I’d just got home from work on Wednesday and was about to start writing my thoughts about the Brentford game, when I got called back for an emergency.
So I spent an hour driving back, only to find it wasn’t an emergency after all.
The long and short of it is, I got back in the car just as we were kicking off and had to settle for the WM commentary for the first half.
Where we sounded awful. Hause, it seems, was being picked on in “being caught out several times”.
To my mind, there’s no way he should be being started, as I’m going to give him the benefit and say he’s way too rusty and should only come on as a sub for now.
I’m not convinced by Taylor’s “injury” at all and as much as I don’t rate him in the slightest, I’d rather see him in than Hause as it stands.
I still struggle to believe we didn’t get a proper, decent Left back in.
Anyway, I watched the second half and actually thought that while we were still poor, I could see signs that we were actually looking slightly better as the game went on.
We created chances that we should have done better with and massively against the run of play, I thought we might actually nick the points.
It wasn’t to be though and we were still rubbish overall.
I won’t go into it anymore, because it’s gone.
But the result reminded me of what Dean Smith and a few fans were saying in that we had a big week, with Sheffield, Brentford and Albion and three wins would see us right.
I laughed at the time, as I struggled to see us getting much at all.
And I still don’t.
Squad news.
Not much has changed on our part, but Taylor should be available. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, myself.
Chester is definitely out, while Grealish is itching to play, but apparently got knocked back by the doctor.
Albion have Dwight Gayle suspended, but Matt Phillips, Hal Robson-Kanu, James Morrison and Ahmed Hegazi may all be available.
Not that it matters much, as I expect Albion to have far too much for us, whoever they put out.
Things ain’t clicking, we’re not getting any luck, we’re just outright rubbish; call it as you like, just as Lee Hendrie said the other night, we just don’t look like winning and you have to wonder where the next point is coming from.
It’s something I agree with. So much so that I can’t see us getting anything tomorrow either.
Our midfield is far too weak and the wide players aren’t cutting it.
A run of bad form?
It looks a lot more than that to me, but whatever, I’m glad we’ve already got 44 points on the board.
I’m getting close to the stage where I’ll be calling for us to totally change things up and make sweeping changes and just stick anyone in, as they can hardly do much worse and we can’t keep rewarding such poor performance with repeated starts.
But it’s not going to happen, because we’ve loaned our best kids out anyway.
I’d expect a goal when Albion back off at some stage, but I doubt it’ll be enough and think it’ll be a comfortable 2-1 to the Albion.
What surprises me is that I’m sure the bookies have us as favourites.
The thought of losing this and facing the scum shortly worries me 🙁
+1
The bookies must be Albion supporters Badger to think that., a win today? Not on your Nellie, I often still wonder what our kids ever did to be punished by being sent to play for other teams, Ok its to give them experience , I think they would have benefit sending the whole team away to get experience. Badger it still hurting to see players that will never be good for Villa as long as they have an hole in the backside . 3-1 Albion, an agonizing weekend for me again.
Are any of us expecting any wholesale changes for today’s game? Not me either! We seem to be persevering with 4 defenders, 3 midfielders, 2 ‘wingers’ and 1 striker and clearly it doesn’t work, without Grealish anyway. Why not start Davis up front with Abraham? At least he can hold onto the ball when played up to him. Of course then we lose a winger but we have nothing to lose by trying something different. We aren’t getting promotion! As for today I think 3-1 to Albion.
Just as a ,much needed change of subject just settling down to watch Celta Vigo v Levante and Antonio Luna is playing for Levante. Remember Tony Moon?
Anyway he’s in a team just below halfway in the top division in Spain so he’s doing better than Villa anyway.
Shock 2-0 to Villa.
iam back, everybody hide for cover.
i refrained from posting after the game wednesday evening, as i was livid and drunk. having returned from a unscheduled midweek visit to local.
no point crying now over it, everybody here, has already covered that match and sheff utd one too very well i would just end up repeating what has already been said.
i just like to say over them two games, just highlighted more that we are unable to cope with teams pressing us high. i loved to know why this is the case. we don’t do anything correct we just freeze up. why is that ????
when teams press you, its a chance to run the legs out of the opposition, but we had no movement and couldnt string two passes together. another thing is when you realize you cant play through the press, you should go longer past the press, but we struggled with that tammy couldnt get hold of the ball, maybe davis should be brought on to hold the ball and tammy play off him.
todays prediction havent a clue i have this down as a draw on coupon. but i am going for a 3 nil villa win.
we have to turn up today. being outplayed in last two, is no laughing matter. our players are paid well and they have to show more commitment more effort. how dare the opposition try to stop us playing. we should grow a backbone and if the opposition want to press us then we use that too our advantage,
Welcome back Nath.
Green in from start – now is the time to show whether any of our U23’s are actually first team material.
Davis not in the squad – is he injured – again?
cheers 🙂 hitch
just seen our team. davis has to be injured. dont understand the reason why he be excluded from the squad. he is the only player we have that can hold the play up and feed runners. both tammy and kodjia are more in behind players.
i like the team its the best we have this minute available, hause is not a full back and fans should give him a break. he will improve with games and with more fitness.
a mate corrected me midweek i was moaning no grealish . he pointed out spuds have been without two of their best players for weeks. we cant keep using grealish as excuses for our own deficiencies
tom daley isnt playing for wba
And while I’m at it, I’ll predict a Villa win – that should just about seal our fate 🙂
Don’t ask for a score prediction – could be anything from 1-0 to 5-4!
