Burnley – Villa; Hopefully, we get the points

It’s the same old rhetoric, I know, but there are no easy games in the Premier league and I certainly don’t expect this one to be easy either.
But it would seem this is definitely a game where we should be looking to take all three points.
That’s by no means an automatic assumption though and I certainly don’t want it to sound like that.
But if we’re to survive this season, this is exactly the sort of game that we need to win.

Although I’m sure I don’t need to tell any of you that and it’s just stating the obvious.

Squad news is that we’re all good apart from Henri Lansbury, who can’t seem to get any luck at all and injured himself before the Brighton game. Anyone else get the feeling he’s one of those who just doesn’t look like he’ll ever feature for us?
And Jonathan Kodjia, who is training with a mask, but is still short from returning.
Which reminds me, we apparently contemplating letting him go for £7 million to some Turkish side, I think it is. Yeah right. We’ve only three strikers, one of them young and inexperienced and we’re going to let him go for that much?
I know he’s out of contract at the end of the season, but it just wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever and I call BS on the whole story.

So what do I think?
Not a clue, to be honest.
But I do think our points haul to date doesn’t really match our standard of play and performance.
If nothing else, we’re due a break and it would be really nice to gain another three points and make us look in a much better position.

A defeat today wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I suspect it would have the press speculating like crazy and very many of us quite worried.

Not that I think we won’t get anything out of the game.
I’m going for a 2-1 win, but think a 1-1 draw might be nearer the mark, to be honest.
Which would be a little underwhelming/disappointing.
But every point counts and Burnley won’t be the easiest game we get this season, even if they’re apparently transitioning to a more expansive game.
Let’s hope they get it wrong and we can take advantage.

  1. Late VAR , Targett off side, they had the ball on the start line for var to call the late off side. Again cock up ..

  2. Is it 1-0? F*** VAR! It is slowing the game down and fans don’t know whether to celebrate or not.

  3. Grealish shot great save goalkeeper corner . red corner in a row , free kick Grealish half time.

  4. i am furious with that first goal called offside WAS IT ? offside. i seen replays but no lines and their left back looked to be playing us onside. this var is a load of bollocks.

still we scored another so up yours. we are villa and beat 12 men every week.

playing good today against a very well drilled side and they play aggressively which we have to stand up too and so far so good.

  5. just heard that the villa goal has been scrubbed off H/T nil nil lmao just joking bet. i bet you var and the officials will be working hard to screw us over second half

another note first half was the amounts of fouls committed on mcginn, no yellows shown to any of the offenders, also barnes shown a yellow for mouthing off to mason, then fouled grealish just as grealish was heading into the box, their manager is warming up rodriguez so he knows he should have seen another yellow and knows his head has gone

    1. Barnes was close to being sent off.
And yes McGinn is getting the “treatment”. Smith has complained about a lack of protection and rightly so.

That’s another thing I like about McGinn, if he goes down, you know he isn’t pretending.

  6. Comms criticising Wesley for not attacking the ball against Mee enough.
And then the ball clatters him in the face and he’s gone down.
