Chelsea Vs Aston Villa – Preview

Chelsea host Aston Villa on Wednesday, this game has been moved forward due to Chelsea’s game in the Uefa Super Cup against Champion League winners Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, both teams won their opening games, Villa beat Arsenal 3-1 and Chelsea overcame promoted Hull City at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, Aston Villa got hammered 8-0, the goal for today is to ensure that Aston Villa don’t lose by such a goal margin. But with an massively improved Aston Villa side, a similar score line is very unlikely. The defence has been strengthened with the signing of Luna and the attack force of Agbonlahor, Weimann and Benteke have become one of the best counter-attacking trio in the Premier League. Chelsea on the other hand are chasing the Premier League title in what could be the most competitive and unpredictable Premier League to date.

Team News:
Chelsea are without key defender David Luiz who is still carrying a hamstring injury. It’s expected that Mourinho will make a host of changes following the 2-0 victory over Hull. The likes of Lukaku, Mata and Schrulle may feature.

Aston Villa will be without Nathan Baker who obtained a ankle injury against Arsenal, this means Ciaran Clark will most likely fill in. But, midfielder Sylla is available for selection. Chris Herd is still out injured.

Facts:
Chelsea have won each of their last three Barclays Premier League clashes with Aston Villa, scoring 14 goals.
Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer Frank Lampard has scored 13 times against Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League; more than against any other side.
Jose Mourinho has won none of his last four Premier League matches against Aston Villa (D3 L1).

Predicted Lineups:

Cech
Ivanovic-Terry-Cahill-Cole
Van Ginkel-Lampard
Schrulle-Mata-Hazard
Torres

Agbonlahor-Benteke-Weimann
Delph-Westwood-El Ahmadi
Luna-Clark-Vlaar-Lowton
Guzan
Final Predictions:
Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa
We did beat Arsenal, however I think Chelsea is a different animal and they have so much squad depth. They can afford to rest their key players and replace them with equally talented footballers, Lambert doesn’t quite have the luxury. Also, we’re playing at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho has never lost there and I doubt it will happen today, especially since I’m sure Mourinho will stress the threat that Villa does possess on the counter.

  1. Well, that was one the most biased refereeing performance I have ever seen, even worse than the numerous times we have been stitched up by Dowd and Halsey.Friend should be investigated but the FA but nothing will happen. He’ll probably get a promotion for helping out Chelsea. The PL can fuck right off, if it wasn’t for the mighty Villa, I wouldn’t watch a second of this biased farce.
Performance warranted at least a point, Lambert must be fuming. Delph MOTM- he’s going to be a revelation this year I feel (well at least in the games where the Sky 4 refs don’t rob us blind)

Fuckin disgrace Richie hope lambert reports him to fa like we get did. Lets see what happens then. Totally fixed IMO

      1. We should all email the FA.

They don’t give a shit not only do they have most of the sky money most coverage most expensive and best players they still have to cheat to beat a team put together on peanuts

  2. We beat Arsenal away, we made the referee have to put his future on the line to let Chelsea win, I can’t wait to see the rest of the season. Clark wasn’t bad at all btw, only a gash to the head and five stitches had him replaced by Okore, who did a superb job. I think Okore should start now though.

  3. Delph absolutely massive. You can see how much confidence he has when he gets the ball. Okore looked quite good, and the whole team was fighting and full of running. Maybe we could get Tonev on a little bit earlier.

Yep agree okore looked decent for first game. Lambert should of made subs a lot earlier and Delph Shoukd be captain. He is a leader

    Had to comment on tonight:
That performance reminded of the ‘proper’ Villa teams of the 90’s (that’s as far back as I remember) – the types of teams who you thought could win any game, not the last few years when you didn’t think we could win any game.

The midfield 3 were magnificent, as were the defence; Weimann’s chances were the best two of the game; Ivanovic should have been off and was then offside for the winner; and we should have had a penalty.

Draw?! We deserved another away win!

Oh, and Mourinho, I used to think you were great but you are an idiot (that’s putting it very mildly). Even in victory, you managed to be a sore loser. Pathetic!

    UTV!!!

All mourinho is good at us posing and spending obscene amounts of money. You and me could produce a half decent team with 109s of millions to spend

He’s actually becoming cringe-worthy. Hope United hammer them on Monday, and I hate United as much as the next man! It won’t be long before he’s fallen out with everyone and disgraced himself, just like he did in Spain. Worse than a spoilt child!

Enough about that fool. Just thinking, if we can get a class playmaker in before the deadline, we could really kick on…

  5. i think were sounding a bit like arsenal fans here suck it up and move on brilliant performance from our whole team and away support really confident for the future

    1. I think that’s the point BB we won saturday and the ref was impartial, he gets suspended so that leads directly to the performance of the ref tonight and that is why people are so pissed off.

      1. are you sure the ref was suspended and not just rotated like he was scheduled to be this weekend i think that rumour came from an arsenal blog

Eh???? The ref was suspended??? What for???

          1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
            OohAhPaulMcGrath

For not letting arsenal win of course. Which is why the ref didn’t give pen of course as he thought he’d get same treatment. If Chelsea were winning 4.0 then it would of been given but not at 2.1 to them mourinho wouldn’t like it

        2. It came from more than one source but could I definitively say he was suspended? No mate.

I hope not! There’s no hope if he was! That’s basically the powers saying to refs: ”make sure the Sky 4 win.”

I’d be shocked if he was suspended to what was an excellent, brave performance…

          2. Caughtoffside

Taylor has subsequently been dropped for any Premier League action this weekend.

I hope for and expect an electric atmosphere at VP on Saturday. COME ON!!!!!!

  7. yeah that first emerged about an hour after the game on Saturday, now the premier league are not famed for being rapid with there decisions and if they acted that quick it does leave them open to corruption charges, so think this is a little bit of mischief from some gooners the little scamps.

We should do the same it’s time sky 4 were exposed

  8. also i don’t think he was working this weekend anyway

I watched game and until we scored we were getting hammered dven though one nil. If u you read my comments from second half they are all positive but u won’t mention that coz all u do is big on the bad stuff

OohAah.. I did say I read only first page.. It not about the positive stuff it’s the fact u go way over the top on negative stuff..

They are prem favourites and there home ground is a fortress.. What did u expect first half. They had a lot if possession but they didn’t do anything with it.. I didn’t see chance after chance for them in the first half.. Yet by ur posting it was complete anhiliation..

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

In terms of possesion it was but fair point they didn’t create many chances and lucky to win in the end

P.s any comments i make are overall banter.. this site allows us to do that which is what makes it good..

  12. I’m trying to see how we as fans , can do things that has never been done before, by showing the F A that true fans of the game care when refs blatently get it wrong and get away with the help from the F A , our fans could when televised sing out their disbelieve to the camera singing Chelsea cheaters, FA is corrupt, I know it sounds silly but by fuck we was robbed and should not take it. As someone said one day this will come back and be as they said another Italian scandle. I’m wound up so much it hurts.
