Arsenal – Villa Preview; Tough one, this

If you look at this game on paper, it looks like it’s all over for us even before we kick off, doesn’t it?
And to be honest, I suspect that’s about right, as in my heart of hearts, I don’t feel we’re going to get anything out of it.
Even the bookies, who are generally correct most of the time, rate us as having practically no chance whatsoever; I’m currently seeing odds as low as 9/2 on for Arsenal and 13/1 for a Villa win for example.
So an Arsenal win’s in the bag then.
Or is it?

There are some factors in our favour though, that make that 13/1 worth a couple of quid as a punt, in my opinion (not that I’m a betting man really and I’m not encouraging gambling at all).
First, we actually have a very decent record over recent years at the Emirates.
I’m sure many will remember some of Gabby’s goals and it seems he’s fit and will again be a threat with his pace.
Christian Benteke has scored three goals in four appearances against Arsenal.
And we’re actually quite difficult to score against, if the defence is playing well.

Then again, lately, we’ve struggled to score. Let’s not forget we’re just shy of nine hours playing time in the Prem without a goal. I’m going to turn that around though and say that the longer we go without scoring, the more likely we have to be to score, surely?
Hence, I’m expecting us to get a goal.

The big question for me, is how is Lambert going to play this one?
I’d expect Sinclair to at least play and he’ll probably start, else why buy a wide player, if Lambert isn’t looking to add width?
So who loses out?
As per usual, I don’t have a clue how Lambert sees things, so I’ll just see on the day.

Team news?

Gabby’s fit, but we still have Cole, Vlaar and Sendoros out.
Arsenal have Wellbeck as a possible, but doubtful.

So how do I see things panning out?

Well, I’ve tried to be optimistic and although I think we’ll score one, I can’t see us getting the result we want.
It’s got to be a 2-1 loss, I’m afraid.

You just never know though and I’ll have my fingers crossed.

  1. Funny how we have 15 plus passes and barely get in to a promising position, yet every other team we play 3 or 4 passes and they’re having a shot at goal. We’ve got it completely wrong. Lambert has to go after this.

  2. Who the fuck is coaching corners and free kicks. We may as well not get corners. We do fuck all with them.

  3. 4 now. How many are Chelsea going to stick past us???
Come on Lambert, this is a disgrace

  4. The really frightening thing is that lambert won’t be sacked no matter how much we lose by were going down

  5. Chelsea will be able to rest their keeper and play eleven outfield players and we still won’t score. It’s not the result that anoys me. It’s the performance. Apsolutely pathetic.

    1. We are just reliant on teams below us failing. How can a team that’s only scored 11 goals not be in the bottom 3 Ffs. Shows how shit the prem really us

  6. We fully deserve to get relegated. Were the only club that lacks any ambition and desire. Week in week out qpr, hull, Burnley, Leicester all battle bravely we just roll over before a ball has been kicked. I think we need relegation to sort this mess out and I will happily accept it now.

  7. Was nt expecting anything out of this game. Fuck me let, 4 in passed us. This is a training session for Arsenal. Lambert you prick you are taken use down. Please sack this twat.

    1. Get your maps put to find where the championship grounds are. Benteke isn’t worth ten Bob on this showing – we would do better without him on the pitch as we’re effectively playing with ten men. Apart from Clark and Gil, the rest were a wast of space.

And – wait for it ………….. Another new record for our manager. The first time in the whole of our history that we have gone six league games without a goal Shame on everyone connected with the club.

  8. Lol. At least most of you lot will be happy. Will have plenty to whine about.

It was attrocious, nobody played well and don’t get any easier next. Lambert’s not going to get sacked to can you please please please stop filling the feed with it!!!! You won’t get him sacked on here!!!

    1. H. I don’t enjoy moaning and gave tried to keep a balanced perspective. Objectively we are a very poor side and at present I can’t see anyway that we can avoid the drop. We’ve now amassed 12 points from the last 19 games and failed to score in at least 11 of those; by far the worst record of any club in the EPL. If you can tell me how we are going to survive then my liver, at least, would have a chance!
