Paul Faulkner recently had a online webchat with fans and was asked about Paul Lambert’s contract, whether or not an extension was planed and so on. He replied that the Aston Villa board are relaxed regarding Lambert’s contract considering the fact that there are still 2 more years on it. However he is keen to see Aston Villa have a long term future and success with manager Paul Lambert, also stressed that the board have great relation with the manager and it’s staff.
“We have a fantastic relationship with Paul and his backroom team and he has been great to work with from my point of view.
“I know that he loves being at Villa and we’re looking forward to trying to really achieve something together over the coming years. – Paul Faulkner
I think if Aston Villa have a successful season, Lambert will be given a new contract. I think the fans are keen to have a bit of stability at the club and many fans enjoy and agree with Lambert’s philosophies and the direction that he wants to take the club.
Yeah!… They are waiting until we are relegated, then they can sack him!
After 6-10 games we’ll see how “relaxed” they are one way or the other UTV
Lets face it… We have bought cheap players inorder to be ready for the championship!
Still no decent DM or CB… asking for trouble… Championship here we come!
My thoughts exactly mate. If we got a half decent dm and ch we could easily go for top 8 IMO without them we will be bottom 8
Wow hang on lads, businessman sence here would you not think? Supposing just supposing things go tits up 1/2 way into the season I for one would not like to find its going go cost millions to change managers , seems the board are being sensible in waiting to see how it pans out, Lambert is no idiot he happy with things at the moment so don’t rock the boat asking for long contracts. Hey that’s my look at things and IMO. 🙂
My point exactly mate, we’ll have a better idea of how things are going to be looking this season after 6-10 games in, after that we’ll probably see move made either way, unless we continue our record breaking ‘draw’ tally (currently top in PL history) then we’ll probably continue to see a “relaxed” attitude
Don’t forget our record hammering and record number of games without a clean sheet which I see no end to tbh. Looks like we will still have to score 2 goals a game just to get a draw!!
Agree for once the juries still out on lambert in my opinion especially as we achieved lots of unwanted records last season and stayed up by virtue of a good couple of months at the end of season. He still dosnt seem to have sorted the defence out and the players he has signed are hit and miss. But by Xmas we will have a better idea. In lamberts defence he is working to Lerner’s remit of signing unproven players on the cheap in the hope they will come good for us and increase in value. The big question is what is Lerner really after is it for Villa to be challenging again over the next few years or is it simply to stay up and anything more is a bonus. Judging by the last few years it looks like the latter therefore lambert has in theory over achieved but using that analogy so did mcleish though lambert plays better football.
We have been taken for mugs again! Over 20,000 ST sold and how do they reward our loyalty? Not at all by the way things are going. All this shit about having to sell Bent etc before we can buy. Why?…. Whats happened to the extra sky money?… Randy’s wallet must be bursting by now. We are now a club that aim at 14th or 15th place. Its pathetic for a club of our size and stature!… I for one have had enough. Will spend my Saturdays supporting my local non league club…at least they show some signs of ambition!
Selling Bent might be to do with bringing in some cash to pay for newcomers, and losing his £70k per week or whatever it is wage. Bear in mind selling him, along with Ireland and N’Zogbia, will make the club a nice healthy loss of about £20million when you take into account what we paid and what we’ll get for them. That lot plus Given must be on £200k per week in wages alone.
I think wev already saved 250k without bent
Don’t blame u unfortunately 20,000 st holders a d most posters on here are now happy with that. So Lerner and co have succeeded
I’m sure there’s money. The issue is the wage budget. The club has only added to it, instead of reducing it like that club would like to. Selling players is the key right now and the more outcasts we sell, the more wage money there will be.
I also suspect Lambert is saving some of the money for January.
He shouldn’t have to save money till jan. he should be given another 20m now why should we wait till jan and in trouble then pay over inflated prices. Players signed in jan rarely come good. Plus Lerner has enough money for £20m now and a £10m contingency for jan if needed though if 15-20m spent now in dm and ch there will be no need to spend in jan as squad will be good enough for a top 10 finish
Are you Randy’s accountant?
Lol how did you know 🙂
Its a ‘piss take’ simple as that!
Neg neg neg.
Ya the dopey mugs who hav paid for a season ticket to SUPPORT their club and ENJOY watching football! Not like the geniuses who post amazing comments on websites and know literally noting about football or business, everybody was so positive when we signed 6 highly rated youngsters but now the negative geniuses have turned most against the club they hav supported most their lives, the best fans in the world those negs, and what has changed since those positive days when we signed those 6 players? Oh ya benteke signed a new contract wtf are randy and Lambert doin? I tell you what their not doin, running the club into the ground like retard fans would be doing if they had control cause they know Fuck all about Fuck all.
Come on lads the season hasn’t started yet we could still win the league, belive 3 wins on the bounce and the worlds ours Utv
Plus as we rebuild without OOHAH’s millions and we all think realistically we’ll finish somewhere between 9th and 14th, even if we did lose to Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool (who everyone predicts will finish in the top 6 or 7) it’s not the end of the world, we’re not currently a top 6 team, we will lose matches this season and they’re likely to be against teams fighting for Europe. Draws and wins would be great but realistically playing Arsenal and Chelsea away we’re likely to lose both. Except we did do rather well away from home last season…
Dont forget, correct me if I’m wrong but are we not undefeated against mourinho when he was Chelsea manager? Or at least we had a very good record against them during his time there, good omens and all that!
Not undefeated but think we lost 2 drew 4 in the league so were not out of it we could always get a draw at arsenal and a draw at Chelsea wouldn’t be the worst start!
I don’t think he ever won at VP though we had a better team then.
