Villa 3-1 Hull; Survival

Aston Villa 3-1 Hull All Goals & Highlights 03… by All_Goals

Well, I can’t say it was a classic game, as it was filled with the usual errors and poor passing.
Hull never really looked up for it in the first half, certainly not as much as I thought they would, anyway, but it doesn’t really matter.
At the end of the day we got the all-important 3 points that ensured our survival in the Premier league for another season. Which is about all it will be if things don’t change.
We should make no mistake about this. While Hull were pretty poor, we weren’t much better, especially in the middle of the first half, where we were desperately poor.

Not that it’s a day where I really want to concentrate on the bad side of things.
We also played some decent stuff at times and that coupled with the fact that we had a few chances and actually scored three goals at home, made things really pleasing overall; at least enough to make me think I hadn’t totally wasted my money anyway.

I won’t talk about Hull’s goal, save to say I was absolutely fuming.
But it wasn’t enough to dampen the atmosphere, especially when we got the third, which combined with most other results going our way, meant it was party time.

The devil in me says it would have been a perfect day if you know who had been relegated, but the Brummie/midlander in me says I’m somewhat glad they weren’t.

So we go again next season then.
Hopefully with the club having been cleared out from top to bottom.

Well done lads…We will NOT be relegated. I dont think there should be any negativity tonight. Hull goal was clearly offside.

BTW…nice to see Bowery getting a good run out. I thought he did really well and the cross for Weimans second was spot on!

Bowery was very good for us today. The fans were MOTM. Now fingers crossed there are wholesale changes at the villa this summer

Now our safety has been confirmed, I see no reason what so ever for Lerner not to announce his “plans” for the club earlier than the end of the season.
Put us all out of our misery for christ sake!!!

Are we allowed to play Grealish and Carruthers in the last two games? If so, would like to see both of them as well as Robinson and Donacien get some game time.

Relieved, surprised but now the most important is hopefully to come: Lerner, Lamberk, and Faulkner out of our club once and for all.

So Lambert wasn’t part of the walk of honour around Villa Park and claims he’s still in the dark with Lerner over what’s going on.

“You’re asking me a question I can’t give an answer to and that’s me being honest.

“The chairman will come out and say what he’s going to say and I really don’t know what he will say. His statement is what it is. I understand what has gone on in the last few weeks and I’m pretty sure people will find out soon.”

Langford, I have loved you positivity over the past few years and enjoy reading your comments but I really do hope you never have to use the “We will NOT be relegated” phrase for a long time to come. How about “we Will finish top four” !!! Has a nicer ring to it. Lets in live in hope one day. Happy that Aston Villa are still in premier league for next season but I really think we have used up all our relegation luck up and more of the same next year will see us finally relegated. Even Wigans ran out eventually.

I take back my comments about us getting battered, although we lost our way for about 20mins, we did do a good job and I thought Bowery had a great game, but Deph & Westwood play better when El Ermady is not there.

Now looking forward to the takeover and the bright future………oh yes and about to get rat arsed!!!

If a takeover is in place and based on survival Lerner could and should announce it now. Anything else and he will wait till season is over. I still think whatever is happening it will not be a takeover or at least not the type we are all hoping for. Seeing is believing !!!! Tell us now Mr Lerner !!!!!!

VTID…agree with you about Bowery I thought he done exceptionally well given that he’s had hardly any game time. I think he is certain to start on Tuesday at Maine Road.

..and Lambert got it right with his sub. In taking Gabby off I thought that Bowery wouldn´t be the right choice. But he played really well. It was a brave decision, although after his own goal my doubts were growing. He wins quite a lot of headers, is very mobile and has good skills. He was hammerd as a flop from many people but we should wait and see.
Weimann was clearly Motm, obviously he enjoyed his new role.
And we have to thank Gabby. Only staying on the pitch for a few minutes but created the first goal with a great run. Great relief!

Relief certainly seems to be the main emotion of the day. Though it was interesting to see Lambert not appearing on the lap of honour (or should we say lap of shame) and walking straight down the tunnel without acknowleging the fans. I certainly hope it’s a sign the new owners have told him he’s not wanted.
    Murat Yakin for the job!

Definitely. I’d have expected a lot more out of him that what he did there, seems clueless. Do wonder if Tan will keep him. Dæhli looks a decent prospect though.

Agreed. They should of stuck with mackay were averaging a point more per game under him plus they were 16th. Tan probably got a reference of fergie though!!

I would like to say a big congrats to Bowery because what he did for 75 mins was more than Gabby has done in 75 games . Now let’s get rid of the big time I think I’m good Charlie’s and kick on next season with a new owner , new manager and better players UTV .

Did anyone else listen to Graham Taylor on WM. He was asked his thoughts on Villa and if he would take on a DOF role. He reacted strongly saying he was not in a position to air his views as yet but he did have very strong ones about what has been happening at Villa Park. He followed this up saying he would take the job of DOF if his duties were made clear, and he would only take on the job if the board were clear that the club would be pushing on for a top 6 finish every season. He said the club was a massive one and that we should be expecting no less.

I think this is down to how the club want to move forward and what style of play we put in place. I like Lowton, Westwood, Vlaar, Bertrand, Guzan, i would keep Delph, Albrighton, Okore, Bowery, Benteke Wiemann, Gabby. I would like to see Caulker, Ings, Nzonzi, and a marquee signing

I have mixed feelings about Gabby, but his pace really puts opposing defences on the back foot. I think he would be a good squad player who can be used against teams who struggle with pace or in away matches. On his day he is effective but players will not be effective every game against every team, we need more depth in our squad to be able to push on
