It’s all about the goals isn’t it?
Man city come to Villa park today having scored 26 of them, whereas we’ve averaged a measly 0.6 per home game this season, a figure that’s to be honest, rubbish.
Hence you would think that’s going to be the theme of today’s game; how many can they score? and how many can we prevent?
Fortunately, football isn’t always that easy to predict, so while you never know, we might get something out of the game. But it’s looking doubtful isn’t it?
Man city have a few injuries.
Sergio Aguero is out, as are David Silva, Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta.
That’d be a major loss for most clubs, but they have plenty in reserve.
Gael Clichy and hissing Delph are back in contention and it’ll be interesting to see if the latter manages to rub the splinters from his backside. No doubt he might get a run-out if we’re getting caned, but I don’t really want to talk about him.
As for Villa, I believe there’s a chance Westwood might not have got over the knock he got on the head the other night, but the interesting one is Gabby. There doesn’t seem to have been any news about him; not that I’m looking for any.
Otherwise, I think we’re all good.
So the question we’re all asking is who is Remi Garde going to play? and how is he going to play them?
Ayew and on reflection, Sinclair and Sanchez looked decent on Monday, so I’d expect them to start.
As for the rest, well your guess is as good as mine.
Likewise how we’re going to set up.
Garde likes a 4-4-2, so perhaps we’ll see Gestede with Ayew up top? I don’t know.
The bigger problem for the manager is the defence, but he hasn’t had much time to work with the team, so I’m not expecting much to have changed in that area.
Richards will probably get straight back in after his suspension, but who will he play with? I don’t think many of us would choose Lescott, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
While I know many of us would like to see massive changes throughout the team, I’m not convinced we’re going to get them, if only for the reason that Garde won’t want to change it up too much.
Not that that would be a very valid reason. The team’s been messed about with all season, so I doubt it would make much difference.
Whatever, I just hope Garde chooses those who’ve looked best in training, which is about all we can ask.
Looking at the form, Man city are going really well and they were apparently very good against Sevilla mid-week.
And we all know where we are, so I won’t harp on it.
My head says something like a 4-1 loss, which is what I’m going for, but my heart says we can do better than that and at least hold the score down for something like a 1-2.
I thought it was going to be Veretout too.
Would’ve thought Grealish would come on for Sinclair, allowing N’Zogbia to play out on the right and cut in. Although I prefer him on the left crossing.
Delph coming on.
The SNAKE is on the grass hissssssssssssss
Gestede for Ayew.
Pissy players complaining that Hart can’t control that. Then move… Take a goal kick.
come on Villa hold them!!!!
COYL
Bar!!
Bloody hell, my arsehole’s going.
Great result for Villa after that late run from City.
A well earnt point bring on the toffees.UTV
THank god for that
Told u we’d get something badger city nowhere near as good without augero and silva. Great solid start an unexpected point won and clean sheet. Build from the back don’t concede and we will start nicking games just hanging in there. I said we will do bette with a foreign manager this guy is the real deal
Well organised team performance and a great result! Remi will get us out of this yet, we didn’t hav many chances but we’re against the top team in the league, play like that against the teams around us and who knows we might finally see a win!
That was a well drilled performance. Amazing the difference decent coaching and tactics can make. That was not your normal new manager syndrome of blood and thunder football. I really believe that Garde is going to be the man. Midfield was unrecognisable from sherwoods team in terms of tactical awareness. Not one of those guys let the shirt down today. Well well done.
YESSSSSS!!!!
Never knew a draw could be so sweet.
We rode our luck a bit but for a change we actually had some. There was a shape and a belief about the team that I haven’t seen for ages. Plus at times they really played some very nice football.
Bring on whoever. If we can play like that we have nothing to fear

Great result looks like a team that is organized and hopefully we start moving up the table .
Take note, that’s how to contain the opposition and subs was bang on. Lads we have a manager at last. Andrew Gil, ok not the fastest on the pitch but god has he got vision would you say, also the lad has trickery in them feet, me mom,
Very good player, but he’s not an outlet that we can use because he doesn’t have the pace or strength. I’d not drop him, not at all, but we need an out and out winger, like Traore, to be the outlet who can run at pace and has the strength to hold off players. Largely like Sterling did today.
Very quick feet
Season starts now.
Do agree on fitness it showed in veretout in cramp, but we do have the making of a good side.time will tell.
True Bill, but you only get properly fit from playing competitive matches!
Just keep playing him his fitness will improve
Jermaine Jenas said on MOTD (yes after long last I could actually watch it) that it was the biggest transformation in a team from one manager to another that he’d ever seen.
Had to agree. Rode our luck but we played like a team and played with some passion. I couldn’t fault anyone who played for us today, not even Guzan. I knew that big baldy head was there for a good reason.
I find myself looking forward to the next match as it’s now official…
…the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched on again
