Villa – West Ham; We need 3 points, simple.

We can beat these, can’t we?
Can’t we?

I’m not so sure myself, but it seems many Villa fans are pretty confident, which is fair enough.
There has been much comment about how we need to win our next three games if we’re to have any chance of survival and although that seems a massive ask, we really do need to put some points on the board.

Looking at the form table, West ham haven’t won at all in their last six, but by the same token they’ve only lost one, having drawn five. Which of course means they’re hard to beat.
They don’t concede many either if you take their 4-1 drubbing at White Hart Lane out of the equation and that game apart, they’ve only conceded two goals against some stiff opposition.

Which is where I suspect we’re going to find things tough today.
If you assume we’re probably going to concede a goal, we’re going to have to score two to actually win the game.
I know I’m stating the obvious, but given our enduring lack of penetration in the final third, how likely is it that it’s going to happen against a good defensive side?
I don’t know is the simple answer, but the fact is we have to make it happen somehow.

If we don’t, I think even the most positive of us will have to start conceding that it’s all over; a position that many of us have already reached.
As for me, I think I’m still in a state of disbelief or even self-denial if you like.
But it’s beginning to dawn on me that if we don’t get the result today, we’ve simply had it.

Squad news then and West Ham have Diafra Sakho, Victor Moses, Winston Reid and Dimitri Payet all out.
Andy Carroll might make it, but is doubtful and it’s too soon for Manuel Lanzini, who have both had thigh problems.

The Villa are in pretty good shape, but have Micah Richards out again for his fourth consecutive game.
Joe Bennett and Aly Cissokho have been recalled, but can’t play until January.

So where’s this one going to go?
Garde was criticised last week for not going for it against Newcastle, but I can understand his thinking.
This week however, if we’re in a similar position, we really are going to have to attempt to win the game.
We have to get the three points, no ifs, no buts.

Looking at West Ham’s form, I’d suggest this has 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it.
But that isn’t going to be good enough and that same form suggests there will be a change, meaning one of the teams is going to get the three points.

Let’s hope it’s us.

This has been coming for years, and we all know it.
Unlike some I do not blame Garde, yes he has made some dodgy selections, but this season was done for before he arrived.

I will not go to another game, spend another penny while learner is still about.
He has destroyed our once great club.

I said the same thing 4 years ago and haven’t been down VP since. I will get another season ticket as soon as Lerner sells. He has single handily ruined us with his poor decision making just like he did the Cleveland Browns.

#RelegateRandy is now trending on twitter, fans have had enough and like the above comment says no point in turning on the manager anymore. Garde will only be replaced by another circle of failure and then league one looms. A full agreed boycott of a game should be the starting point. No fan should attend and it should be a live game on TV

It was obvious we were down weeks ago. I’d love to actually hear Deadly’s take on things. I bet in private he’s scathing.
We should hand out colour A4 pictures of Lerner’s face for everyone to rip up for the cameras at all the remaining home games until the **** leaves.

    History Repeats Itself

I remember a few years ago when Mr Lerner bought Villa, Cleveland Brown fans told us to be careful for what we wished for. I have dug out this – does it sound familiar?

    http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/09/fed-up_cleveland_browns_fan_st.html

A Cleveland Brown fan started a petition for Mr Lerner to sell the club.

“The once proud franchise in Cleveland has not been competitive under the ownership of Randolph (Randy) D. Lerner and is killing the strong fan support for the Browns,” he wrote.
“Petition: We, the undersigned Cleveland Browns fans, ask Randy Lerner to do what is in the best interest of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland fans, and the city of Cleveland, and sell the Cleveland Browns. The product on the field is unacceptable.”

Ultimately the Cleveland Browns were able to have their divorce from Mr Lerner.

Come on Mr Lerner, you may have the best intentions for Villa at heart, but you have a record of being incompetent in running sports clubs, it’s just not your strength. Sell up, write off your losses and allow our club the chance to be run by professional football people!

You tried, you failed, it is now time to step aside.

Is noe the time to start a petition that reach out to all the other Villa websites and we sign up on mass for Mr Lerner to sell asap.

And so it starts – at last. Villa fans finally united in turning against Lerner; we got rid of the board in the 60’s why not again now?
