Villareal tickets; A total joke.

So I’m over here in Spain and we’ve been informed by a Villareal person over the phone that there is no home or away setup at Spanish grounds.
I was already pretty sure of that anyway and given that I registered as a member on the Villareal site about a month ago, I proceeded to book this morning.

You simply cannot book on the section of the Fundo Norte, that is supposedly where the away fans tend to congregate, so I tried to book the closest section to it.
I managed to book a couple of seats for me and the missus, but after going through all the usual rubbish, the transaction failed.
The money is pending in my Wise account (highly recommend them, by the way) so now I don’t know if I’ve got them or not. As soon as I’d booked them, they disappeared from the options.

A phone call to the Villa says they’ve had no information from Villareal and that’s why there are no mentions on the OS.

Now I don’t know if that’s true or not, but either way, I think it’s scandalous.
How can away fans be expected to attend when, with only three days to go, you can’t buy a ticket?

It’s not so bad for me, as I’m driving up to Benidorm anyway on that day and will be quite close. But imagine if you want to go and have to book a flight and car hire etc? Two hopes.

I’ve been trying to think of reasons why this whole set up is just wrong and can’t think of anything.
I heard it might be because I don’t have an EU account. Except I do, so it’s not that.

Apparently a few people have tried to book and have experienced similar errors and been refunded.
The only thing I can do now is wait to see if the payment goes through and if it doesn’t, I’m going to try cash on the door, which I suspect will be ok.

As for the 37.50 cheapest cost of a ticket, all I can say is that’s a joke too. For a friendly, where we might play a bunch of kids?

  1. Oh, it looks like it will be pretty close to a sellout.
    23,000, bloody hell!
Consider the population is only around twice that, from what I’ve read.

  2. Good luck to u. Sounds like a rubbish ticketing system more than anything, especially if you purchase using yr phone!
Should be a good and proper tussle! Hope Partey isn’t playing. Huge backlash in Spain over his move there…

  3. Everton offering £18m for our Captain!!! And Barcodes sniffing after him too. No chance boys!!!!!

  4. Villans travelling to Villareal may have 2 duff journeys in a row if they read Birmingham Lies. According to Clownley’s rag this morning Villa “travel to Newcastle on August 16th”. Both Lies readers may find St James strangely quiet for a match day with the Toon Army mustering in Aston.

    1. Embarrassing. There has to be a line where you’re not considered a journalist by law if you fall below certain standards. Inaccuracy of primary school levels of factual information would be well well below that line. Don’t they teach proof-reading any more? Basic research and fact checking? Just plop any old shit out and hope for the best, eh?

      1. Yes BFR. The brains at BL are exhausted after dreaming up a new click-bait misleading headline for an article. Yesterday’s low was a headline about Villa over an article about Blues.

  5. Got my ticket online wondered why not much available now you say it’s a sell out explains alot
