Leeds – Villa; now we’ll see what we’re really about.

While Leeds have had a really poor run of late (they’re 22nd in the current form table over the last 10 games), they have actually won two out of their last three, which may well mean they’ve had their really bad patch and are about to hit a rich vein of form.

To be honest, I don’t really check the league table that closely, but that form frankly shocked me, as I’d seen this as an incredibly tough game.
So given that we’re second only to Wolves in that same 10 game table, I think we should really be rating our chances.
Indeed a quick glance this morning at Sky Bet had us as very slight favourites to win.

So while I still think this will be a very tough game, it’s exactly the sort that I think we ought to be winning if we’re to really send a message to the rest of the league.

Team news then and I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you about our injuries.

As for Leeds, midfielder Ronaldo Vieira is available after being suspended.
Striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga remains out but midfielder Eunan O’Kane (hip) is expected to play.

So, prediction time.

Well, leeds have a decent attack, but are vulnerable at the back.
Whereas we’re pretty much the opposite, with me worrying about where the goals will come from, while also having serious doubts about our defence as it currently stands.
Still, we’ve held up very well lately, haven’t we?

In a game that should have a tasty atmosphere, I think that yet again the first goal is going to be all-important.
And if we can get it, it wouldn’t surprise me if we go on to win.

I’d say there are certainly going to be goals and I think the logical prediction is a 1-1, which, while not a bad result, I’m sure I’ll be thinking we needed to win that to really push us on.

My heart thinks we can actually win this 2-1, but I find I expect very little nowadays and anything we get is a bonus.

1-1 it is then.

Nice to see Grealish back. He needs to get back to fitness and start performing week in week out though.

lansbury! Nice one. I’ll take that after this performance. 20 mins though. Maybe that will prick their bubble a bit. First threat really but who cares?

Touch and movement of Grealish going past Jansonn is fantastic. With the right attitude he really could be a top player

have to say Davis needs to have more of an impact. He seems to have dropped a level. Maybe that’s youth as it’s often talked about that it is hard to sustain that level

1-1 draw so Ooohaah’s predictions of doom were a bit premature.

What have we got now with Bruce? A bit of resiliency, 1-0 down doesn’t mean we lose. Real improvement on show and ALL giving 100%.

    Proud of the team tonight.

I have to say good subs from Bruce in the end Onomah needs to be dropped IV never rated him and he’s only a loan player. The team we ended with is the team I’d start with next game. Lansbury is the creative midfielder we need but has he got the consistency. Grealish looked decent and was winning us fouls all over the place. In the end a good point and deserved we were better than them second half imo. We would of lost this game last year so a bit of resilience as well

Your right Pat. When we concede some people just accept defeat. It’s been engraned in most of us given what we have endured this past 5 years. We have been crying out for a team that shows some fight and spirit. They now have that. Time for supporters to do the same. I know we aren’t playing great football but for christ sake we all need to show our support for the club and what the ultimately want to achieve.

Much better 2nd half. We kept the ball at Leeds end of the pitch where they were uncomfortable, and Bruce’s sub runs down the middle and scores.

It was the minimum we needed to keep belief we could reach and come through the playoffs, and we still have it to prove against the top 8 teams, but a positive start to a tough month.

happy with the draw and agree about the resiliency. Overall a good result but they have lost to Reading, Sheff U and Derby at home in recent weeks.

I just feel we are lacking something to really challenge at the top, and I don’t think we should given the squad and the spend. This is such a crucial season as well.

You are such a twat. Just keep ranting nonsense and let’s speak at the end of the season. i hope you’re right but you’re such a nob my money’s not on that.

we need to get promoted. Will we get top 2? I say No. What about you? If not, it’s top 6 and play offs. Happy with that? Happy with not being able to beat the top 6 because we can beat the rest? But then we have to win across three games against top 6 opponents?

As I said. Nob. Gobby Nob as well.

No it doesn’t. Odd games and all that. But our record against the top 8 (or 7 as we are one)? Not the odd game is it? Doesn’t matter to some muppets but when they quote simple maths as the answer it is funny.

Remember we have these teams to play at home so we may win some of them. Even bloose beat Cardiff at home so we gave a chance

I agree that mathematically we have a chance. To me it’s all about tactics and approach though. I don’t think the team goes out expecting to take the game to the top teams and beat them.

i just don’t think that is Bruce’s philosophy. i can’t be arsed to look at it but I wonder about his promotions from this league. Was it a case of there being no realistic opposition? No idea but will look if I can be bothered.

i don’t think Cardiff are anything special. We should be above them. maybe we will be at the end of the season but I’m not sure what is really going to change the current landscape

Fair point it’s a lot harder to get out of this division than it was years ago. Today you have to win 26 plus games to get automatic promotion and that’s why we won’t get it as we draw to many. On our day we should be able to beat anyone in this division but likewise anyone can beat us. Don’t think the Millwall game will be easy that will be a very tough game too. I guess if we stay within 6 points of Cardiff and beat them at Villa then they will be looking over their shoulder. If you think about it that game early on in season when they stuffed us if we had got a draw in that game there would only be 4 points between us now but we never realised how imo that game was

why didn’t leeds press the shit out of us second half. do i need to answer that lmao. they did well 1st half but they didnt build a big enough lead. 2nd half they couldnt continue to do the same high press. villa themselves were on top second half. a draw was about the right result.

if only we could be the top 8. we have no strikers available even under 23’s are stretched. but bruce should be able to wave his wand. i said 80 plus points meaning 80 and above had i said 80 or 80 and below i could give you that.

So you reckon top 2? Fuck you are deluded. Just dropped another 2 points off the pace. It’s Leeds. No mugs but 8th, on a poor run and have lost at home in 3 out of the last 4 or 5 against some ordinary sides.

Over to you. Don’t tell me what you wish for. Justify it. Otherwise talk to your mates who agree with you and I won’t waste my time.

We should finish top 6 but with our inability to beat anyone in top 8 it’s unlikely we will go up this year. We have to do it automatically or not at all. Wolves have got first place sewn up as far as I’m concerned. Cardiff are 7 points ahead but with games coming thick and fast this month we have a chance to close gap. If we can get to within 3 points of them we have a chance as we still have them to play. But like you say it’s unlikely we will finish top two but we will no more this month.

if all the opposition need to do is press lmao why do teams press the opposition. takes good teams to be able to press successfully. better teams than villa crumble when they face a decent press. they had three or four pressing the villa backline first half. then they had another 4 behind them pressing into midfield. villa had no answer. it was wednesday all over again.

tough luck had they scored the second they would have won, but i said h/t we just needed alittle longer to ride it out they run out of steam. i am happy to come away with a point. davis needs a break or we will have no strikers available at all
