And I’ll bet I get this one right, one way or the other.
I’m being somewhat flippant, but the truth is I haven’t a clue as to how this one is going to go.
Bruce making a total bollocks of it against Peterborough leaves me wondering what the hell he thinks and the truth is I now have very little faith in him if he thought making 10 changes would see us through.
I still think the squad’s good enough, but you can’t make wholesale changes like that and expect much.
Yes, he’s probably concentrating on the league, but throwing games isn’t or shouldn’t be what the Villa are about.
At least, that’s not how I perceive us and us being in the second league has nothing to do with anything.
Even if we aren’t that good, we should be better than that.
Still, I’ll leave it there and you should by now, know my thoughts.
Tomorrow’s game then and we know it’ll be back to normal with the usual X1, because Bruce only changes it up if he has too, doesn’t he?
Which coincidentally are the only times he makes the right moves, it would seem.
The big question is will John Terry walk straight back in?
And my money says he definitely shouldn’t, given that he seemed nowhere near ready last week, by most accounts.
But I’d bet he will.
Because Bruce likes his favourites.
I could possibly rattle on about how Karanka is a more defensive-minded manager, who will try to tighten Forest up at the back.
But it doesn’t really matter, because as I’ve said previously, by Bruce’s own admission, he doesn’t “do” tactics and just relies on his players to find a way.
This is wearing thin with me, but I still trust that he somehow has the nous to get some kind of result.
I’m going for a 1-1.
But I suspect this won’t be enough in the fan’s eyes, after throwing the FA cup away so cheaply.
Every game is a must win when it comes to the Villa, but Bruce hasn’t helped himself in the slightest, in my opinion and will deserve everything he gets, should we lose this one.
What’s happen to the like button Badger? My mate from Nottingham said we deserved that game,
It’s still there Bill.
I went for the cheap option, which means you only get 25 likes to a page. Hence the last post or two on a page might not see the button.
If it’s a problem, I can upgrade, but bear in mind this comes out of my own pocket and I don’t think it’s worth it.
When you see where Sunderland are it’s clear that we were also in danger of sliding through two divisions last season given the horrendous performances of the previous relegation season and what had preceded it. There are a lot of similarities between Villa and Sunderland’s demise from the Prem.
I realise that SB is a bit of a marmite character but, in hindsight, I think he did what was needed last season to make sure we didn’t end up in a relegation dog fight – he stabilised the club.
Now, I believe, we’re starting to see that he’s put together a decent team with very limited funds – (I read somewhere his net spend over three windows is £2.5m) and despite the continual disruption with injuries, one that can mount a serious promotion challenge.
Now we all need to get behind him and the team – whatever are personal views might be.
UTV
Which is entirely my view Hitch.
For now, he’s the man, imo.
Spot on Hitch.
Not everybody shares that view but I’m totally with you Hitch.
Other than Brentford away, where frustrations got the better of me and I demanded Bruce out. I have wanted Bruce from day 1.
Personally think he’s done an unbelievable job given what he walked into and the restraints he’s had to work with. Not only on the pitch but behind the scenes.
One of the biggest things I have noticed recently is how many of our players are playing with smiles on their faces. It’s refreshing to see.
BRUCE IN.
Actually, I noticed that too, today.
Grealish shot over, but still smiled and acknowledged the passer.
A good sign, I thought.
