Leicester 1 – 0 Villa; Total rubbish

Well, that was about as poor as it gets for me.
Yet again, we kept possession, passed it around a lot and basically created next to nothing.
A measly one shot on goal sums us up and says all we need to know.

The really disappointing thing is we weren’t playing one of the top teams. This was Leicester City, who while they’re on a decent run at the moment are still bottom of the table.
Still, Leicester should be feeling pretty good after this game, as they’re only 5 points behind us and the way we’re playing lately, we look eminently catchable.
Looking at that same table, we’re only 3 points above the relegation places.
Are those of you who think we’re going to end up mid-table still feeling comfortable? I’m not.

And then look at the current form table. We’re bottom with 3 draws and 3 defeats and when you consider who we’ve played in the last 4 games, that makes me even more uncomfortable.

It occurred to me during the game that Paul Faulkner said that Randy Lerner watches every Villa game and I found myself wondering if that was really true. If it is, what on earth must he be thinking?
If I, as a rabid Villa fan for far too many years find us incredibly hard to watch, surely he must be bored witless?

You’ll probably notice that I’ve hardly mentioned the game.
That’s because there’s very little to talk about, yet another red card apart and the scary fact that Leicester fully deserved their win.

When will this tedium end? is the question I keep asking myself.

Please Lerner, just do something. Anything: as it surely can’t be worse than the utter rubbish that we’re having to endure at the moment.
I’m beginning to think it might be better for us to actually go down attacking, as opposed to this death of a thousand misplaced passes, which I suspect will see us struggling anyway. And I don’t recall ever thinking that before.

I won’t even mention that even a lowly club like Leicester can afford a £9 million striker and the wages that entails. Yet we apparently can’t?.
Open your wallet Lerner and get us some quality before it’s too late.
Fat chance, I suppose.

  1. Our league position totally flatters us,we seem to be getting away with it 1 goal equates to 2 points it seems.if that worked for Leicester they’d been on I think 40 points now,by February I see us in the bottom 3 where I think we’ll stay.we have fuckall to offer up front I’m well & truly fucked off.

  2. It’s the end lads but I say this to all them fans backing lambert you are a joke to the club get lost and support someone else lambert had a higher budget than a lot of teams yet are the lowest scores out of how many teams so if a manager with a lower budget can get his team scoring them lambert has no excuse sacking is the only way we will stay up if not don’t cry come may said this 3 years ago no one listen writing on the wall now

    1. You get lost you fucking idiot. If you’re so keen to rid Lambert, get ur arse off your chair, dig out your pitchfork and get down to VP!!!!

(Edit) no name calling please Oohah.

        1. It’s the two options, Hel. As u say, get down there and scream for Lambert’s head, or vote with yr feet and keep the stadium empty.
With the TV money vastly higher than gate receipts, Lerner couldn’t give a fuck if just ten fans turn up.
How many more years of this? I HATE Lerner soooooooooo much. Scumbag.

    2. ha get over yourself villa96, we all realise we are shite right now, your answer? fire the manager and any fan who supported him supports him, or who can’t see a better alternative if we do fire him. highly constructive .. someone is to blame for your poor misfortune of being a villa fan and that has to be the fans who share your opinion …

  3. Didn’t manage to see the game today but by listening to the radio on the way home we’ve created very little again and also have zero width.

Playing narrow and keepball is very easy for defences and Without the quality unlocking them, I hate to say it…..we’re fooked.

Noticed Gabby played….. Was he as useless as ever???

4 at the back with 3 holding midfielders…. Wtf is that all about Mr Lambert.

Buy some quality or suffer playing the scum next season Mr Lerner.

    On to the next one!!

    1. Nice to hear from you – talkong sense for once aswell.
We don’t normally hear from you when we lose.

  4. I’m fed up talking about it now, you’ll get idiots still defend that load of shit games we keep having , time now to make or break , don’t go is my way to handle shit football ,he went just to defend to day in the hope of snatching a goal , he does not have any idea of making chances, you ask me now even the 5 play makes are fucked what to do, he’s got to go now not tomorrow now. I’ll take a chance on someone with more guts that that fucking idiot.

    1. I know bill but we have too many idiots at the club who think this okay from the board to management to fans the sooner they gone the better for the sake of the club

  5. 1-0 was flattering to us. Leicester should have won by 2 or 3.

11 premier league goals. Only 6 players have scored for us this season. 0 goals in our last 4 games against weaker opposition. We are bang in trouble.

  6. I had to turn the sound up on the tv to make out what the mumbler said but I think it was something like –
we need to do better third to try get the goals our GOOD play deserves.
    HE IS DELUDED.

  7. I’m starting to get worried surely this can’t carry on.We are crap.I said the other week that I had a good day down the Villa and I did but I don’t want to see us in the chumpionship.Things have to change or we could drop a division.

  8. If Lambert goes Lerner will only get someone else to do it on the cheap.Doomed to be the new Leeds.

    1. Lamberts going to be with us til Lerner fucks off,Lambert low maintenance hence a 4 year contract.that lucky streak at the start of the season played straight into lerners hands.

  9. On paper our team was stronger than leicesters yet they could have won 3 or 4 nil.
it is down to tactics and motivation. Lambert is more interested in posseßion stats than anything else at the moment.
We need to get into the final third before we can get better there.
same team selections same tactics. The whole thing is stale and Lambert has to go.
Nigel Clough would do a much better job.

  10. Fighting has broken out in Leicester City centre gets better and better fans have boiled over

  11. Gabby , don’t play him till we play WBA then don’t play him till play them them again . If I was playing for my beloved club I would break sweat . He is shit . Gives it the big un BUT . Clarke been playing really well but he is thick , sent off !!!! Tippy tappy football , if u r Barcelona or Madrid and the quality they have great BUT we r aston villa with Tom I’m shit cleverly , send him back now !!!!!! Lambert don’t spend 8 mill on him . Frustrated , annoyed we lost to Leicester . Can go on and on but I won’t bore u . But I will say Gabby is a myth !! F Im off along with a dozen others . UTV

  12. I see Gregg Evans at the Birmingham mail is trying to deflect the focus away from today’s shocking performance onto the fact that lambert is tying to sign Scott Sinclair (a player who chased the money and has hardly played for 2 years) to answer our creativity problems. The mail Should concentrate on the local people it serves and help get rid of this joker lambert.

    1. I totally agree.
Kendick opened his mouth very slightly, apparently and got binned.
Now we have Gregg Evans, who should be shouting the opinion of the vast majority of Villa fans, in that Lambert has to go, but isn’t.
It’s no wonder nobody buys the Mail anymore, as it doesn’t represent the people it’s supposed too, imo.
It’s always been a Scum supporting rag anyway, so I don’t really care.

      1. See Kendrick’s latest tweet?

“Dear Tom Fox, enough is enough. Do the right thing – and put us all out of our misery”.

Kendrick’s never going to be invited back. Hahaha

  13. ” Clarke been playing really well but he is thick , sent off !!!! “…………………………………….

Saw the whole game and he WAS playing well and as I saw it he didn’t do anything to get a 2nd yellow….the ref just assumes that as there is a 20 player pile up and one bloke is causing it then someone else must be involved…He just stood there with the ball in his hands while the blue idiot was going mental…………….will be really hammered now for not controlling our players………..yet again we hardly made more than a few fouls with the others doing 3 times as much.

So so so totally dont understand the people running the place…why would they want us to fail and be associated with such a load of crap week in week out…….we have no option !!

  14. Ain’t bothered bout scott I’m after the dough Sinclair . For me Tom I’m shit Cleveley is more important . Sign him for 8 mill then Lambert has lost it . Craig Gardner or Jack Grealish would not have done any worse . But we r 13th on 22 points havin scored 11 goals so it ain’t all bad lol

    1. I’ve been going on about Cleverley for ages. He is just pure average, same as Richardson.
As for bringing on Richardson for Sanchez, well, I just laughed at that.
Sanchez was actually poor today, even though I really like him, but WTF could Richardson possibly offer over him?
I so want to forget this game, but there was so much wrong, it’s a joke.

Lambert has to go and I’m really worried that Lerner will give him £10 mill to spend.
A total waste of money, imo.

  15. Lerner would be better sacking Lambert and paying him off with transfer funds. I think most Villa fans would be happy with that.

    1. Agree Id rather pay £5m or whatever and get rid of lamberk and give new manager say £5m to play with than keep Lamberk and give him £10m. Don’t forget if we go down he will lose a lot more than £5m or so, he will lose Sky money, less money of fans, and will have to sell for a fraction of the price.

  16. Colonius, so if all is failing, suggesting that we fire the man who’s running the piss poor show, is wrong?
It isn’t our job to choose a replacement and this is the part that annoys me.
It’s Lerner’s job to do that, simple.
And he’s as crap as the manager.
That’s why I want them both gone.

Ellis, as much as I disliked him would have seen that we have serious problems and have binned Lambert 2 seasons ago, because at least he cared.

Our current owner may as well not own us, as he offers no leadership whatsover.
And that’s worse than poor leadership, imo.

    1. The same Ellis that broke up the EC team, got Billy McNeil and let him take us down, signed Venglos, got GT mark 2 who played centre halves in midfield as we got humiliated in the Enkleman Derby, wouldn’t pay extra half mill for Robbie Keane, fucked up Juninho transfer, fucked up Beattie transfer, Named a stand after himself, hired O Dreary and then for good measure sold us out to a complete fuck wit called Lerner whilst getting a president title!

Is that the one your on about? !!

      1. Yes.
Totally useless, but better than what we have now, imo.
I’d rather see something than nothing.

In the meantime, you keep wishing for your multi billionaire, which just isn’t going to happen.

  17. The only thing for me is we r 13th . 22 points , 11 goals . When we decide to score goals and play players who care then I can c a light at the end of the tunnel . Too many big time Charlie’s think they r great but ain’t . I ain’t no messi but I would break my go nads to play for aston villa . Onwards and upwards

  18. “We need to do better in the final third”. (Lambert)

Basil Fawlty’s jibe to his wife “You should be on Mastermind – specialist subject The Bleeding Obvious” comes to mind.

He has shown no sign so far that he understands why Villa are so poor there.
1/ Benteke does not like Gabby or Weimann and vice versa, and I am not sure Gabby and Weimann have a striker’s relationship. Benteke goes out of his way to give those two flicked on balls they cannot reach, the only decent passes he gives are to Hutton.
2/ Nobody makes diagonal runs off the ball to lose their markers – perhaps the result of 1.
3/ it is said the crosses into the box are bad, but they are bound to be! The strikers are hiding amongst their markers at a near stand-still – not sprinting into gaps to give the crosser a target.
4/ None of the midfielders runs through the line of strikers and the oppos back four to offer an alternative.

    1. Lambert is now basically clueless, and looks more detached from reality with every game.

Like a rabbit caught in the headlights he’s seems completely paralysed and it’s hard to see him changing anything at all because he doesn’t know what to do next.

Having given him the new contract, if Lerner won’t fire him now, then the only alternative is to bring in a Nr2 who can actually sort out the mess – quickly.

    2. I also noticed that Benteke’s body language to Weimann in particular is very cold. He often rants and raves at the other forwards. He clearly is furstrated by them. And he does seem to click more with Hutton. It’s also true that there is no intelligent movement by our forwards or midfielders into space or to create space. This is the sort of stuff that they should be working on in training.

  19. You forgot to mention that the crosses are rubbish, on the whole.

I suspect that Benteke wants out, big time, as the service he’s getting is rubbish.
That said, his first touch is shocking, but I think it’s down to the lack of trust of the rubbish supplying him. I think Gabby suffered the same problem, fwiw.

Sanchez must be wondering what sort of game we’re playing and I’ll bet he thinks it isn’t football.

    1. Badger I don’t know how you can blame poor service for Benteke not scoring. Yes it’s a contributory factor but he has had quite a few chances and blown then. Remember last min v Utd ffs. Also he is someone that does create stuff for himself as well so he’s not totally reliant on crosses etc.

      1. It’s scary if they think that, he’s nothing like Gerrard. Maybe other than when Gerrard had Torres he was a hard working player, and that’s about all Delph has is his work rate.
