Villa 1 Blues 0

A game of two halves if ever there was one. Why Sherwood started with Gabby is a mystery. Lescott was woeful probably worse than Dunne and Vlaar put together!  At least Sherwoid got it right for once in the second half getting those two players off and putting in Grealish and Ayew.

That was the difference in the end and to be fair we deserved to win by more. Ayew had easily his best game for us and has started to look the part and Gestede was like a man possessed after he scored.

All in all a satisfactory result that gives us the bragging rights but still a long way to go and Sherwood really has his work cut out.

Tonight though is about enjoying the result and taking pleasure at how sad those Blue Noses will be in the morning. UTV

The good news is Gana is back in training and might be fit for tomorrow.
The bad news is Gabby might play too.

At least the same question is spreading far and wide: why is Agbonlahor even being considered?

    Yes, I read that earlier.
    The worrying thing is that Sherwood’s comments suggested that if Gabby is fit, he’ll start, no questions;

I wonder if, when he said there will come a time when he would have to play a certain side, that it might mean dropping Gabby?

While I, along with many Villa fans no doubt, appreciate his contribution over the years, if someone at the club is demanding he play (Lerner?) because of what they think he means to the fans……
Well, they’re reading it totally wrong, imo.

It can’t be part of his contract, that he has to play if fit.
    Can it????

Surely we wouldn’t be that stupid?

I don’t believe for a minute that Lerner would tell Sherwood or any of his predecessors which players to pick.

As for the ‘contract’ question – have heard similar suggestions in the past, elsewhere [Rooney at ManUre?] but then which genius at VP would have agreed to that? Hardly imagine any of the present senior management…

Really are digging deep to blast Lerner, aren’t we? Never would he try to tell a manager who he can or cannot play, ridiculous to even suggest that.

Sorry guys I’m a bit lost here (and more than slightly pissed!). Not really sure what we are trying to say. Are we really saying that TS is obligated to play Mr Villa? If that’s the case – perhaps it’s because he thinks the Villa fans want to see Shabby playing and please don’t laugh at the suggestion because I think there’s more truth to it than we might think!

TS will eventually find his own way and then we will see whether or not it works. In the meantime I am prepared to keep an open mind …… but …… it may get worse before it gets better

Bu***er – does that make any sense!

“perhaps it’s because he thinks the Villa fans want to see Shabby playing”
That’s exactly what I’m suggesting, except it’s not Sherwood’s decision.

Andrew, it’s not about blasting Lerner, it’s more about him thinking he’s doing the right thing, but being misguided.
I’m not saying it’s definitely true, but who has been the only constant at Aston Villa in the last few years?
It would certainly explain why Gabby keeps getting picked when seemingly the vast majority of Villa fans think he detracts from the team.

As for a chairman telling a manager who to play; it certainly wouldn’t be the first time would it?
Torres at Chelsea immediately springs to mind.

It was just a thought, that’s all.

There is no excuse or reason to start Gabby. He simply isnt good enough in any position. As for being Mr Villa…we also have Grealish and Lescott who are both Villa fans. So that makes no sense at all.

The truth is, as much as I like him, he hasnt been good enough for 4 or 5 seasons now.

Right or Wrong? What do YOU think?
