Newcastle United Vs Aston Villa – Preview

Aston Villa travel to Newcastle this weekend. Both clubs have been struggling with form but it’s Newcastle who has been struggling the most. Following the sale of Cabaye, Newcastle’s midfield has been struggling to create many opportunities without Cabaye. Newcastle haven’t won since their 3-1 victory over West Ham on January 18th. Meanwhile Aston Villa won their last game against West Brom 3-2 on January 29th. The difference is, Newcastle have conceded 10 goals in their last 3 games.

Newcastle’s poor form could be accounted by recent injuries to Fabio Coloccini, Tiote and Remy who could all return this weekend. Paul Lambert took his Villa side to Portugal during the past week in an effort to build confidence in the side. Aston Villa are currently 12th in the Premier League.

In the previous fixture Aston Villa lost to Newcastle 2-1. Ben Arfa was the star of the show, by scoring one and assisting the second goal for Newcastle. Benteke scored for Villa.

Team News:
Newcastle welcome back Loic Remy to the Newcastle squad. Remy has served his three-game suspension following a red card against Norwich. Defender Coloccini and Tiote might feature in this game.

Aston Villa have no fresh injury concerns.

Match Prediction:
Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa

I reckon it’ll be a boring draw. I’m not sure how many goals will be scored but I expect it’ll be very little. Both teams have struggled to score recently and I don’t see that changing this week. Aston Villa did go to Portugal so that could influence their performance this weekend, but after the last two recent games, I’m not too confident.

  1. if we’d have played this game last week id have been much happier, Newcastle will definitely see the return of remy and possibly tiote and collocini to give them a much needed boost, which will be bad news for us.
a point would be acceptable I guess and is most likely, low scoring 0-0/1-1 but we really need to put three points on the board soon.
I hope we try and get at em early and don’t let them settle and play, get an early goal and get the crowd against em woud be good.
there is of course a distinct possibility that we could rush to the aid of beleaguered alan pardew and donate 3pts to his cause.

    1. That’s the trick against Newcastle. Frustrate them early on and the fans will also get frustrate. Newcaslte score early and the fans will be behind them for the remainder of the game

      1. Well done. You’ve won the prize for the most obvious statement of the week. Did you use all your brain cells to reach that conclusion?

        1. well done, you’ve won the prize for the most unnecessarily rude comment of the week.
did you get out the wrong side of bed today or is it PMS? 😛

  2. If you replaced Clark, Westwood and El Ahmadi in that lineup, I think we would have a decent side.

  3. As already has been mentioned the break has given the barcodes chance to re-group as per usual whenever the villa are in town.our away form ain’t bad but i carn’t see us getting anything there.so im going 3-1 to the barcodes,im still not convinced yet our consistency is shite.i hope im proved wrong.

  4. I’m not so sure we will get a result to favour us , El Almardi not my type of player, he’s a player that’s short on passing the ball to other players, Albrighton might change things for him playing it wide, just hope they realise how important games are now, we are only where we are because others teams are worse.

  5. Sorry to say would not like to call this one as IMO this is a must win game a draw maybe a fair result. But lose and survival is going to be one hell of a struggle and don;t think i can stand another one will go for 0-0 or 2-0 the other way no way are we going to put three points on the board.

  6. Looking through the fixture list and I believe a win is vital, a number of clubs are playing each other. This would pull us out of the relegation scrap

    1. We need a win deffo but we havnt won there in 9 years m8 really want us to pull this one out the bag but don’t think we can unless on top of our game UTV

      1. I think we are more than capable of getting a result. Think we need KEA on the pitch because he is really good at breaking up teams who play passing football. Will this be the game Benteke turns up. At VP they ripped Luna a new arsehole on the left, with Bertrand in the team and the geordies without Cabaye then this will be a very open game imo UTV

  7. JAY DEE Lambert should set up the team to win and treat all our remaining games as must win to many teams below us to close for comfort mate.

  8. Be another lost lads lambert clueless the players will still be pissed up from their holiday if we only get 2 points from the next 4 games were be on same points as last season so unless we go on a run like last season were down lads but the lemmings keep defending him

  9. This is the team I like to see in a 4 1 4 1 lowton, okare, ron, ryan b then stylla Albrighton gardner delph gabby then benteke up front what you think lads

      1. Yes mate he should of taken on a championship side & got climatized before taking the jump.be honest that norweigan lge is like div1 at best.yes thank fuck he turned us down.

        1. Agree giddy. And what’s worse is that Lerner nearly fell for fergies recommendation bullshit yet again ffs. Joke of a chairman. I reckon ogs will get sacked after today.

          1. He’s certainly doing his cv no favours, possibly sacking him now will be a little premature.also tan’s position wouldn’t look good to the fans if it doesn’t already.

            1. Tan isn’t a fan favourite anyway. He didn’t care what fans thought when he sacked MM. Probably something in OGS contract that makes him unsaclable even when they go down.

  10. fully expect at least a draw. Newky are collapsing within the club and it is showing and nothing will change that. Away from home we are dangerous as long as Gabby is fit and we play a proper 433 formation and none of this 3 at the back crap.

go on Lambert play the obvious team for those that are fit. That means Weimann plays as his partnership with Benteke away from home is far more dangerous that albrighton would be.

  11. I’m minded to think we could beat Newcastle and several neutrals have said we will win.
But given what seems our uncanny knack of ending other teams poor runs, I really can’t see us winning.

    I’ll go 1-1.

    1. 2.1 to us. If it was at home I’d say 2.1 to them. Who gives a fuck anyway it’s a nothing match with nothing at stake for both teams other than pride.

  12. Results have not been to bad for us so far Fulham, the baggies and if they lose tom Norwich are the poorest teams in the league for me at the moment.

  13. I only just noticed;

“The last time Aston Villa won at St James Park, the Magpies had three players sent off, including Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer for fighting each other in April 2005.”

I was there and that was well funny, albeit I could hardly see what was going on and wish I’d taken bloody binoculars, you’re that far away.

I don’t recall a third player being sent off though?????

I’ve got to work tomorrow, so am trying to figure a way to get a sneaky peak at the game, or at least listen to some commentary:-(

    1. I was there and only found out what had happened off Geordies after. I thought that Barry had been fighting but he actually broke it up.

Steve Taylor was sent off late on when he handled on the line.

      Watching in the pub today.

  14. Whey Aye Man
our boys av been on holiday sunning it up. expect a stunning performance with 3points, excuses will not be easy 2 tolerate if we don’t
    ~ villa 2 ~1 win~

  15. Bloody hell, Lambert is rattling on about not conceding;

    http://www.newcastleunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/lambert_sjp__the_perfect_stadium_for_football_825501/index.shtml

I’ll be pulling my hair out if we find that’s his priority tomorrow, the negative, mumbling twat.

Get some bloody decent players in, not kids, come the summer, so we don’t have to keep watching the shit we’ve had to suffer this season, imo!

Every time this manager opens his trap in an interview, the less I like him.

  16. My guess is everyone behind the ball bollocks yet again, then hope their strikers have an off day and our defenders have a blinder and scrape a draw.

  17. i know we are shit. i do watch um and iam constantly reading we are shit ~ but we aven’t kick a competitive ball in ages. so why be so defeatist about ur team ~ if i had felt the same i probably switch allegiances 2 the bluenoses
look at the bigger picture, also lamberts just stated that we av 7 clean sheets, which is more than last year whole. which means progression, maybe small but if we are moving forwards then thats the goal innit

    1. This a fantastic opportunity for us to break away from the pack, yesterdays fixture list was a big help to any club willing to take advantage, Hull did, West ham did lets hope we do.

  18. Nath switch to the fucking noses, how low could you sink even if we’re that shite languishing in the ryman lge would i fucking support that scum.get a grip mate

    1. i was try 2 be devils advocate seems like i failed ~ i bleed villa hurts when i see us moan b4 a game

      1. Mate it’s part of being a footy fan,but under no circumstance however low the club sank would i move over the city.i would insist being placed in a padded cell & request a labotomy before the thought ever crossed my mind.nowt wrong being critical about our beloved club mate.

  19. this game will be all about approach, I hope lambert is aware of that, we really need to get at em from the off and unsettle them and the crowd, doing our usual sit back and wait game will only inspire confidence in the Newcastle team if they manage 70%+ possession and comfortably knock the ball about.
Newcastle are there for the taking today if we approach it right.

  20. Agreed NM, we need to approach the game like we did against West Ham when two down and Cardiff in the last half hour.

We can play really good football at times when the confidence and will to attack is there.

Sit back and hope for the final whistle as we did at Goodison and I reckon we’re doomed.

I sense a draw, and would be quite happy with that.

  21. again bacuna right back lowton not even making the bench ~ formation the trusted 433 set up 2 soak and hit on the break

  22. Fairly happy with that line-up.

Need Weimann to take his chances and Benteke to look interested.

Do question Bacuna’s defensive ability but hopefully we’ll have them on the back foot.

Pub time lol ! UTV !!!
