Villa 2-1 Hull; a game of two halves.

After last week’s poor show against Newcastle, where I basically spat my dummy out and couldn’t be bothered to write anything, I determined that I’d try to look at today’s game in a more positive light.

I didn’t really need to as it turned out, because straight from the off the Villa were very good to watch.
We took the game to Hull and played with a really high tempo, something that I’ve often said is our best asset.
We were quite simply too sharp and fast for the opponents; so much so, that they looked a bit shell-shocked, in my opinion.

Just when some of us were slating Gabby and Andi Weimann for a lack of goals, so they turned around and proved us wrong.
Gabby took his goal well with a sharp turn and shot, which reminded me of Kenny Dalglish in his heyday and Weimann did well too, after a nice ball in from Richardson.

So two up at half time (it could easily have been three if Westwood’s free kick had been an inch to the right) and we were cruising towards what I thought was going to be a 4 or 5-0 job.

So what on earth happened in the second half?

You might say that Hull massively stepped up their game, but I don’t believe that was the case.
My money says we totally took our foot off the gas and let them back into it.
So much so, that they looked more dangerous than us.
Perhaps it was a case where our lads had just run themselves into the ground, in which case I’ll forgive them.
But I doubt it myself.
I reckon it was down to Lambert wanting to protect the lead; a poor tactic.

Whatever, there were quite a few positives.
The defence looks pretty solid overall.
Cissokho gives me loads more confidence about our left hand side.

And young Grealish just scares the proverbial out of the opposition.
Mr Potato head had obviously done his research and told the players to take him out.
If the kid can stand up to the “treatment”, I see a great future for him.

The biggest positive of all?
That’s 7 points out of 9.
Better than I expected, if I’m honest.

Oh here we go, that money will just disappear.
When we spend nothing in January it’ll be “we are saving it for the summer”. Rubbish.
There is a headline on Sky that reads
“TV deal led clubs to spending huge”.
      Not at Villa it didn’t.
      Utter crap.

Cuz we get the odd muppet we have to put certain comments into moderation. Me or badger get an email saying comment gone into moderation we then go straight on site and one of us authorise it. 99.99% of comments are fine but the odd fuckwit ruins it for everyone else.

damn we didn’t sign anyone then, lucky i didn’t say i would eat my hat i agree with giddy no panic buys no irelands lol if lerner offers lambert the 8mill in january i think he can draw up some targets that can move us forwards, tom cleverly is overrated hes after a whopping pay off and a large contract, my work utd mates told him this before deadline day.

looking back to summer when did lambert know lerner would give him some dosh, was it when the penny dropped in lerners head that nobody is gonna buy a assist stripped company. one thing thou how many weeks or days did lambert know the budget cos this would surely av affected who was on his wanted list , WAKE UP guys

He will not have 8m to spend in jan ESP if we are in a mid table position which seems likely. Why won’t people believe me when I say Lerner is not selling Lerner just wants to stay up and rake in the money.

Hello is that Mr Cleverley – “yes”
Would you like to come to the Villa – “no”
Thats great, can we leak it all over the media that we want to buy you – “yes no problem”

Just another player who we fail to buy, lets all wake up and smell the coffee both rumours yesterday were absolute bullshit to keep fans thinking Lerner might spend something (I fell for it ) We would have known his wage demands far before we made any bid to Man U !!!

yes we probably did know his wages and thought we could get him to take a bit of a wage drop to get regular first team football . we were wrong and so were everton . now he can sit out the rest of his contract and sign for someone next year on a bosman . its time clubs started to play hardball will some players and agents but some mug will sign him next year and i only hope its not us.

I can see your point Domingo, but if we really believed a footballer would take a pay cut to come to the Villa to get first team football, the the club is more naive than I thought.

Oohah, I don’t think people believe you because of the majority of crap you spout. When you do get something right you end up having a wankfest about it and then start crying that no one will believe you. Maybe if you stopped making up imaginary scenarios before anything conveyed has happened maybe then people would start to think of you differently and believe you. Well that’s what I think anyway.

nice points lamberKs dad 🙂 home truths don’t u just love um

cleverly wouldn’t leave because his agent told him, he will have his pick of top clubs when his contract runs down. well i beg to differ 12 months on and no 1st time as he won’t play much this year, unless sumat drastic happens. utd wanted 2 sell not loan and everton i heard were skint. i can’t see any of the top 7 clubs lining up cleverly in the summer. when he won’t av played much in 2 seasons. offering 60k wake up tommy dump ur agent and think 4 urself and lastly

we didn’t want him anyhow and thats not sour grapes, hes no better than wot we have

😛 enjoy reserves tommy u will love it
