Villa – Bolton: A shoe-in? It should be.

You’ll have to forgive me, but I’m laughing to myself as I type the headline.
Over the last few years, we just haven’t done shoe-ins, have we?

To be honest, I don’t even know what a “shoe-in” is.
I assume it’s an American saying, so I’ll replace it with “Cert” and try to stick to it in future.

So this should be a cert, simple as.
I don’t need to look at any stats to know that Bolton have scored few, conceded many and are bottom of the table, looking like they don’t belong in this league.

And that’s a shame in some ways, as they were rolling as high as it gets for them not so long back.
Until they decided to let Sam Allaryce go.
That was just one of those crazy decisions that you knew would ruin the club, yet the owners knew better.

Anyway, I can’t see us changing much, although Gabby is apparently ready to make a recall.
That’s good of him, but if he sees the light of day, well, you have to wonder what’s going on.
But I’ve said that before and roll on his contract finishing, where he’ll no doubt get a fat contract in China and then become an ambassador or something.
The mind boggles, but there you go.

There isn’t much to say, apart from the fact that I expect us to go for the throat from the off.
We’ve beaten some other minnows and I expect us to take Bolton apart, with at least a two goal advantage.

I’m there again, with my “we’ll walk this” attitude, when I really ought to know better.
But the fact is, if we don’t win this by two (and I’m expecting better), I’ll be disappointed.

I suspect they’ll get one.

So I’m going to go for 4-1.

Anything less than a balls-out performance won’t be acceptable and Bruce knows it.
I’m looking forward to it, if I can actually get to watch it.

An easy win it will be. Still after this is when you can really judge Bruce. Fulham, Birmingham, Preston and Wolves. Those 4 games if we’re not taking at least 7 points, that will be a problem.

I don’t quite get signing Johnstone up permanently in January. I mean I get the point in that if we don’t go up, he’ll not want to sign with us permanently in the summer, which isn’t the biggest loss we’ll have if that’s the case. But surely we should be looking to spend whatever little money we have on another left back/center back and defensive midfielder, no? Might just be me but signing Johnstone permanently should be the last thing we’re worried about.

Wasn’t the easy win you thought it would be. Now we’ve lost Taylor and no one half decent to replace him. Wolves will beat us, blues away will be a tight draw Fulham a draw not sure about Preston maybe a draw too. We will be lucky to finish top 6 this season trust me

If Kodjia knew how to square a ball for once, it would’ve been. Bolton were garbage. All they tried to do was bully our players, they didn’t exactly pose much of a threat.

I’m well aware of where I think we’ll finish and I don’t have to trust you on that seeing I’ve been claiming that exact same thing this entire season.

Should be a routine win today. The following 4 games, as Andrew says above, will tell us where we are.

I’ll be ell chuffed if Whelan manages to stay on the pitch until half time.

He’s a liability with his fouling.

Kodjia scores from a pen, 1-0.
Shocking greed just beforehand though, when he should have passed to Adomah, who had an open goal.

Agree he would of been slaughtered by us and players in dressing room if he hadn’t off been lucky and won pen a minute later. If he hadn’t of done that we would only have got draw today shows how close game was.

3 positives to take from today’s game.

1, we won, bollocks to the performance and what not, the fact is we won.

2, 3 weeks ago some on here were crying that we were 10 points off top spot. My reply was we have 39 games to go. Now with 35 games to go we are 5 points off top spot and only 1 point off the playoffs!!

3, The losing mentality is truly being washed away.

    IN BRUCE I TRUST.

35 games to go and we’re 1 point off the play-offs, not much different in cheering for that as being 10 points off 4 games ago at 39 games left, is it? Seeing as we know being Villa fans, can drop those 10 points incredibly easily. Like just last season after that little run Grealish and Kodjia gave us.

Sometimes we forget not every game in this league is easy. Bolton ( and the ref) didn’t make it easy for us today. Good thing we won and kept the run going. Not happy with the sending off, need the decision overturned as we have a weak spot going into the next three games. I’m not convinced with Wheelan as he gives the ball away cheaply. Would prefer Jedi when he’s fit but would like to see us strengthen in Jan. Snodgrass did well today and looks to be settling in. Not the best of games but happy with the 3 points.

A hard earned 3 points. Bolton were very physical and I thought the referee failed to deal withe their anti-football tactics. I was impressed by Davis, who kept his cool despite the rough treatment he received. Kodja should realise he is part of a team and whelan is out of form and luck!

Great to see Villa are top of the 6 match form guide. The next 3 matches should be interesting. I believe SB is appealing Taylor’s red card.

Well done on another win UTV.
