Villa – Man City FA Cup: Pressure off for this one?

I’ve just read a story that suggests that City will be bringing five of their kids as part of their squad for this game.
I’m not suggesting they’ll start, but it might be an indicator that Pelligrini might not be looking to go all out for this game. Not that it matters much really, I suppose, as you’d expect a weakened Man city side to beat most teams on average.
But the same story also mentions that the likes of Aguero need resting.
Again, it doesn’t really matter much, but City haven’t travelled very well lately and that might at least give us some glimmer of hope.

City have Kevin de Bruyne, Samir Nasri, Vincent Kompany, Aleks Kolarov, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony all out, which is the best part of a very good side and again shows the gulf between teams at the top and er, us.

As for us, it’s no change, with Hutton and Sanchez out.
There’s a hint Gabby might get a game, but I don’t see it, as Remi Garde has made his position clear about his views on the player.

We’re in good form by our standards, but it’s interesting to note that we’ve won more cup games than league games this season and that’s another shocking statistic this far into the season, but never mind.

As for my thoughts, well I’d say it’s all going to be about goals isn’t it?
And more the thought that we don’t score many.
I think we might get one, but City are capable of getting plenty.
I’m going to guess we’ll hold our own for a long period, but ultimately lose 1-2.

But the thought of a win is enticing and although it’d be too late to kickstart the season league-wise, the thoughts of a cup run appeal and I’d now take doing a Wigan, in winning the cup and getting relegated.

There’s nowt wrong with dreaming is there?

Depends what team city put out whether they beat us comfortabley or very comfortabley! I have to say I can’t see us getting anything not even a shot on target!!

As the great Bill Shankley said – ‘we’ll be lucky to get none’ OK I paraphrased it a little but the sentiment’s the same! Expect us to park the bus as under the new business plan we need a replay to increase revenue streams.

If we get the rub of the green like we did last time we played them, we’re in with a chance. If they get the rub, we’ll get slaughtered.

I think we will back to pitiful capitulation. I don’t see us offering any kind of threat, and will indulge in damage limitation, despite it being a one-off cup game. Even without De Bruyne City will have way too much for us, and will probably want to get some measure of revenge for us taking a point in the last match against them.

0-3 for me, but it could be even worse.

West Ham Tuesday night is far more Important than this game. Play the kids and tell them to enjoy the experience.

Agree play a few first teamers and about 6-7 reserves. It’s a pointless game and a shit trophy anyway. Especially as it’s sponsored by a country with appalling human rights records.

With the Muppet in goal – was it worth putting out most of the best outfield players rather than all the stiffs? It looks like muddled thinking to me. However I think our only chance against Citeh required Sachez to play, and with him injured it looks like a blank day for us.

Prem should be our main priority, with no new signings yet what does that say to fans. Would like to see us go on a cup run, it is not going to happen 3-0 city

I guess so but when you consider they have left out Hart, Aguero and Silva, plus Kompany and De Bruyne injured amongst others, we could have had a bit of a go. Our only chance is if City get complacent. Oh 0-2. Forget that

I think everyone at the club, including the fans have just given up. We may as well have just forfeited today’s game.

As for the January transfer window, what complete incompetence from the club. It just makes my blood boil.
