Villa – Everyone’s Talking

Thanks Darren for submitting the following. Some good points;

Villa – Everyone’s Talking.

There has been some interesting news, re-signings, players in talk with the club, injury returns and players getting loan deals and plenty of talk about Villa’s more than unexpected start to the season.

Vlaar & Delph Contracts

It has come to my attention that the Vlaar camp has just recently informed Villa that they are ready to start talking new contracts! More great news! Our Concrete Ron looks to be happy with Villa and looks to be interested in penning a new deal. Lets hope this comes to fruition as he is our best and most solid defender.
Delph has also reportedly said in the past he is keen to sign a new deal at Villa and I for one would also welcome his, (even more so now) experience and quality to remain in our midfield.
Lambert has made it well known of his intention to keep both players and If Villa can pull both these deals through over the next month or so there will be a lot of relieved fans out there.

Note: Jack Grealish is just as, if not more important in my mind than these two, however there is an article currently solely devoted to young prospect Grealish.

Injury Returns

Christian Benteke! Can’t wait to see Benteke back on the pitch, but lets all remember with an injury like his (torn achilles) it may take a while to see him back at his best. Of course we are all hoping this happens real soon as our attack is in dire need of him. However, we should all be patient as he relies a lot of power and speed, which may be restricted until he regains full confidence from such an injury.

This is also my opinion of why Jores Okore has not returned to be the prospect we were all hoping for. Luckily this season Senderos has come better than any of us expected and will hopefully give Okore the time he needs to become the top flight Champions League, International player he had become before arriving.

Lets Talk Chris Herd

Random name to mention, out of sight out of mind?
Has not featured this season, except on the bench against Leyton Orient. However now Herd has secured himself a loan deal at Bolton and the Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman believes Herd will be back in the Villa fold and become the player he was once touted to be by Gerard Houlier. As an Australian myself I hope this happens, as Herd for the first time in his injury prone player has had some serious personal issues. The following article is a good read, and interestingly the Bolton manager raises a good point, re. Past players to go there on loans and return to the premier league all the better. Ie. Alan Hutton.

Michael Drennan – Back on loan at Portsmouth. A one month loan deal.

Just a little more on our start to the season

We have began the season like no one expected, imagine the odds on Villa to take 10 points from the first 5 games? But are we really making progress?
Yes. Our defence is as solid as I can remember (bar 5 minutes of hell against Arsenal) and with Vlaar returning to the fold it will only be better again.
Our midfield has improved, slightly. We are all hoping Grealish can fix our problems with breaking teams down and I believe he will, but not this season, we will see some exciting things from him this year but he is not yet ready to start and play every game.
Can Christian Benteke come back and be the player he once was to fix our fruitless attack? Unfortunately, up front for now, this is the man we are still relying on, so we have began to make some in roads in the back half however the attacking third is the same as its been for a while now.
We can say however, with more experience in the team, we should hopefully be able to cope and bounce back from defeats such as the Arsenal game a little easier.

Thanks VTID. I have now doubled my followers!

I’m liking the positivity and I’m saying our best bet tomorrow is to sit back and defend as a team much like we did v plop. I would say our best chance on goal would be to stick launch wieman and agbonlar at terry. They should murder him for pace!

Chelsea must think Courtois is better than Cech or he wouldn’t have the jersey, but I am not sure he will be better against Villa. Courtois does not strike me as a brilliant smotherer of a forward running at him 1 on 1. Cech is, or was.

Tony Daley (he of the pineapple haircut) once raced clear 3 times to score an unanswered hat trick on this ground. Note to Gabby just believe your the fastest thing they have seen round the Bridge and do likewise.

He isn’t of course, the accolade goes to Mick the Miller or Split Waterman, a greyhound and a Speedway rider. True – it once was a multi-purpose stadium.

Good to hear some positive feedback on the article, thanks.

Hope it gave some insight and new information on some of the less reported current happenings with our players.
