Villa – Bristol City; Should be 3 points shouldn’t it?

It’s only a brief one, because I’m busy at work again and have hardly even had time to think about the game.
But as is my want, so I’ve moved on from the pessimism I had before the Derby game and actually feel we should win this one.
I don’t know why really, as Bristol City fared better than us up at Newcastle, but it just goes to show how one measly win, however scrappy, can turn things for the fans.

I wouldn’t expect Steve Bruce to make many, if any changes at all for this match, as my opinion says it’s always best not to change a winning formula. Plus changing things up would surely leave the manager open to more criticism.

Bacuna won’t play of course, after his stupid reaction on Saturday and I’d guess we’ll see Hourihane come straight back in.
This is all injuries permitting, as I don’t even know what the situation is there.

So very much a wild guess it is then and I’m going to go for a 2-1 victory.

And I have to be honest, I really wouldn’t fancy it tonight.
It’s bitterly cold and absolutely pouring down as I write. I’m literally soaked after running 30 metres from the car to the house.

  1. Glad to see Gardner get a run along side Lansbury, they made a good partnership for forest, come on 3 points onwards and upwards

  2. iam also happy to welcome back gardner. he has the ability i think…… now needs to show this in the villa colors. like jimbo says he already has a understanding with lansbury. hopefully they will bring out the best of each other like at forest. its what this sides lacks partnerships around the pitch

  3. 15 mins to get the live commentary and i’ve missed the first 10 mins.
What an absolute load of junk!

    Bristol City hit the bar.

  4. Why isn’t the GK sent off for that – last man and denied a goal scoring opportunity?

    Oh and poor pen.

    1. Good question.
THe comms were asking what the ref was going to do.
Haven’t seen it, so can’t comment.

      1. Replay on Sky Sports Night (yep I’m one of those sad people withSky Sports!) and GK was last man through poor back pass and just dived at Gardners feet bringing him down, if that had been a defender it would have been a red card. Perplexed.

Bad penalty miss that though – hit the top of bar having sent the GK the wrong way.

  5. Bristol send one in and Johstone drops it.
Chester is there to get it.
Comms saying you can bet they’ll lob them in, dodgy goalie.

  6. Kodjia gets a bang in the back and is being treated.
Bristol fans giving him serious verbals.
let’s hope he doesn’t bottle it.

    1. Cottee saying he was at VP Saturday and thought the fans nervousness was being transmitted to the players – might have a point.

  7. been watching brighton newcastle. 1/0 ht we are not miles behind these teams. we have the players we just need to mold the team. they are better in countering and movement in possession. if you have movement the player on the ball has more options. these two have this but brighton look just a shade better

any links for the villa game ifeel like a traitor / thanks for the villa updates badger

    1. Nath also watching the Brighton game. Brighton happy o sit in and counter attack. Watched Leicester last night and they reminded me of Villa – 9 men behind the ball no possession and hoofing it upfield for Vardy to chase – difference being they converted three chances

      1. totally agree hitch
we used to be a good countering team. but fans got bored wanted more expansive game tactics. which is much harder and still producing winning sides. brighton are capable side, but they are waiting to catch newcastle now on the break and they will. they did the same thing to reading last game
