I’m not sure you can hate a fixture, but if you can, it has to be this one doesn’t it?
I look at it not quite with dread, but more a massive sense of resignation.
Our record is so bad that if you were to actually look through things, it wouldn’t surprise me if this is one of the most one sided fixtures ever, anywhere in the English game over say a twenty year period.
Certainly no team has beaten any other more in the history of the Premier league.
How annoying is that?
I’ve seen talk of how Man Utd are bound to get a penalty or two and it’s true, they usually do.
So how ironic was it for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to talk about how they hadn’t had enough penalties this season after Jurgen Klopp suggested that Man U had had more penalties in two years than Liverpool had got in five and a half years.
The clip then went on to show some of Utd’s game against West Ham in the midweek and there it was. Utd were denied as blatant a penalty as you’ll ever see. I did laugh.
It’s nice to see they get poorly treated on occasions too, but everybody knows it doesn’t make any difference and they’ve had way more than their fair share over the years.
Straight to squad news then and Bailey and Sanson are both out, which is worrying, as they’ve only just come back from injuries. Dean Smith continues to talk utter rubbish when it comes to injuries, but if he’s to be believed, Bailey might be ok by the time the World cup qualifiers are over.
Sanson only has a “little injury” which is a great relief yet it’s going to keep him out for a month. I can only say it’s a good job he isn’t seriously injured.
I like Dean Smith, but he doesn’t half talk some tosh when it comes to injuries and it annoys me.
I’ve seen talk that John McGinn will be out after his concussion, but the man himself seems to say that he’s ok and he’ll play.
Otherwise, it’s the same old and I don’t see much changing. The only issues are 3 or 4 at the back. Tuanzebe can’t play in this one, as he’s ineligible so I’m guessing it will be 4. Come to think of it, is there any option? Whereas we’ve talked recently about how much squad depth has improved, take Tuanzebe out and we suddenly look very thin at the back again. Hmm.
And then it’s a choice of Ashley Young or Matt Targett for the left back position. Targett has been out of form recently, but I’d prefer him to get back in it, as he was so good last season. I think Smith might think the same, but I’m sure Ash will get on the pitch, so he can face his old team mates.
As for Man U, Cavani will be assessed before the game and Marcus Rashford is out for a few weeks.
So while Solskjaer says Utd are more than the Cristiano Ronaldo show, we all know how good he can be and he’s the one we’re going to have to try and stop. I really didn’t think he’d be as effective this time round, but he’s already proving me wrong and he’s got 3 goals in 2 games.
Can we stop him? Well it doesn’t matter as a player of his calibre just finds a way to score doesn’t he? No matter how good a defence is. It’s going to be difficult.
But certainly not impossible. I think we’re definitely capable of beating Utd now, which is not something I’ve felt much over the years. I’d like to think we will beat them too, but feel we’re still not quite at that level that gives us the mindset required to beat them.
I think we’ll score. But Man Utd are the highest scorers this season and they rarely fail to score against us. So they’re going to score too.
Unfortunately, I think they’ll score more and I’m struggling to see past a 1-2 defeat.
Here’s hoping.
UTV!
It’s not on Sky, so I’m wondering why they moved the timeslot?
I know it’s been explained in the media, but I just didn’t bother to read the reason.
Oh well.
COYL!
I just settled down to watch the game. Disappointing but Chelsea v Man City will be interesting.
It’s on Dazn and Optus sport, if you have the ability.
Fortunately, I do.
Also bein sports channel 490 .. Minns slow into tackle again I see.
Duh, I totally forgot about Hause, who comes in and it is 3 at the back;
Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Hause, Mings, Targett, Luiz, McGinn, J Ramsey, Ings, Watkins.
Not many people know this, but I am a Clairvoyant, part-time and I can predict the following for today’s match.
Firstly, Manure Utd will get a penalty, not just because they have not had one this season yet but because they usually get one against us, dodgy or otherwise.
Secondly, Luiz will be involved in giving away the penalty, which will involve any one from three, Pogba, Ronaldo or Fernandes.
Next, Mings will have, yet another, casual moment, which will cost us.
Finally, Ronaldo’s most successful three teams to score against, in the Premier League are Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa. Last two fixtures were against………need I say more.
To compound it all, Mike “ It’s all about me” Dean is the ref.
I think I will do the lottery tonight, after all that.
🙂
Funnily enough, I think you might be uncannily right!
We’re running at a slows pace today why ? Is this a ploy to put Manks off. The commentator just said the same we’re slow.
Yes, Utd look the more composed side. We just carved them open though. Targett was off target.
Bloody hell Watkins should have scored easily then.
We’re certainly taking it to them.
We should be two up , what the he’ll are we up to , Taggett and Oli both having that mad moment, come on Villa we can win this..
Watkins has been useless up to now. Cash is having a great game though.
Not a bad half, kept Ronaldo quiet. Could have gone either way that half so going in at half time a draw seems fair. Personally I think we need to go 1 upfront and have an extra man in the middle to cover the constant switch in play by united. Ollie and ings just isn’t working for me.
If anyone is looking for a stream I use AOS TV on android and firestick and its on supersport variety 3.
Watkins not getting back into an onside position means a foul on Ings isn’t given. That would have been a pen too.
I’d get Watkins off, he’s been crap, as much as I really like him.
Yes he’s been a liability in the game, he just don’t seem to be in tune to the game. Does he know something we don’t , Archer for instance? Don’t seem to be in the game today.
We’ve got them really rattled!
McGuire manhandles McGinn there and Dean totally ignores it. Shocking.
Sorry to be a pessimist but I just know whats gonna happen its happened so many times over the years if we win it will be so great villans but I just get the feeling manure will get a late one
I agree Little8.
Which would be a shame, as we’ve been probably the more dangerous team.
Oli needs to be pulled off, he’s not intuned with the game, off side again Buendia on ning off ,
Buendia coming on for…… Ings?
Hmm. Ings has been invisible but Watkins has been awful today.
Hause looking to get a nosebleed in their box.
He has the touch of a rapist lol.
Shit, Ramsey has gone down with what looks like something serious.
That slip was an accident and Ramsey is looking for an excuses, just one of those things, we should I hope get something out of this Archer comming on
Rightly so too. Go on Cameron, get one kid.
