£8.5 Million Bid for Jordan Ayew Accepted

Aston Villa have had a bid accepted from Lorient for striker Jordan Ayew. Ayew is a young striker from Ghana that has often played either up front or out wide. That will explain why he had scored 12 goals in 26 games for Lorient last season. Ayew is an experienced player having made over 111 appearances with Marseille and 28 appearances for Ghana.

Skysports believes that Ayew is a direct replacement for Christian Benteke and will be arriving in Birmingham in the next 24 hours to discuss terms and hold a medical. Jordan Ayew is the younger brother of Andre Ayew who had recently transferred to Swansea.

Ayew is a good player, however his stats don’t look to great. For a £8.5 million fee it could end up being a good deal as Ayew can play in either midfield or up front. It’s unsure weather Ayew will be Villa’s only forward brought into the club. Nonetheless having watched a few international games, Ayew does look decent and will add to Villa’s squad doubtfully. He is only 23 and will certainly develop with the aid of Tim Sherwood and the other staff at the club.

Adam – really think we need another class CB (let Baker go to Burnley) and possibly RB although Bacuna can play that role. I think we will sign Cambiasso and there’s a lot of talk about Gestede (sp) from Blackburn. Be surprised if we sign Destro or Austin and the Rolan speculation appears to be just that.

Skybet now have Villa clear favourites to sign Cambiasso – reckon that would be a good piece of business. Perhaps we could ship Joe Cole to the MLS?

Great another OAP mercenary joins us

Did you just call a guy who spent 6 years at Real, 10 years at Inter and then went to Leicester a mercenary? Cambiasso’s like the furthest thing from.

But he’s to old for us. Even Gerard was struggling last year

Arguable, looked pretty good for Leicester.

I see that reports are emerging that Lorient are blocking Ayew’s transfer despite Villa meeting their asking price of €12m – seems they’ve decided that as Villa are in the English PL they can afford more and have increased the price to €17m. Ayew is in UK and has basically told Lorient he’s not going back. According yo several reports. If true this is a predictable outcome of the widespread ‘throwing money around’ of teams like Citeh coupled with the ongoing financial difficulties in Europe. End of the inexpensive Europen imports may well be here!

Has Ayew pulled an Odemwingie? Oh dear. Get the deal done – we’ve been missing a loose canon for a while.

sounds like an interesting meeting between him and the club. he even brought his dad for back up. i wonder if it went a bit jeremy kyle.

    1. hmmm my instinct would be to let that transfer die, Don’t want to get in the middle of that.
Also might send a message about the transfer fees .. try to rip us off and we can go elsewhere. it may be only half true, but other clubs would think twice of jacking it up at the last minute

Sounds like another benteke even threatening to go on strike. At least we will flog him for £30m in 2 years

  4. Its Villa’s fault for fucking it up in the first place. This would NOT have happened if Villa recognised the simple concept of ‘forward planning’ which I have stressed so many times on here! The admin/financial side of the club is a disgrace. Wheres ‘our saviour’ Tom Fox? I thought he was supposed to be a financial genius whereby we start getting our act together.

Its obvious to every man on the planet that ‘you ALWAYS buy before you sell’! I have said it on here numerous times. The buying price was always going to rise after the Benteke sale. Even the blind can see that! Every man and his dog knew that he was leaving so why wait until he has gone to get a replacement? I dont sell my car and walk 20 miles to work until I purchase another one! Even a kid should be able to understand the concept of ‘forward planning’.

Another pathetic example of the club which is a shambles…..why dont they ever learn?

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Disagree Liverpool didn’t replace sterling or Suarez until they went. Though we should have a player lined up at least

  5. Oohah…so Liverpool dont forward plan either? Two wrongs dont make a right mate! Its because we dont plan ahead that we fight relegation battles year after year! Sir Ron wouldnt allow it. And BTW, I presume that Ayew is Weimann’s replacement, which means they have had even longer to get their act together……pathetic!

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Errm actually sir Ron didn’t buy until he sold Gray. He then signed wither Morley Bremner with the money

  6. Oohah….what the fuck are you going on about…non of that shit you are spouting makes it right! Maybe you should take over from Fox as you both sound as dumb as each other. Whatever way you look at it its a complete and utter balls up yet again!

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

It is a balls up but this is villa what do u expect! You can’t judge till window is over as no idea who we will or won’t sign.

      1. I expect Mr Fox to justify his massive salary by planning ahead and being pro active…..not too much to ask for is it?

        1. Personally I can’t see Mr Fox really giving a shit what you expect Langford, but then again you do claim to know an awful lot on how to run a football club including management of the team, coaching methods and transfer procedures as well as to what goes on behind the scenes at AVFC, meaning I could be totally wrong. But somehow I doubt it. 😉

    2. Andrew avatar

It’s called business mate. If we signed Austin and didn’t sell Benteke (for example), that’s 15m PLUS WAGES (something people never seem to add into transfers) that could’ve been either spent elsewhere or not spent at all. You also have to realize how big our team is. We’ve sold 2 players that played for us last season, 3 if you count Lowton. And then Vlaar, Our large squad, yes it actually is big, needs to be lightened up before we start a spending spree you want.

  7. I NEVER mentioned ‘a spending spree’ so I dont know where that comes from??? I simply asked for the club to be pro active and plan ahead! Its a fundamental part of life….and without it life becomes problematic, hence the reason why Lorient have upped the price. Its a really simple concept!

    1. Hitchens 60 avatar
      Hitchens 60

Sorry Langford but this time I think you’re wrong. There is no evidence of any club buying on the assumption of losing a player – quite the contrary in fact. I understand your frustrations but hitting out at anyone in senior management at the club is an emotional rather than rational response.

Based on Ayew’s comments this is not about racking up the price because of Benteke’s sale but a wider problem related to the perceived wealth of PL clubs. According to Ayew, Lorient would have accepted €12m from (say) Marseille but want more because ‘PL clubs are wealthy and can afford it’. I think PL clubs generally are about to reap the ‘rewards’ of an unsustainable influx of cash from Sky. Mark my words this will all end badly (if you don’t believe me just look at the history of the UK / World economy over the last 15 to 20 years – bubbles burst!)

    2. ORIGINALLONDONLION avatar
      ORIGINALLONDONLION

Like forward planning for the sale of Delph, Langford? We bought his replacement in advance of selling him as you suggested. Then whoops he says he isn’t leaving – so we have to tell him to f/o because somebody’s got his shirt!

    3. You have mentioned a spending spree Langford. You’ve said on previous posts that Sherwood should get ALL the money from the Delph and Benteke sales as well as the customary 10-15-20 million we usually spend. That would be at least 50 million quid to spend on new players. For a club in our position that’s quite a “spree”. 😉 😉

      1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
        OohAhPaulMcGrath

We could afford to spend £50m though that’s the point. With benteke and Delph money plus new TV deal we could easily afford it

        1. Oh, you’ve seen the books too? You should also contact Fox and tell him how to do his job.

Sunday People claim Austin’s demanding £85,000-per-week, I’d be put off by that if I were Villa. £15m and those kind of wages which are higher than what Benteke was on, over the top if he really wants to leave QPR.

I agree it is too much. A performance related deal which paid Austin that much if he scores+assists 30 goals might be /ok, but with a lower basic.

It will be Jordan Ayew and Adebayor up front for us, Sir Tim has already commented he is not interested in Austin… I am not a great fan of Adebayor, but can see this being a very good option…. I have my positive head on today, let the transfers continue

        1. Andrew avatar

I dunno, I think we’ll see Kozak starting. Probably with Ayew.

  10. I’d love him at the VILLA but his wage demands are a wee bit much if true.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

40k a week tops is all Austin is worth. Don’t forget how injury prone he is and likely to miss a big chunk of games at some point

  11. ORIGINALLONDONLION avatar
    ORIGINALLONDONLION

Now for the other positions that need strengthening. I have given up hoping that Sherwood replaces Kermit, though Steer has improved and might claim the jersey and hold it. A RB and another CB are up there. Hutton’s positional sense was woeful last season, and that is hard to remedy in a player his age. I don’t agree Senderos is crap when playing, but he does get injured easily and does not recover for months so in effect he is useless. Baker is far too slow and if we can flog him to Burnley it is a good deal for both.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Sendross is probably more error prone than vlaar and that’s saying something

  12. I personally think we need 2 strikers, a right winger , a centre attacking midfielder and a centre back.
That’s 5 players and with my realistic head on I would say we would be looking at getting in 2 or 3 at a real stretch!
If we are going with just 2 to 3 then the absolute prioty is a striker, right winger and centre back!
For those who request a right back look no further than Micah Richards. I hate the though of him playing centre back. He is a decent right back so let’s not ruin that for ourselves please!!!!!
For those who ever ever played a little football know that the difference between right back and centre back is a lot. Sorry but Micah does not cut it there for me. Also whilst I’m on the subject I completley disagree with Micah as our captain and without a doubt this should go to Clark.
I don’t knownwho Micah thinks he is but he hasn’t stopped running his mouth since walking through the door and he seems to have this arrogance and heroship about him.
Stick to you what you know kid, defends the right hand side and run your line. Oh and keep your head down for abit until you have earned you stripes for us please.

Great signings to date with Micah, geueye and Amavi but I fear we look a little of premier league standard but do belive at least 3 additions can really dramtically improve if we make signings of similar calibre.

    1. So Michah doesn’t cut it at centre half, he hasn’t stopped running his mouth since he walked through the door and he seems to have an arrogance and hero-ship about him. Yet you claim he’s a great signing, based on what exactly?

This club needed someone like Richards to walk through the door and play his mouth a little bit. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having confidence about yourself and having the confidence to speak your mind, exactly the kind of traits a “captain” should possess.

Sherwood wants players with a winning mentality. So what’s the point of having a captain who is more use to losing when there is someone who is much more suited to winning? Richards, despite his faults that you claim, is clearly a likeable lad and would have the respect of his team-mates given what he has so far achieved in the game.

Richards makes perfect sense to be given the armband.

Tom, I think TS bought Richards as a centre back and rightly so. He has all the attributes to be exactly what we need in that position. Commanding, powerful, good in the air, pace etc. Reminds me of big Ugo Ehiogu. He would be massively wasted at right back. He won’t play right back unless we’re desperate. I’ve been saying for years we should sign him as a centre back, so was delighted when we did. As for being gobby, like B6 said, we need leaders and TS likes winners. Superb signing, and for free! Could well be the our best buy of the summer.

        1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
          OohAhPaulMcGrath

Nigel reo joker was a motor mouth too but still shit. Though I do rate Richards

  13. Bunn should be captain as he is better qualified than any of our ‘currant’ players….. And fuck off B6……stop bullying me or else expect a call from my social worker. I’m scarred for life by your comments! 🙂

    1. It’s not “bullying” Langford, it’s character building. 🙂

  14. Ok….thank you. Your such a loving and caring person 🙂 Lots of love x Langford x

more news coming in on Jordan Ayew

    http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2015/jordan-ayew-edging-closer-to-aston-villa-move/

if half this story is true im starting to think villa should walk away. this player has a reputation for being trouble and now his agent is meant to be playing silly buggers .

    1. Hmmmm fucking greedy agents today????if we do get him I really hope he’s worth this financial hassle.if not then that’s one in the eye for his agent.I have a feeling VILLA want this guy so who knows what’s round the corner.

      1. Hitchens 60 avatar
        Hitchens 60

Giddy, just read this story. If it us true then Villa should tell Ayew’s agent to ‘do one’ and look elsewhere. I still believe these money problems are a fall out from the perceived wealth of PL clubs with the amount of Sky money coming in – which is hardly a secret. Maybe this is why we’re now being linked with Ntep (sp!)

        1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
          OohAhPaulMcGrath

It’s nothing to do with TV money. They are looking at £40 m we’ve just got from benteke and Delph

      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Sounds like benteke a pain in the star who will join us score 3 goals then threaten to leave for a sky 4 team. No thanks

  16. I agree I wouldn’t be held to ransom, like you say hitch the money in the prem makes clubs & agents hype the prices up.I can’t see this problem being an isolated one between now & the close.

it seems this agent had dealings in bringing Jordan Avami and Idrissa Gueye to villa so i dont think he is the players agent i think he is more of a middle man used by clubs to get deals done. just been checking him out on the net and that’s what it seems , i may be wrong
