Villa – Leicester Preview

Here we go again then, another match against the team that’s bottom of the league.
It’s one that really ought to be a shoe-in, but these days I have such little confidence in the Villa being able to beat anybody, hence I’m not counting any chickens.

That said, if we can’t beat Leicester, you have to wonder who we can beat.
So with much trepidation I’m actually going to predict a win.

Leicester have their best defender and captain suspended for this game, so I’d take us to score at least one goal, probably with Benteke scoring.

Line ups

Aston Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Clark, Cissokho, Sanchez, Westwood, Cleverley, N’Zogbia, Agbonlahor, Benteke
Subs: Given, Lowton, Herd, Richardson, Bacuna, Grealish, Robinson

Leicester: Simpson, Wasilewski, Moore, Konchesky; Mahrez, Cambiasso, James, Schlupp; Vardy, Ulloa
Subs: Drinkwater, King, Albrighton, Hamer, Powell, Nugent, Wood

So only the one change then, with N’Zogbia in for the suspended Weimann.

I’ll go for 2-1

Up the Villa!

A win’s a win! Didn’t play too badly but worried about our injury hoodoo with Westward looking good before being injured. Clarke / Okore really played well together and I wouldn’t rush to bring Vlaar back in. For me, MOM was Sanchez – we have bought one hell of player.

Hi Bill, how’s things. Still thought Sanchez was MOM but was really pleased for Hutton – if anyone deserved to score the winner, he did.

Hi Hitchens, its strange how people see the game differant to others, me I thought Abonglahor was lazy again, these are who put a shift in, Clarke, Okore, Hutton, Westwood, untill he had to go Benteke, Sanchez, the rest need to up their game, up still now We have them same points as this time last season, We are lucky that teams are worse off than us, their goal was defected off Clarke so cannot blame Cuzan on that one. Glad your home hope your trip was fruitful Hitchens and happy we got 3 points.

Ok so we won a bottom of the table clash v the worst team in the prem. Negatives, still struggled to win and defending against ten men and sitting back in the last 15 mins or so was an embarrassment imo. Benteke should of scored at least one goal and the amount of times he was offside was pathetic he’s just as bad now at that as he was when he joined us. Why is no one working with him on that in training ffs? Positives, Hutton was in a league of his own today and was the difference, Clarke and Okore should now be the default back 4 both played well again today and Okore is getting better with every game plus Cissoko had a decent game as well. It was gabbys best all round game since Arsenal over a year ago imo but he has to play like that every week. Grealish looked good in flashes and gains valuable match experience today. Good to see Bacuna on at long last. All in all a good performance but we have to keep it up. Depressing to see so many empty seats at ground too.

Thanks Bill, great time but need to give the liver a holiday now! OohAh, can’t really argue with much of what you say. Agree about the empty seats but who can blame fans for staying away?

Agree Hitchens can’t blame the fans what gets me though is those stay away fans will be bk for United game just to see them not us. Look at sunderland no better than us but still get 40,000 plus no matter who they play. Maybe DOL was right after all we are fickle lol

Gotta agree with Oohah on the match but weren’t you one of the ones on here claiming fans should stop going to protest against Lerner and Lambert?

Haha I know that, but there’s clearly a lot of fans that agree with what you were saying. While I realize it was “only Leicester”, the fans will start coming back if performances and “attacking” football like that comes back to Villa. Much like Lambert’s first season kind of style.

True Andrew that’s the important think that we play good attacking football. Though I think damage is done a lot of fans won’t come back unless Lamberks gone.

Fickle is such a fascinating word. People like to pay for entertainment. Game against Leicester was entertaining, so obviously fans will be back IF Villa continue. Plus it is United, it is still a winnable game being honest at how poor they are. Although De Gea has been in incredible form, much like Schmeichel was today.

We always lose at home to utd Andrew even when times were good. We havnt beaten them at vp since 1995 ffs. We have a real inferiority complex when we play them. A shit utd team will still win. But yes cried will be around 40k plus just because it’s utd which is sad
