Villa – QPR; I just don’t see this game happening, but here goes

I drove home from Derby, down the A38 at around 5.30 and the road was fine.
There’s been on and off snow for the last three days, yet the road was fine to drive down and I was doing the speed limit.

Last night and tonight, as soon as I hit Bassett’s pole island, so it all goes awry and it’s taken me nearly an hour to do the last 3 miles.
I really wonder what Birmingham Council puts in their grit, but I doubt it’s anything that actually melts the snow.
I also wonder if they’ve gritted at all, to be honest and no doubt they’ll have some excuse.

Whatever, the roads in Birmingham are simply horrendous, even while the snow is still falling.

The club have said the game will happen, but I doubt they’ve allowed for what’s happened and they won’t be able to guarantee the fan’s safety as they make their way to the ground.
Hence I reckon it’s going to be called off.

If I’m right, it’ll be a shame, as this should be a reasonably easy 3 points.
Well ok, not easy; as I don’t think any championship game is easy, but surely about as easy as it gets, on paper?

I’ve just (stupidly) walked the dog and I’m frozen stiff and want to get to bed, hence I’m cutting to the quick.

If it happens, it’s got to be a win.
2-1 to us.

tomorrows game isn’t a forgone conclusion. sunderland might look like a shite outfit. but i seen enough from them to know they are a good game for anybody. if i was to say their problem, you all will say thats obvious. its true of most struggling teams at the wrong end of leagues. but they are pretty decent up putting the ball into the net. that has been a problem all season losing grabbans only made this worse. but first goal is important against them. their heads drop badly when they fall behind and their crowd get onto their backs.

we are gonna find that all teams in this division are a handful. sheff wed got battered against bristrol city. wednesday played us off the park for a good 2 games this season. hopefully we have grealish back for the next game which is always the most important. never the next and beyond

Sunderland have 5 points from the last 9 championship games. That’s not a tough game. That should be a straightforward 3 points. No excuses.

i thought you knew about football. them sort of games especially this time of season. sink your line on coupon. top verses bottom in a league where nothing much separates them in skill.

sunderland have struggled big time this season. but they are dangerous. they are playing far better than results suggest, playing villa and winning, will be a good result for them and likely to kick-start they survival. they were unlucky against millwall. they also have lots of injuries.

    Millwall manager Neil Harris said:

“I thought we did enough to win, but that’s a good reality check for everyone associated with this football club. It showed that if we’re not at our best, we can come unstuck against anybody.

“I thought we came really strong in the second half and if there was anyone who was going to win it, it was us, although maybe our composure in the box wasn’t quite as good as it could have been.

“No one within the training ground was getting above themselves, it’s just about how far we’ve come from the play-off final last year to thinking about a play-off campaign this year.”

that was millwall who had won their last three games, form or league position means nothing. they are fighting for their lives

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish has won his fitness race to be involved in tonight’s clash at Sunderland.

Grealish has missed the last three matches with the calf injury he picked up in the derby victory over Birmingham City.

But he has been passed fit and has travelled with Steve Bruce’s squad for the game at the Stadium of Light.

Bruce faces a dilemma whether or not to start Grealish, but the Villa boss has spoken previously about the risks of rushing back his players, so could ease him in from the substitutes bench.

Grealish has been pivotal in Villa’s march up the table since returning from a long lay off just before Christmas following kidney surgery.

His absence was felt during the defeat at Fulham and draw with Preston North End last month, although Villa did win 4-2 at Sheffield Wednesday without him and top scorer Albert Adomah.

grealish is so vital to us. its a understatementto say i am relieved hes back. if he has recovered. then i would start him tonight. why wait for it to go wrong before introducing him. he can always be replaced once he has ripped them apart with his direct thinking. he will need a a game or two to reach the peak of before the injury.

      tis great news thou

no grealish in the starting lineup.

same team as predicted grabban will be either upfront with hogan or floating just behind him. adomah made it in and whelan keeps his place to receive the abuse if we mess up. talyor in for hutton.

still to play a game or even play a minute of game. two levels lower than us. goes to show how strong the youth leagues are. when a player regarded very highly is struggling to get professional game time. could this be the reason highly thought of ohare remains at the club. not because he was even pencilled to play of us. but bruce didnt want him to rot on the bench of another div2 side, like suliman. mckirdy isnt not doing much better. but at least he is getting on as late sub and scored once
