Villa – Ipswich; If we can’t win this, we’re in trouble

We’re 10 (or is it 11?) days into our Mexican fortnight.
The weather’s superb with nightime lows of about 70, although my stomach’s still a bit twitchy. If I had loads of money, I’d be living somewhere like here six months a year.
Sorry lads, I just thought I’d rub it in a bit.
Of course, you can laugh at me too, because I have to come back home soon and I hear it’s freezing. I’m not looking forward to that.

Whatever, as per, I’m thinking about the Villa.
And what the hell is going to happen if we lose this one?

We can’t do. Can we?
As much as I want to say no, I’m really not sure anymore.
look at the form table and we’re well down there, if not bottom.
We don’t score goals and concede far to many too.
I haven’t even felt the slightest inkling to display the Villa shirt that’s hidden in the wardrobe, which is a first.
And to cap it all, if we don’t turn it around, we look like relegation candidates. Fact.

It’s bleak, isn’t it?

I think it was finally having to concede that we aren’t going up this season, which has put me on such a downer.

Still, all that means we can only be looking upwards from here, doesn’t it?

Sadly, I’m really not convinced.

I know it’s negative, but if we lose this one, I think we’re in serious trouble.
Bruce, as much as I think he is the right manager for where we are now, has to get a result today.

Ipswich are garbage and struggle to score as much as we do.

Yet we have, on paper, possibly the strongest line-up in the league.

You probably wouldn’t think it, but I’ve spent hours mulling over what to write here.

The original intention was to look at formations and all that rubbish.
But do you know what?
I’m becoming very close to not caring.
You can analyse things to death and invariably be wrong.

If Bruce goes negative against this class of team, at home, regardless of how it’s disguised in a 3-5-2 (read 5-3-2), I’ll have to start seriously calling him.

Villa to win 2-1, with us seriously trying to win the game easily.
None of this being careful against inferior opposition rubbish.
Go and grab them by the nads from the off.

Anything less than a win just isn’t good enough and messing about with formations/experimenting is not an adequate reply.

And while I’m on one, if Johnstone messes up again, send him back.
No ifs, no buts.
If he gets the start, that is.

was lambert all bad,,,,,, berk you say. goes around comes around.

21 goal attempts thats more than most teams that managed 3 goals in championship. hardly defensive lmao i best watch chelsea make sure its the same system we play.

we have not finished the decent, play offs never. fans would do good 2 support the players as this team might slide further down. scoring goals is a massive problem. players wearing our shirts are not playing stress free games, they are burdened by the pressures. squeaky ass times.

i might watch the berks team ltr beat newcastle

Goal attempts means nothing when theyre all off target! A shot from the half way line is a goal attempt doesnt mean we are attacking. We play 5 at the back that can never be attacking.

goal attempts mean that the team must have been attacking not defending as most ppl on here have been posting. some on here twist stats so work that out.

get over 5 at back fooking hell. change the record. lets say 3 5 2 three players were defenders. not the five. taylor and hutton you will find played as the width in your system not out and out defenders. chelsea play this same boring defensive system boring boring champions

Hutton is a defender and should not be played at a wing back not good enough for that position. All theses poxy formations what is wrong with 4-4-2 simple.

Goal attempts dont mean attacking. Didnt you understand what i said? An attempt can be from anywhere. Us having more attemps could mean we are being desperate not attacking! Guess you struggle to grasp this and believe Bruce is the messiah!!

don’t be stupid your not understanding. goal attempts are not registered in your own half. you must believe in fairies hush hush don’t worry yourself i believe you. point i make is and your struggling to grasp is stats are bulshit the game is lost move on blaming systems is like arguing over we had more shots lmao ding ding round 3

Nath….If we had Kyle Walker and Danny Rose 5 at the back would be fine, home or away. But we dont. Hutton is poor going forward and every Swansea fan, to a man will tell you that Taylor is good defensively and poor going forward. Its horses for courses mate! The manager should see that!

so by the last sentence you say the managers fault for not seeing your views. so hes another manager thats deemed not good enough. soon we will be posting sack the manager because we cant score or win a corner lmao very tedious views. cant we accept we was not good enough and must do better no sack another manager and sell these missfits and by some better wingbacks full backs what ever you want to call um today

its not the system trust me why does this system work with other teams. ????? answer when ever you can. i will wait as longs as you need. look iam not happy to lose at home to ipswich. but if we cant score thats gonna happen. green and adomah came on and could play that position. but from what i heard of game we were mostly all over them and couldnt score, we had enough players good players , two decent 2 strikers and still firing blanks.

complaining about systems is a excuse and i am not buying that. we lost and ipswich defended and hit us with a sucker punch. need to get over that and move on as the berk used to say

Yes it is the system. And the manager too. We all know we have the players, weve spent a bloody fortune on them!

Haha did i mention the weather or the grass you muppet. You have no argument Nath! We lost again because of poor managment and poor tactics. Now go finish licking Bruces arse.

lets not get all name calling and get me banned. just cause your a muppet and dont understand the game enough to understand systems don’t win games players do. stats only work when they benefit your argument. nobody who does them stats, will register goal clearances as shots. so them shots registered must have been attempts to score thats not what i would expected from a defending or defensive team. you need to rethink that excuse. i don’t need to finish licking his arse and still up there

Nath….you have to choose the system that your current players are best at….not the other way aroumd! We dont have good attacking wing backs so should be playing that system! 5-3-2 will never work with this squad whereas 4-1-3-2 or 4-3-1- 2 will IMO.

BTW….we never lost at home with Westwood…..just saying 🙂

great idea you should have a word in bruces ear hes the manager not me. but 44 2 / 1 1 8/ what ever the formation. we have no wingers to play 44 2 oh so lets play amavi there and lets see we have decent center =mids but nevermind they can warm the bench. we have the players to suit 3 5 2 or why would the qualified manager and his coaches choose to play the system.

i couldn’t give a shit what formations they deploy a defeat is a defeat. players play the systems and players put the ball into the nets not formations,

p/s i have swansea mate and his opinion on taylor is hes shit defender and better going forwards his words and he liken him to amavi only worse slightly

If we have to rely on Hutton and Taylor for attacking width then we’re fucked.

352 works when you have 2 wing backs who can attack AND defend, both hard grafters. Ours cant. In fact, wingers end up being better wing backs as defending is often covered by the spare centre backs…..except none of our 3 centre backs have the positional nouse to cover like that!!!

That’s why it works for other teams, they have the players.

Ok nath i dont want to get name calling.but you just said tactics dont win matches. So did leicester have the best players last year? No. They played to their strenghts using tactics and good management. I understand that once the game starts its up to the 11 players on the pitch but if your playing 5 defenders! In any game whoever you play thats bad management to me.

      nath February 11, 2017 at 7:38 pm . Reply

you pick bad examples. i could say look at leicester this season. is the manager bad now… because they are near the bottom and not the top like last year. are they not playing to their strengths now, is this the manager doin???? must be the tinkerman faults.

many teams play this system reguardless of the 5 defenders present. they being full backs wing backs were not playing out and put defenders. they were free to attack and make the width. and also cover when needed. so this time it failed you can watch loads of teams play this system and pull it off. its players not systems that win games. thats my opinion. yes tactics play a part as does many things do. but they need to work on any systems they adopt. also you need to consider new players bedding into new surroundings. weight of wearing our colors. bad form of late.

i would also say we have more players to suit this current system than 442. bree and talyor were probably bought to play this system in mind
