I’ve been thinking about the match and thought that we did a good job in the first half, countering Spurs’ attacks and only letting in what was a fluke goal. We just looked toothless in the second, which is a shame after how well Andi and Gabby played last season.

Andi or Gabby could easily have taken any of their chances and drawn 2-2, it didn’t go our way and Spurs played well, if dirty. That for me is the main problem and hopefully something Benteke’s return will sort out, he’ll be helping them out and they him. We missed him and while some bemoan the fact he’s off we still have him for at least three quarters of a season and who knows what the next two transfer windows bring. I have a feeling we’re not going to get five or six players again.

Still, I think Benteke is going to reinvigorate Gabby and Andi.

Benteke will make a difference but the rest of the team bar Guzan are complete dross. Not one of the other players would get into a regular first team position with another prem team and some would be lucky to get in the bench

Lambert got to December to improve us or I’m calling for his head how many toothless and disorganised games are we gonna get how many players are out of form Westwood and weeman need dropping a good manager would have us organised from the start we seem to go into games hoping for the best no game plan we should be taken games to the teams not sitting back and letting have a million changes the clock is tickin

Must admit I expected better home performances in his second season but they are just the same and he has no clue how to change tactics or game plan to make it work. If we keep losing home games fans will get on his back even more as we should not be just going out to contain teams every time,we shoul be looking to attack ourselves

Just a thought, Wiemann and Gabby are both strikers, would we have been better off yesterday playing a 4-4-2 with the two of them up front, Sylla and Westywood in the middle, Delph and Bacuna on the sides and the same back four. Kozak didn’t do much and while that system works ok away with Benteke leading the line couldn’t we have better played the missing man back in midfield and presented Spurs with a formation they probably hadn’t prepared for? Gabby down the middle I think would have been much more of a handful than being pitted against Walker down the left.

Villa 1996 mate lose our next game to the toffees and then that is it there can be no more excuses like we will bounce back we can;t afford more of the same as last season have had four years of this. But still Lerner does not grasp it goes and employs yet another third rate manager whom is just as clueless as the last one.

With all due respect Lambert has just beaten Arsenal,Man city and Norwich.Everton are better than us at the moment and will come to VP to win.Your argument is unrealistic to the actual financial situation AVFC are in.We are still recovering from spending 152 million and winning nothing.Your a dreamboat pal with a toothless argument just like you call the team you are supposed to support.Your comments are disloyal to AVFC…..Support or do 1….UTV

I can accept we have played decent top teams at home so far but what I cannot accept is going out every game conceding possession and sitting back and ultimately conceding the first goal every time! Where is that going to get us? We shouldn’t be afraid to attack teams at home and this game plan doesn’t work as our home form is abysmal over last few years!

Yes, we have a run of so called ‘winnable’ games but the problem is to break down the likes of West Ham, Cardiff, etc you need a bit of creativity and we have none. I can see us struggling big time, we will be relying on the quality of Benteke to win us games again because nobody else is capable.

Or shift Wiemann over. He’s already wearing the number 10. He works well with Benteke. I’d prefer to see him as a central striker but think he has the imagination, movement, energy and ability to score goals. How he’d be defensively I haven’t a clue though.

4-4-1-1. Lowton back in at RB. Bacuna RM and Gabby LM. Weimann and Benteke up front (they always work well together). Sylla and Delph in the middle.

Although, i think the only change PL will make is Benteke for Kozak.

4-4-1-1 sounds a decent formation with Weimann behind Benteke. Could play Helenius behind Benteke, where he thinks he’s best at, with Gabby and Bacuna out wide. Weimann dropped as a sub. Not happening but could really work. Sylla has to start over Westwood though.

The whole thing is we had a certain style, flair, flash last season. Which was the exact opposite of what we got for McLeish, so you’d think, with the amount of new players bought, he’d try to continue that style, but he hasn’t. Which is why I do think we’ve suffered. Now I know our start was the hardest you’ll find and we played a lot of teams that like possession and are known for dominating it but you’d have to think that his complete turn around on how Villa play has really confused the players.

I know you want LAMBERK to do well, your positive comments of praising the players and giving them a chance as opposed to judging them before they’ve even kicked a ball would support that statement. 🙂

I’ve had times when I’ve thought what the fuck is he doing but then I look at the bigger picture and understand the bloke is human, he’s practically building the club from scratch and he’s inevitably going to make mistakes. I don’t fire ten barrels of shit at the players and constantly comment that they’re shit like certain people on here, you know the people who when we win don’t really make an appearance and when they do they comment on how lucky we were!!! I’ve always thought you need luck in any walk of life but some people clearly don’t. O to be able to walk in there shoes, life must be perfect. 🙂

    Andrew October 21, 2013 at 9:29 pm . Reply

He is human and he will make mistakes, but it’s the same mistakes over and over again. Sitting back in the first half, letting the other team score first, long ball it to the forward for the first half, they get criticized and their morale takes a hit as they have absolutely no help, go into the 2nd half, the fullbacks get killed as everyone’s moved forward, the center midfielders supply absolutely no help to the fullbacks, nor do the “wingers” Villa play. I mean it’s the simple things that have happened in every single game so far this season.

Then the huge mistake of changing style, and then changing it back after buying players from teams used to playing a passing, technical style of play. If we were going to play a counter attacking style, why not just buy from the EPL? Why go to Spain, Holland, even Poland or Denmark.

Shawcross isn’t a top ten defender still… Only reason Stoke are above the relegation spot is Begovic is so talented. Even a Stoke City fan made this claim and said Begovic will leave them and they’ll be screwed. Barry would’ve been great though.

Hull are on the same as utd. Means nothing after 8 games. Look at Southampton no way they will finish top 5. A
So utd are not the team they were. Take out Rvp and possibly WR and they are very ordinary.
