West Ham – Villa; I can’t call it, too scared

I wanted to write this yesterday, but I’ve frankly been too scared to.
It’s daft really, as I’m not really the superstitious type, but I just don’t want to call it in case I “Jinx” things, call the result wrong and send us down.
Mind you, it’s probably a good thing. The amount of times I’ve predicted we’d win and Villa haven’t obliged, it’s probably best I don’t predict this one.

But we can look at what is required for our survival and it’s basically that we need to better Watford and Bournemouth’s results. If that happens, it’s happy days.
But we all know that isn’t going to happen and then it gets a bit more complicated;

Villa will be safe if they draw and Watford don’t win.

Villa will be safe if they win by the same or a better margin than Watford.

If all three teams lose by the same margin, Villa will be safe.

If Villa win, Watford need to better their result by two goals to avoid relegation.

The only way Bournemouth can survive is if they win and both Villa and Watford lose.

So, just to avoid all that confusion, we’ll just take the win and have done with it, eh?
It’s a nice thought.

It’s ridiculous really, isn’t it?
I’m too scared to call the result of a game.

On paper, it’s just a result, one of many that won’t really affect anything in any way.
But it’s not just that is it?
It’s something that will define a line between the sheer elation of surviving and the desperation and depression that comes with relegation. I know for a fact that I’ll be affected for days, either way and I’ll bet I’m amongst the majority of us Villa fans.

Still, it’s why we love the game isn’t it?
And why, as much as I’m scared to call or even watch the game, I’ll be absolutely glued to the screen.

hold on to your butts šŸ™‚ lets play ball. i dont want to come across all wrong but i am feeling quietly confident now. i just hope we can continue in the same way and not lose our heads. if we can play intelligently and keep our cool. we should be quite able to get a point. the other two clubs will have a much harder time. as they need to win and that means you have to open up and against arsenal you will get slaughtered. everton also have lots of pace to exploit teams opening up

half time and we still are premiership lol looks like watford are dead and being buried. but as i expected cherries will win at everton. so its down to us to get the point at hammers. we cant go gun ho but we can take our chances when they appear. grealish had our best in first half and very poor shot šŸ™ had he placed that inside the post with some pace it was a tough one for the goalie to react and reach it. but he scuffed the shot and was easy for goalie. we had a major let of with hammers had one glorious chance wasted by antonio

Pretty decent summary Nath. Also thought Bournemouth were the threat rather than Watford.

I think we need Everton to score and at least get the draw as I don’t see us keeping West ham out for this 45 mins.
