Anyone think we should go three at the back for the next couple of games?

It’s a very quick one, but given the two very tough games we have coming up next, where we frankly have very little or even nothing to lose, this idea has been running around my mind for a couple of weeks.

We’ve faced Norwich and Brighton, who both played expansive, attacking games, which suits us.
And done very well.

But while I think we can go toe to toe with most teams if they want to go all out, the two next opponents are a class apart.

My worry about these two fixtures is not scoring goals.
It’s more about conceding them and we know Citeh especially, score for fun.

It just makes sense to me, as we all know Targett is way better going forward than defending.
I haven’t quite worked Guilbert out yet, but he seems equally good at both, although I suspect he too, is better going forward.

So why not try them as wingbacks?

The only problem is I don’t know who plays where at the back.
Probably Mings Left CB, Engels Right CB and Konsa in the middle?
Or Hause, Mings and Engels, maybe?

Or is that a pie in the sky idea?

All I know is, I was speaking to a Pool fan today and he thought Man Utd set up very well against them with three at the back and the wingbacks worried them.

I don’t particularly expect Dean Smith to actually do it, as he probably wants to stick to his system and make the players more used to it.

But it strikes me we have the full backs to do it, so why not?
Like I said, we don’t have much to lose.

Hope this doesn’t become embarrassing. Luiz and Nakamba haven’t linked well together and Wesley hasn’t had the blinder we needed.

I get the feeling you’re not a Wesley fan, Bill.

He’s glued to the spot Bum Bum, shrugs shoulder and shows me he’s want player’s to do the work. In other words doesn’t do enough in the game.

          Would you have Benteke back?

“Davis clearly more mobile than Wesley”
And he’s only been on a couple of minutes!
    Hmm.

Nothing wrong with VAR today. Yes slow but the right decisions. Just our standard 2nd half sloppy showing. Defence gone to shit this half. Would be nice to just get one for the away fans.

Why not give Davis the next 8-9 games and make a judgment. Davis looks more of a presence but can he get the goals?

I like Davis to be fair he looks like he has come on a bit. Like you say just needs the games.

Probably because Smith hasn’t yet made a judgement about Wesley.
You’d think it isn’t far off though.

We had a footballing lesson but didn’t disgrace ourselves. We had a couple of chances but didn’t take them. Players came out half asleep 2nd half and set the tone for the rest of the game. Hope Jack isn’t badly injured and his substitution was only precautionary.

disappointing result but expected if we are honest. didn’t think 3 nil reflected the game. we made a few defensive errors which contributed to our downfall. city first was a sucker punch we never recovered from. you reappear from your h/t oranges lol you got to be ready to see out the first 5 or 10 mins of the first second half minutes. both teams will have new instructions to implement and conceding so early fook up our game plans up.

oh well on to pool after the cup scrap with wolves
