Last chance saloon for Lambert?

I think pretty much everyone knows Oohaah’s stance when it comes to the Villa hierarchy.
He consistently wants them all out and has done for a long time.
My stance has been somewhat different, in that the reactionary or I suppose fickle part of me has at various times called for Lerner and or Lambert to go. That’s a natural thing to me as it’s an easy way to express your extreme disappointment when we lose yet another game.
I’ve been pretty consistent in saying that Faulkner ought to go, but that has nothing to do with footballing reasons, as to me he’s just a bean counter who knows nothing about the game and probably worse, most likely doesn’t even care. It’s just a superbly paid job for him.

But I’ve never been consistent about the owner or the manager and have refused to actively engage in a persistent campaign calling for their heads. The reasons are mainly that I listen to the arguments and find myself questioning if I might be wrong. There’s also the concern that I might be out of touch with what the majority think, which is not normally a problem for me, but we like to think this site represents what the fans think and not Oohaah’s or my opinion.

I think I’m definitely right in not calling for Lerner to go, mainly because I don’t think it’s going to happen until he makes his own mind up and any protest on our part would be utterly pointless, in that he won’t go until he gets the vast majority of his money back and no-one will pay that price for the Villa.
I won’t even talk about the latest takeover rumour, save to say that in my opinion, it’s a total load of rubbish.

Lambert though, is a different kettle of fish.
He’s much more vulnerable to a campaign.
My doubts about him going though are the much discussed point about who will replace him.
We all know Lerner will just hire another donkey who is willing to do his bidding of cutting costs and trying to work with pennies.
But how long can you keep using Lambert’s replacement as an excuse for keeping him?

For me it now boils down to three games; Palace away, Swansea away and Hull at home. The other games against Man City and Spurs don’t really matter to me. We have to get at least three points in one of those games against teams around us and if we don’t that will be the point for me where I finally turn and will be convinced that Lambert quite simply has to go.

Mind you, having read around the net, it might seem I’m too late.
I read in the Mirror this morning that (I think it was Oliver Holt) Lambert shouldn’t get a new contract. Matt Kendrick has tonight come out and said the same and Ian Taylor addressed the same issue a couple of days back.
Nosing around the internet, it seems this is pretty much the consensus now and many are going further in saying that Lambert should be sacked.
I’ll keep giving him chances, even though I don’t think he’s the answer for the club. I mean, no-one wants the manager to fail do they?
But he really is in the last chance saloon.

Well with the amount of bust-ups, Helenius, Lowton, Luna all clearly did something. Reports on another forum that Culverhouse has been bad mouthing the kids, got in a huge argument with Sid, Gabby and Vlaar backed Sid. Lambert bringing in Holt to get players on his side, also claimed the whole reason he got no money in January was because of all this, all the money was pulled and that’s why we never got Hoolahan despite a deal probably being done. Reportedly been told he has until the end of the season to sort the issues out and stop marginalizing the squad. All this and N’Zogbia’s training with the development squad. He’s completely lost the locker room and he has to go.

KEA’s at least back fit. We’ve only won once in 10 games without him playing, so always good news. We won’t go down, and should realistically get 6-7 points from the next 4 games… But then again should… Most likely won’t. Our last 2 games we’ll definitely get stuffed, because the players won’t give a crap then.

We’re past the point of last chance saloon, Lambert deserves nothing other than the sack as he would have done at every single other club that didn’t have such a spineless, unambitious no show owner.
A man with decency would walk out given the shame and humiliation he has brought on to the club.
Lamberk, Culverhouse and co not only are shit but they are so incredibly dislikeable. At least Mcleish behind the poor management was a decent guy.
As for Palace, we’ll lose and tbh I want us to stay up on the bare minimum just so Faulkner can’t sugar coat the progress bullshit to the fans.

We will beat palace for sure. When it comes to must win games Lambert always seems to nick it and that is why he is still in a job. He is now hanging by a thread and the fact that papers are turning against him makes me feel that those in power have sanctioned the publishing of these articles. It was the same with mcleish. Lambert will talk about planning for next year and I bet that before end of may he will be gone. I would take a punt on Neil Lennon. He aint no world class manager and would not be my choice, but he would be worth a shout if they are continuing to do things on the cheap.

Even if we win these three games and end up on 43 points, Lmabert still has to go. We are going nowhere under his control. We have to ship him out and bring in someone with new ideas.

I’m back out giddy, ready for the world again, and yes somebody has an hold on our football team and standing still with it, I can see the Lerner fans points, and I can see the fans points, My bitter argument is him sitting on his backside just lisining to untrained people in Faulkner, and Lambert and no interest on us fans, that’s a typical Yanks mind, they know best, they won the war you know. Like fuck they did.

That was actually the Russians Bill. 300 million lives lost. Greece suffered more casualties than the USA. The Yanks just made a fortune lending money and selling arms…

Give you that on the Yanks what they did, but we supplied the Russians from the money the Yanks took of us, remember they didn’t come into it till 1941and we warned them about pearl harbour but they didn’t believe us, Now we have this twat robbing us of glory at Villa park.

Lambert is a truly awful manager, tight budget or not. See him mumbling more defeatest rubbish on Sky last night? He knows we’re pretty much safe on 34 points but only because of the terrible teams currently in the bottom three…one of which beat us at home last week for the first time in 41 years.
I disagree about Lerner though. A sustained campaign could speed up a sale, IF there is a buyer!

Bum bum met Lerner year ago in a pub when he came to buy Villa, he wanted friends he was buying drinks and jokeing about his massive eagle on his back. He now gone back and don’t bother about us fans. I want him out.

From Lerners point of view Lambert has kept us up again, whilst reducing the wage bill and getting rid of the overpaid, older players with cheaper young ones. He doesn’t come to matches so doesn’t give a shit how the team play or whether us fans are happy or not. The TV money is far more important to him than the attendance money and the TV will always televise the Villa for either an upset or a really good drubbing.

Its his business and he does as he wants, Lerner just doesn’t want to spend any cash, Faulkner in his eyes is the best bean counter and Lambert is a deflection from his poor ownership, thats how its going to stay until someone comes along and offers him over market value – which is no time soon and as fans there is bugger all we can do about it.

Its a shame Ted but I think its how it is, protests or falling attendances will just keep prospective purchasers away, which defeats the object….. He’s got us truly by the balls !!

disagree we are not contractually obliged to buy season tickets and support villa and lerner. Its our decision if you go its because you want to go not because lerner made you go

agreed oohah and I have stayed away this season, what I was trying to say was Lerner doesn’t give a shit whether we go or not and if tens of thousands stayed away and there were demonstrations, it may put prospective purchasers off…So we can’t win either way.

My only money spent this season was a kit for my son for his 8th birthday and I am sure he thinks I am a twat because he wanted the Arsenal kit !
