I’m stunned.
The first half sounded superb and Tony Morley suggested that the first half was the best we’d played for around two years. Indeed, it sounded like even Westwood, Gabby and Hutton were playing really well and Johnstone hardly touched the ball.
At one stage, it wouldn’t have been a surprise if we were 4-0 up; we were that impressive.
So what happened?
We went in two up at half time and things should have been very comfortable.
Nothing changed when the teams came back on and we retained the same 4-1-4-1 that seemed the best balanced we’ve been in a long time.
Yet we still managed to let them back into it and this surely has to be a mental thing?
Steve Bruce, who I don’t see got it wrong today, even though I feared for us from the off when I saw the line-up, must quite simply be pulling his hair out.
I predicted a 0-0 today and I’d have taken that.
But to have played so well in the first half and still end up drawing?
That’s a massive 2 points dropped, whichever way you look at it.
There are plus points in that we showed that we can do it.
But we have to show more resilience if we’re going to get to the play-offs.
Lansbury looked ok and that’s another plus.
Along with us retaining our home record.
Oh, we got two goals too.
But I’m still massively disappointed.

Keep it coming Langford, Oohah will be ecstatic, he might even make a personal appearance. ….
Bill….oohah will just say they are all shit signings!
Breaking news?………..JV and Oohah may sign a contract later today, a spokesman said they might be back tomorrow night.
Tshibola loan deal just confirmed
Another week off for Tshibola then. We play Forest next Saturday.
No worries mate! I havent got a scooby who the ‘big’ signing will be. Will keep looking and relaying.
The Doc’s at it again…
{(95%-(95%+X))+10%+20%)*1/3}+(-99%-65%-50%)+50%+95%#UTV
I write like that when I’m pissed 🙂
Going to take a Maths A level course before the summer transfer window opens 🙂
I think Cryptography is the course you need Hithcy.
*LV*
Hitch are you on it???? (cryptic clue/🍷)
Missus has locked the booze cabinet 🙂
First equation is the Taylor / Ayew swop deal plus cash
Second equation -99% Tshibola
– 65% – 50% – 2 to leave but who?
+50% + 95% – I thought the latter was Bedeau but seems that it might be this mystery deal
Off to buy a mystic octopus
😀 grounds for divorce
****update****
Medical booked today for the ‘big’ signing….again NO name!
Just hope its not ‘big’ as in Gabby or Dunne 🙂
That Wycombe wanderers forward takes some beating, hope it ain’t him
Lol…makes Gabby look like ‘slimmer of the year’ 🙂
**** update***** ‘ BIG signing is NOT Rhodes’
That leaves me completely baffled, unless its a smoke screen of course!
SB said it would be a surprise! Not all surprises are welcome!
Best one ever was when Sir Ron signed Denis Mortimer and presented him as a Christmas present to the fans – awesome!
That arsenal player seems to be on his way to Brighton the mirror states, I’m at a loss who’s the biggy coming in??
Yep…Denis Mortimer…what a signing.
Could it be Rhodes AND a big signing then?….not sure if Rhodes is completely a no-go now. My man has been more ‘secretive’ with his messages today!
If Villa have managed to keep this signing under the radar does that suggest someone coming in from abroad – just hope its not Robbie Keane!
Lol….or Simon Dawkins 🙂
Taylor – medical tomorrow
My man very ‘guarded’ today….no idea why though.
Also papers still saying we’re signing Bedeau from Bury – I’m completely non plussed but all is well Giddy as the booze cupboard has been unlocked 🙂
Im already on it lads, whisky taking a bollocking.Happy days.
Good man Bill – love a malt. Are you an Islay man?
Hitch did you get a locksmith out??? Fair play mate
Nah just sweet talked the missus – and she wanted a glass of wine 🙂
***** update*****
Taylor, tonight, chance of 3 in tomorrow, one of them is Bedau. Still no news on the ‘big’ signing!
When did we ever have a really exciting last day transfer window with players coming in that were any good? Dr. T celebrating the Chinese New Year?
Hitch…dont know mate but I’m having trouble keeping up!
Telegraph claiming we could be in for Scott Hogan. SSN saying Hogan wanted by Crystal Palace and UNNAMED Championship club!
Can’t see hogan coming Brentford want serious money, if we’re prepared to pay Brentford more than we’re offering for Rhodes.
Yeah I wondered whether we’d gone for Hogan but it doesn’t really make sense when we could get Rhodes for less and SB really rates him
Various sources quoting “£15m” for Hogan.
Not sure that stacks-up [especially with Rhodes available at around £10m] since it almost certainly would mean having to try and recoup some big money somewhere else.
Of course if they’ve managed to offload RM for anything like what we paid for him…
Nor me….dont know if that source is reliable anyway!
B’ham Mial now suggesting that Westwood could be on his way to Burnley for £6m.
If that’s true, I can imagine many posters on here celebrating…
I wont be celebrating. Very limited talent (not his fault), but a very good professional.
Good luck to him and thanks for your efforts!
Me neither – but Badger, OLL and many others would be over the moon!
All I can say is that he never went missing like so many others did last season. Total respect from me and I hope goes on to have a good career.
Not a big fan but gave it his best & as mentioned he was professional a quality certainly lacking in some players nowadays all the best
Too true Giddy…..the likes of Guzan, Richards, Gabby and Lescott are the ones I despise. Anyone who gives everything in the Claret and Blue shirt will always have my respect.
I wish the guy the best and always felt he was made the scapegoat for the failings of many others. He always gave his best and how quickly have people forgotten the early goal he scored against Hull in 2015 which pretty much ensured our survival that season.
Watch him prosper at Burnley – you heard it here first 🙂
Yes I’m just that, midfielder that don’t create chances, I’ll go as far as saying he did his best but negative result. Wish him better days.
According to the Mail Dyche is after Westwood.
Could this be our best window ever?
Lol….. See above 🙂
Reckon the media are pi**ed off because they can’t find out who this ‘mystery’ player is so are just throwing out names in desperation.
Why would we pay £15m for Hogan when we could get Rhodes for £10m – ah now I see Bruce’s cunning plan – trying to get him withdrawn for tomorrow’s game 🙂
Probably right about Hogan. Boro lost out in their bid for a new striker which could be a stumbling block in our pursuit of Rhodes……thats my guess!
Wow…Sutton v Arsenal…..wow
Fairplay to Sutton really pleased for them that’ll be a good earner
Ps could Sutton request the tie to be played at the Emirates for additional revenue????
Giddy…you could in the old days. Not sure about the present day rules on that one. Would be a great earner for Sutton. Bound to live on TV as well!
3G pitch?????
Dont know about the pitch mate as didnt watch it yesterday.
Sutton have one but only allowed by THE FA in non league football, so why are Sutton allowed to play on it in the FA CUP don’t make sense to me
Yes….thats a nonsense….typical FA I suppose.
They contradict their own rules mate, if Sutton got promoted to the second division they’d have to rip it up.the commentator said that
Nothing the FA does surprises me mate.
Dean Jones (reporter)……….never heard of him myself saying Brentford accept bid for Hogan but he wants PL move
Well tell him we will next year.
nice to see posts in support of the black sheep players like hutton and westy. both receive to much abuse for trying their best. i wish westy all the luck if he leaves.
6 mill to burnley thats some fee for westy. can anybody shed some light on this ayew swap. is it straight swap or plus cash. i thought ayew was valued around 10mill and that left back is valued a few summer back 1mill seems a big gap in values
Swap, we get Taylor plus 5 mil being reported. Good move IMO
just reading your posts from earlier. any ideas who this mystery signing will be ?? lang
Sorry mate…my source as been very ‘guarded’ today. No idea why. He’s not posted anything for the last 3 hours so I guess he’s busy. From what I gather he has something to do with Little Aston hospital who, apparently, do the medicals!
villa are odds on to sign hogan 5/6
Thats interesting. Will keep you updated if I hear anything.
Well thats me for today. Off to the boozer for a few jars!
***** latest mssage I’ve received***** could be as many as 4 tomorrow, NOT including Taylor******
You might know this lads, Hogan bid refused, Westwood going for £5 million, still waiting for the secret player.
Westwood initially a loan but with option for permanent move in summer at c£5m
Off topic of the new signings mainly, but I confirm I will be delighted to see the back of Westwood. He wasn’t despicable like Richards, Lescott and Gabby latterly, but he was way out of his depth. He would not look exceptional in the National league.Talking of which:-
I was at Gander Green Lane yesterday, met a load of old boys who played in my era and we all saw Sutton give a Leeds team the run around. You can imagine how those who were watching or playing in 1970 when Leeds won 6-0 felt.
The FA have sanctioned 3G/4G pitches up to National League and in all their cup competitions, provided the pitches in National League [Sutton & Maidstone] are of international size. They are; so hilarious to hear Lawro mention the small Sutton pitch which is 2 yards longer and just as wide as Anfield!
Switching Sutton v Arsenal to Emirates is not an option. The current rule states if there are safety concerns the Professional Game Board may authorise a switch to the nearest suitable ground, which would be Chelsea.
