Andi Weimann has reportedly agreed to join Derby County for a fee of £2.75 million. Weimann began his career at Aston Villa and was one of the youth graduates. Weimann’s first few seasons were very impressive, he made his debut in the 2010-11 season and scored his first goal the following season in the 92nd minute to beat Fulham 1-0, that was an extremely crucial goal for our season. Since then he has went on to make roughly 112 appearances and score 17 goals, his best season being 2012-13 where he scored 12 goals.
His career took a downturn when he was played out wide on the right instead of up-front partnering Benteke. Since the arrival of Sherwood Weimann has made very few appearances and is clearly not rated by Sherwood.
Nonetheless, a move to Derby will be very good for Weimann. He is still young (23), and will most likely play upfront alongside former Villa forward Darren Bent. It’s fair to say that Derby have an excellent strike force for the Championship next season and I don’t think it will be long before we see Weimann playing Premier League football for Derby. I do believe that Weimann is a Championship level player at this stage of his career but he should do well at Derby.
£2.75 million is a decent amount, but definitely falls short of the £12 million valuation that Aston Villa set on the youngster during his break through season of 2012-13. Of course things have changed now. Some fans see this as good business since Villa did sign Sinclair for £2.5 million and will most likely play in a similar position to what Weimann once played in. All the best Weimann!
Bloody hell mate, Langford it must have taken all day to write , thanks to yourself and Giddy for that off to the sports club now to drink with mates. 76 trombones and a clarinet. 24 years time I get a letter from the Queen.
24 years…..plenty of time to win 7 more European Cups…..8 PL titles…..2 League/FA Cup doubles and at least 7 more League Cup wins!
Have a great day mate 🙂 x 76
OK mate I feel it in my water, this year League winners, FA cup, European cup, and Oohah to join our happy band of believers. Not asking for much would you say.☝
Sylla has officially been sold to Stade Rennais
Sky sports , Benteke will not sign a new contract and Aston Villa have not received any offers for the player.
Might as well wait to see if the club is sold. I would assume if the club is sold he might gain to earn more money. Nevertheless, like Fox and Sherwood has said he is a Villa player on a long contract so if they really want him to be here next season he will be.
Unless someone meets the buyout clause, then he’s gone. Nor is 2 years really that long, though having him for 2 more years would be wonderful.
If someone meets his buy-out clause sure, but as of right now no one has come in for him. Personally, I would be shocked if he was still here after the upcoming Euros, but I would also be equally shocked if the club sold him this summer without anyone matching that buy-out fee.
We won’t sell unless someone meets it. Can see someone offering players in exchange though. He’ll only go to a CL club so that’s basically Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal. Don’t think City need him with Dzeko and Bony, Arsenal seem to have other strikers in mind and Chelsea just signed Falcao. United want him but aren’t going to pay the buyout clause, might offer a player or two in exchange + big money.
If Zlatan leaves PSG…
I’m just worried that we cave him and sell him for less wouldn’t surprise knowing our shit management
Nothing new there we don’t need him to sign we can keep him anyway as no one is going to waste £32m on him
