as much as lambert, cos i thought the england experience would take a longer time 2 recover from. but mclaron would av worked more with the whole squad youth included, lambert should av been using the youth more, instead of buying some of the 2mill buys that were dire

hard to say but if mclaron had been now in his 3rd season as lambert is 2day, i would think he would have villa more settled and in much healthier position

I have to say Nath so did I, I thought it was time to stop wages and agents running away with our sport, I didn’t think what damage one manager and owner could cause, you know that old saying better the devil you know, its bloody right in our case. How the hell we get away with this manager god knows, I’ve been watching young England under 21s/ under19s the skills they have unbelievable, where the hell are our young hopefuls , if he play young lads we have, I could take the loss in a game, not what he does with the so called main players.

exactly bill where are the young players, robinson and grealish apart where are our future players, lambert as manager needs to explain, what has he and his coaches done to improve our youth. the point of having such a top class youth set up is to produce top players. look around players like gary cahill ,steve davis and craig gardiner all are playing premiership for other teams. us fans would relate to our team more, if they are home produced rather than coming for clearly the money

Nath, Giddy, very little comes out of Villa to give us any hope of getting better, is it sending our youth out to save money ? It certainly not in our case to get experience, how can it, Gardner, Robinson, I bet I can look at 10 different teams and see our players, playing for them and should have stayed with us, we have no ambitious intent to be more than a footballing club going nowhere.

robinson and gardiner both these two should be in and around the team i totally agree but iam not sure why unless lambert doesn’t rate um , we av delp out and sanchez was defintly off the pace slowly hes progressing but why are we allowing him time but not gardiner,

nzog and gabby both are off form and both playing playing well below the standards required robinson could and should be putting um under pressure to perform and grealish if hes staying and not being loaned out he should be playing so part also

i did see nzog play slightly better last game but hes still miles away from his form at wigan year before he was bought

iam not sure that was his ideology, he clearly was told 2 reduce wages and that naturally would av meant lower class of players being recruited and higher earning players being offloaded. but we have a youth team and these players should have been used, if they aren’t good enough WHY ??? also lamberts recruits haven’t exactly set the world alive. its head scratching but clearly we need somebody to inject a style of play like we are used to and this means from under 10 to all the way to the first team,

loaning the players out is a good thing as if they aren’t in our team, they are at least getting competitive game time, its great for the player and us as a club.it also reduces the wages for randy lol
