Young back to Villa?

I know I really shouldn’t do this, but after watching the rubbish on display today, I thought it was worth a laugh;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2523806/THE-FOOTBALL-GRAPEVINE-Young-lined-Villa-return-Barkley-commit-future-Everton.html

This story is rubbish in so many ways, that it’s, just well… total and utter rubbish.

For a start, we offered Young £70,000 a week to stay, by all accounts.
So why would he accept the £20,000 we’d probably offer him?

Second, he’s a diving idiot, which is why Moyes wants rid (and fair play to him, for that).
And I won’t even mention the fact that he’d be booed everytime he stepped out onto the hallowed turf, purely because he thought he was a big fish in a little pond, who actually turned out to be a very little fish in a big pond.

That, plus the fact that he’s been incredibly poor for Utd.

Then add in the fact that Lambert doesn’t like/understand what wide players might have to offer and you see this link is just a total joke.

It is the Mail though, to be fair, so we shouldn’t be surprised.

If we were ever to re-sign him, I really think I’d never set foot in Villa park again.
It’s that serious.

And I really liked him, when he played for us.

Me too though Adam, private jet and everything, I was really excited at the proposition, even more than Lambert at the time. We were proabably ready to fly him back that same day mate. Personal were discussed and OGS said piss off!

I think everyone was excited by OGS, a young non-British manager with an attacking mentality and modern tactics, the exact opposite of Lamberk. There’s countless good young managers out there, many of whom would have at the time jumped at managing Villa and many young coaches who we could have blood in under the influence of Houllier after his illness.
The board twice opted for dour, useless Scottish managers, the only reason Lamberk hasn’t received the same abuse Mcleish did is because he never managed Birmingham City. Simple as. They are as bad as each other, in fact I found Mcleish more honest and likeable tbh, but thats not saying much as lamberk is as bad as it gets manager wise.
Until we go down the young continental manager route things won’t change, its the only way for a club like ours.

I said a year ago that lambert was no better than mcclown but at least he tried to play decent football. As per usual I got slated for saying this. However I agree Mckeish was doomed from the start even if he had win us the league a lot of people would still be calling for his head. I actually think mcleish has more tactical nous than lamberk.

Well I will admit I did slate that as I didn’t think many could be as bad as McLeish, and while I never wanted Lambert, wow was I wrong. While I don’t think McLeish has more of a tactical nous, they’re both at best Championship managers. There would really be a lot less people on his back if Villa actually tried to play football like Villa did last season, but I guess when your neck is against the wall and your job’s probably on the line, he decided to become a pansy boy and take the easy road of defend a 0-0 draw or attempt it once we get scored on.

I was excited about the OGS link but I’m not really sure why. I think it was mainly because it was so left field. Is he a really attacking minded coach? I have no idea. Yes he managed a small club to success but it’s Norway. Think molde were well down last year as well.

Loads of people wanted Lambert and I wasn’t disappointed when he came. We played some decent football under him in the second half of last season. Maybe we can get back to that standard.. Changing the manager seems to result in failure more often than success.

I can understand people being pissed off though. We are utter crap at the moment.

This is embarrasing… people are actually comparing Lambert to McLeish!! Sure, the position’s we finished in under McLeish in his one season was similar to where we ended up last season under Lambert, but that’s the only comparison I’m getting! I remember before McLeish got sacked, we were being linked with players like Karl Henry… instead we ended up with Christian Benteke. Sure our style of play isn’t very attractive… but how many times did Manure play beautiful football under Ferguson. Again, it isn’t very attractive.. but it’s effective. I remember when Lambert came in, the talk was “slow and steady progress, that’ll do me”.. where has that gone? Well Lambert has kept his side of the bargain, there is a massive improvement, look at where we are in the table compared to this time last year.. we sit comfortably mid -table. Do ye forget that before Dortmund made any real progress, they actually got relegated.. People calling for Lambert’s head at this stage should be ashamed, for once we have had a season where we aren’t hovering above the bottom 3 and we don’t have to look over our shoulders after every game.. this is what we were crying out for in previous seasons when we scrapped with relegation.. Lambert is slowly delivering, give him time.. be patient. Miracles don’t happen overnight.
