Bologna – Villa; Europa league

I think I’m going to start this post with a warning.

It’s 100% contoversial, negative and thoroughly depressing.

I care that little I’ve even got the fixture the wrong way round.

So if you don’t want to hear that, just stop now and move along. There’s nothing for you to see.

So I received an Email from the club this afternoon entitled “It’s matchday in the Europa league”

And do you know what my honest thought was? “I really couldn’t care less”.

And I’m sorry, but that’s about the truth of it. I watched Braga vs Feyenoord last night and all the way through I found myself thinking that both of them will probably beat us. You know why? They play with pace, passion and belief. And overall confidence.

Whereas we seem totally devoid of all those attributes at the moment. By far my biggest priority is Premier league survival. Am I going way over the top? I honestly don’t think so. Apparently Emery has had similar runs to the load of rubbish we’ve witnessed up to now, before.

Great and that’s okay then. Except I honestly think we’ve looked so poor and just miles off it, that I am seriously worried about our survival. You name it and everything that was good about our displays has totally disappeared. And the thing is I’m really not sure Emery can turn it around.

We can’t even go out and get a bit of quality to boost the squad in the winter window either, by the look of it.

Anyway, so much for my totally depressing thinking.

Squad news and I can’t find any.

No, Villa, I don’t want to watch a bloody video. What’s wrong with putting it in print, as per normal?

You know something? I’m not even sure I’m going to bother watching it.

The football will probably be utter junk, after all and if the team can’t be bothered, why should I?

Okay, I’m lying. I 99% won’t be able to resist.

Am I predicting a win?

I’m certainly not expecting one, as much as we beat them 2-0 without any serious problem last season.

I’ll go for a narrow win and it’s more in hope than anything.

Come on Villa, give us something to smile about, eh?

A 1-0 Villa win.

UTV!

  1. I’m flying from Halifax (that’s Nova Scotia not Yorkshire 🙂 ) to New York so will miss the game.

According to Badger I’m the fortunate one!

    UTV

  2. I’ve got very little enthusiasm for this game like you Badger.
Emery likes to control games with a high percentage of possession. What it really is however is slow backwards and sideways walking football in the defensive third. Martinez not in the squad again so make of that what you want.
We have no speed and no penetration in the business end and unless there’s a change in philosophy and the players want to prove they aren’t lazy, then I don’t expect anything from tonight.

  3. Just what we wanted, I see Rodger missed the ball completely, just looked up to see him give the ball away again. He’s bloody liability in the team is Rodgers.

    1. I admit he has been awful this season. I was only winding you up mate.

On another note, it seems we aren’t messing about with this sidewards, backwards crap anywhere near as much and are going much more direct.
      About bleeding time!
And don’t we look much better for it?

  4. An improvement so far although Bologna came back at us in the last 20 minutes of the half. Malen and Rogers, if only they could control and pass the ball! Kamara has been our best player so far by a country mile. Cash needs to be careful now he’s on a yellow.

  5. It’s got to be confidence with Rogers. It’s not possible to perform the way he did last season and suddenly turn into the rubbish he’s been this season. He can’t do a single thing right and needs dropping, for me.

  6. Rodger’s needs to be dropped along with about time Olly
Passengers at best . Can’t start games with 9 men
And it’ll give them both something to sulk about properly instead of the delusional moves they thought they were going to get

  7. The big question is what to do with Rogers.
Does Emery sub him and give Elliott time or hope that Rogers gets a break and scores, and then motor on from there.

I think he will give him time.

Badger spot on with the playing it forward. I’m more positive about my drive from Portsmouth to Villa Park and back again on Sunday!

  8. Give you that Badger , yes lot better still unsure with midfield one being Buendia and you’ve named the other for me . Writing this and lo and behold showing me Rodgers again . Had to laugh.

  9. The guy ( Rodger’s ) is colour blind
Disinterested and lacks the quality to pass to a team mate
Sit him in his backside along with Olly
World Cup year . Them see how hungry they are to succeed

      1. Agree on his day he’s quality
        But massive But
        He ain’t at the minute
2 yard passes cannot even execute them

  10. Watching from my phone I a hospital bed after gallbladder surgery in a lot of pain but that pain isn’t as bad as watching Ollie miss important penalties. UTV

    1. I hope you are feeling better soon. Thank goodness Rogers isn’t your surgeon!
I don’t know if he’s got some illicit photos of Unai or something because he’s been our worst player all season and he’s immune to being substituted.
