My nerves are quite simply shot to pieces.
What a game that was and even for the neutrals it must have been a fantastic game to watch; a game that was played in the way footy is meant to be played, with both teams playing very openly and just going for the win.
Unfortunately, at the same time, it was technically shocking, especially defensively.
But who cares when you get entertainment like that?
We were without doubt the better side in the first half, even though QPR did well in taking the lead (albeit with some more awful defending). And then Benteke took the ball on the left, cut inside to shoot and got a deflection to beat Rob Green.
Benteke’s second came with a run on goal from near enough the halfway line, where he showed great skill in using the last man to blind Green and deftly finish.
2-1 at half time and deservedly so.
We came out in a similar vein in the second half, but Chris Ramsey made a couple of very early subs and while the timing seemed odd, they definitely worked, as Austen was allowed to play more central, when he’d been forced out wide in the first half.
QPR began to get more control in the middle and it wasn’t a big surprise when QPR scored from a corner to make it two each.
It was even less of a surprise to me when QPR took a 3-2 lead, as we’d lost all of our impetus, via of all people Charlie Austin, who took a touch and clattered it past Guzan.
Things were looking a bit ominous, but we got a free kick and Benteke hit a cracker, which went in off the left post.
Three each was the result and Benteke looked pretty upset and sat on his haunches for a fair while after the whistle blew.
I’d love to know what he was thinking, but my guess is it was either “What do we have to do to win a game?” or maybe more likely, “Why am I having to play with this load of rubbish around me?”
Because that’s the sad truth of it.
We’re a very poor team, who played another very poor team and even though we got a point, I’m disappointed.
We needed the win today and you won’t convince me a point is ok.
But still, that said, what a game.
So much better than most of the tripe we’ve witnessed for most of this season.
Even if we didn’t get the result we all wanted.
Sherwood is much better than Lamberk (who would have 100% taken us down). Sherwood’s tactics are definitely questionable, but we have scored as many goals under him as we did all season.
I feel for him in the fact that both first choice full backs are out injured, but playing 2 x wingers at full back is a dangerous game. Clark could also have gone LB and Okore/Vlaar in the middle. Also playing Weimann LW against United was crazy…he hasnt got a left foot and he cant cross.

Sherwood definitely has a funny way of playing the game, in that it’s always “balls out” and it will cost us at times.
But I’d much rather the “if we can’t defend against them, try and outgun them” approach, as opposed to the “we can’t beat them, so we’ll try and minimise our loss” approach.
With the latter, you’ve lost before you start, imo.
But debating the former approach is at least entertaining and just so much more positive 🙂
How can u say lamberk would def have taken us down when he’s kept us up the past few seasons. Yes we are scoring more but also conceding more. You were probably one of the people that said Lanberk was better than mcleish after a few games also.
Oohah…..spot on mate. Selective memory yet again. We were actually better under Lambert in his opening few games (all the stats confirm that)! We all know what happened next….! Grim, Dim, Tim does not have the capacity or the tactical nous to know when to change tactics in order for us to take points….which is whats required in a relegation battle. Stoke, Swansea and Newcastle are games where we should have got us at least a point from each! Any team would have beaten Sunderland on that day. We beat the Baggies with 2 goalkeeping blunders after they bossed the second half. As for QPR, its disgraceful to concede 3 at home against that shower of shit!…….yet another 2 points lost after a poor team selection and complete tactical naivety!
Richardson was in trouble right througout the game whilst Lowton who played quite well at LB previously remained on the bench……someone explain that one to me! As for not having Gil instead of ‘sick note’ Cole beggars belief. God help us on Saturday when the GD takes another hammering due to poor tactics and team selection!

No there isn’t. I said the same v utd and as always was proved right. I’m not saying we won’t give them a game but we won’t win especially as ref will be under pressure to get them through for media final v arsenal
Oohaah…you wanted Lambert sacked as much as anyone else. The bloke was out of ideas and out of time. I’m not convinced that Sherwood is the right man, but I know I would rather have him than Lambert in charge for the final run-in. The fact you are even questionning that is comical.

It amazes me that some have condemmed Sherwood before he’s even had a chance.
He’s trying to turn around a crap squad that had ZERO belief in themselves.
A telling point for me, was Benteke. He was smiling, even when we were losing, because he knew we were playing to suit him in getting goals.
Ok, it shouldn’t be about one man, but the more telling point is that he looked gutted after the game, which tells me he cares.
Whereas he didn’t seem to give a toss under Lambert. Along with a few others.
Benteke played well for lamberk too early on. Let’s see how long it lasts.
I did want lamberk sacked but I also said as a caveat that I was worried we would just get another cheap learner clone who is no better. And as always im right.
