Villa – Barnsley; I’m worried

Well, I’m back and it’s bloody nippy isn’t it?

Straight down to it then and I’m not in the slightest bit optimistic about this game, I can tell you.

I’ve tried to keep the optimism up, but there are just too many things going against us all at the same time, for me to maintain it.
Losing to Ipswich at home, combined with the way we approached the game has pushed me over the edge and it’s not a nice place to be.
But while I’m full of gloom and despondency, so I’m also clinging to the belief that things can surely only get better. Can’t they?

The trouble is, while I do think things will gradually get better, I’m not convinced we’ve bottomed yet. Which is of course worrying when you look at our current league position.
So where does that leave us regarding tonight?

Let’s look at some facts.
We have, on paper, one of the best sides in the league, but we look aimless and don’t seem to play as a team.
We have two of the best strikers in the league and can’t score (although Kodjia’s been away of course).
Hitch mentioned it when he said the oppo’s goalies seem to put on a blinder against us.
And every single mistake we make gets punished.

It’s a situation I’d struggle to wish on our neighbours down the road.

But more worrying is that Barnsley are a better side than Ipswich. So how are we going to beat them?

Well, I haven’t got a clue and we can only hope Steve Bruce, or whoever it is actually comes up with tactics, has.
Bruce intimated that he might drop the 3-5-2 (ahem), which suggests we might go back to four at the back.
I can’t say I’ve watched Barnsley, so don’t know what to think.

The manager’s in a big hole at the moment and frankly, I don’t care how we go about it, but we cannot lose this game tonight. Momentum is already building against Bruce and with us footy fans being what we are, the clamour for his head is only going to increase.
I’m not even convinced a draw will be enough, particularly if it’s combined with another poor performance.

I’ve called for Bruce to be more Gung-ho, but it would appear he doesn’t see things the same way.
That’s his prerogative of course, because he’s the manager, but my opinion is he isn’t doing himself any favours in setting up negatively.

The trouble is, we look really weak when Jedinak isn’t available. Questions have been asked about Lansbury being played deeper and Bjarnason doesn’t seem to be very well rated up to now, although that is probably down to his lack of fitness. Which of course begs the question why he isn’t being introduced gradually.

Ah, what do I know?

I’m going to go for a 1-0 win, but it’s more in hope than anything.
Like I said. I’m worried.

Bruce has lost the dressing room. Were going down if he stays almost guaranteed to lose the next three and by then probably in relegation or only 1 point outside.

It’s going to be ten years plus before we even get near to the prem. the club us a shambles from top to bottom and we may never recover from this. It really is that bad I wouldn’t even bet against us being in the conference in next few years. Even if this team were in division 1 they would struggle to win a game

Ok Bruce fans. Now please explain why we should stick with him? Other than “it’s not fair to sack hime after such a short time” I struggle to see it. I’m ready to be enlightened though.

other we threw away a 2 goal lead at home to pne all we got was ross gate
lost to spurs with a new formation ,old italian managers would been proud off 631 no shots just defend
new formation/players match after match the lucky bag effect

I have to agree. I was actually for Bruce and thought he’d get us into top 10 but not top 6. Now I can’t defend him he is worse than RDM at least RDM played half decent football. The team is a joke the lot of them should hang their heads in shame!

Agreed oohah. Di Matteo actually had us playing better, we’d just collapse after 60 minutes and couldnt hold leads. He was also sacked for less. Anything other than sacking Bruce would be double standards by Dr Tony. My only fear is Bruce’s media pals influencing the club

Steve Bruce claims to have waited 20 years for a chance like this. He may find out soon than it could be another 20 years before he is offered the chance again. I have made it clear on here that I am prepared to give him time to get things right and that is still the case. I had hoped for an improvement against Ipswich which I didn’t see. After tonight’s game I can only go on the result and stats and it’s not good. We have to hang on in there though. They are good players but not anywhere near to bring a good team. That is down to Bruce and coaches. Calderwood arrival seems to coincide with our downturn or maybe it’s just coincidence. It will come good. Keep the faith (for another 3 games anyway).

I fear Dr Tony will swallow the Sky / Media hype from Bruce’s media pals. If that happens at best we’ll escape relegation but at worst we’ll be a league one club. We have to act now, Mark Warburton is available and would do a better job.

Losing 7 of our last 8 games is not acceptable. This is going to sound very elitist but Villa shouldn’t be on this kind of run, especially in the Championship against average teams.

It’s not elitist Fastjet. With the money spent we would should be nowhere near where we are. Wrong manager. That’s it. Get a manager like Carvahal, Clement and loads of others and it would change within a game or two. I don’t trust the club to get it right, and Bruce isn’t the right man.

The way I see it at present is this. If we took the Chelsea first team on loan and their manager, put them in a Villa shirt and sent them out they would likely get beat. Cursed we are, cursed I tell you.

He do not give a fuck and he knows he is not capable of turning this because he has no clue. I have seen these of managers here in Norway to they knows shit the only thing they can is to drill defence a fucking child can do that he has not a clue how to play attacking soccer. Alan Hutton is one of his favorite picks that is a fucking joke. And he has also used Abby who l
