I’m really not sure that I have much to say that’s any different from what I’ve said in the last few weeks, to be honest.
It’s very much the same old, same old, where we just have to keep winning games if we’re to get a play-off place.
Yet we haven’t been achieving those wins and we’ve only got six points from our last five games.
How we’re still in the top six (via goal difference) is somewhat beyond me.
Yet we are where we are and it could definitely be worse.
Unfortunately, this is another Sky game, where I fully expect our poor run of televised games to continue.
The good news is I’ve done my tax returns and have the added bonus where I’m due a few quid back.
Which means, having subscribed for a one week Sky pass, I’ll be able to watch the game.
So what do we know?
Brentford sit in 12th place and their form is a bit better than ours, in having eight points from the last five games. The same as us, they’ve only lost once, so are obviously fairly tough to beat.
Squad-wise, Josh Clarke and Henrik Dalsgaard might be in contention to return tonight while Alan Judge continues to work his way back to full-fitness. Up front Lasse Vibe lasted an hour on Friday on his return from a three-week injury lay-off, so he might be doubtful.
On our part, Gabby is out (again), along with John Terry, Henri Lansbury, Chris Samba and Jonathan Kodjia.
Onomah might be available.
You can see Steve Bruce’s words in the Twitter timeline on the right of the page (or maybe not, as I’m seeing “media can’t be played?).
So I can’t see much changing team-wise, with the only question being will Bruce go with Jedinak as a central defender again after his poor showing in the last game?
We have Elphick available, but will Bruce use him? It might be good timing for him to put himself in the shop window, but I don’t see it, as much as it’s the pragmatic option.
Against my better judgement, I think Grealish will start, as he did at least offer something. I still don’t see that we have the team that suits his play, but there you go.
It seems Hogan will start too, as the manager has been talking about how it’s his time and as much as I’d like him to come good, I just don’t see that either.
Prediction time then and I’m going for the draw, as I really don’t see much else.
Brentford are tough to beat, we don’t look much like scoring and we’re on Sky again, where it seems we never win.
Then add in that they beat us 3-0 last season and I certainly don’t see us winning.
Which all in all sees me a bit depressed and longing for the days where we could strongly expect a win.
I’m tempted to say 0-0, but I’ll go for the 1-1.
Nothing really new to say, tbh.
We need a striker who’s actually going to score.
Grealish has to play. He is the only one who has offered anything going forward in the last 2 games. We need to build the team around him.
The best news is gabby being injured which hopefully frees up a spot on the bench for O’Hare.
ohare will get his chance.with the amount of games and our lack of fit players. the youngsters will all get a sniff. its how they handle the chance, will they stake a claim like green and davis or not.
gabby is not a ohare type, he is more in competition with lansbury and onomah grealish. onomah should be looking for a deeper role so hare could be on standby behind grealish
i would be more concerned or worried about the defence, as we are piss poor and that is not a under statement. teams like utd last week have exposed a very suspect back line. playing high and lacking pace. full backs pushing even higher, leaves loads of space to hit, down the sides of our defence and over in behind.
the funny thing or scary is sheff utd lacked pace up front. if bentford have a speedy forward we are in trouble, playing as we do
Well we better win because at the moment we are 8th place, is this the slide back to realism? been watching football all day with the last game Burton and Leeds, score? 2-1 Brentford.
Got 2 hard games next as well. Trust is to play Boro now that Pulis has them fired up 😓
Well blow me down, we actually have some attacking options on the bench!
Agree with the team but would of liked to of seen O’hare instead of Onomah.
Think we have a chance tonight with that team. Providing we play football and not hoofball.
Onomah not playing nor Elmo thankfully. Both shite
Onomah is on the bench. I would of liked to of seen O’hare on the bench instead.
Hutton in and it looks like a 4-4-1-1 with Grealish behind Hogan.
This’ll be interesting.
No attacking threat in the middle.
This will indeed be interesting.
brentford are passing and moving, they haveplenty options for the guy with the ball. we lack movement so our passes are easy to press.
Onomah on for Adomah.
Unbelievable 🙁
another injury oh dear
Just balls in a vague area over the halfway line….and now a goal down…
they are brazil in disguise
“Struggling to get Hogan and Grealish into the game”
What a surprise.
Last 10 mins possession is all in Bees favour.
Was that Whelan who gave that away AGAIN!!!
0-1 and you could see it coming.
Game over already, I suspect.
Whelan nut megged, I’ll ask a simple question, is this team able to get us promotion? Not on your nellie.
see that hutton ball then to nobody is all we do. because nobody is offering themselves
But experience means everything in this league and they’re proven so they shouldn’t make mistakes every game… I swear I read experience was the most important thing in this league… So…
I don’t think experience has anything to do with anything today, Andrew.
I hinted at it last time.
We’re just shit.
And Onomah scores. 1-1.
Thank god.
About time people are turning the corner on the whole, experience means something.
now we are finally moving
and we score because we moved for the guy on the ball
This football lark is simple if you pass a few times.
Nice goal from Onomah but we are awful.
should be a yellow that fouling shit
they started so confident now they are making mistakes, swings and roundabouts
Yep, very cynical foul on Grealish and rightly booked..
