Transfer window update through my eyes; Very little happening, imo.

So there’s no game tomorrow, which is quite good news on my part, as I would have had to miss it yet again, if there was.

It’s poor really, but I actually appreciate us playing the evening games, as it suits my working pattern.

Whatever, I thought I’d take a look at what might happen in this transfer window and the truth is, I really don’t think there will be much going on at all.

We’ve signed Axel Tuanzebe from Man Utd, who is apparently a centre-back come central midfielder.
While I am happy to welcome him and totally understand why Steve Bruce might think he’s required (Whelan and Jedinak are frankly two old crocks, who we are obviously nursing along), so I’ve never heard of him before now.
And after watching part of the Yeovil- Man Utd game tonight, I would hope he’s a little bit better than the rest of their kids.
I’m really not convinced about how the young lad will operate in the very tough league that is the Championship, as it’s a different world to the U-23’s or whatever, but no doubt someone has seen something in him that might suit us.
I just wonder who it was.

I see some Villa fans have thought about bringing Ross McCormack back and here I have to question their sanity.
He won’t be coming back as long as I’ve got a hole in my proverbial.
Let’s get this straight.
He and Bruce hate each other, simple.
And scoring a boat-load of goals in a ridiculously Mickey Mouse A League means absolutely nothing, in my opinion.
Will we sell him?
Not a chance, unless we’re going to suck up at least half his wages.
I’m sure Bruce will be thinking the further away he is, the better.

Leonardo Ulloa?
Hmm, it’s hard to call this one.
My guess would be that he might prefer to move to us, as it means he wouldn’t have to move home.
But it would seem Brighton might be willing to buy him outright, which is what Leicester want.
At the end of the day, I suspect it will mostly come down to the wages and unfortunately, you’d have to guess that Brighton can edge us out, given our FPP dilemma.
Which says it all, when we consider how far we’ve fallen.
I find that quite depressing, but that’s how it is.

Players out?
That’s an interesting question too.

Elphick?
I strongly suspect he’ll go, as even though I thought he’d done enough to get a run after Terry’s injury, so he was immediately dropped.
The sticking point here will be his wages. He’s on very decent money and I struggle to see who will match what we pay him.

Bjarnasson?
I know he’s come out and said he wants to stay, but a fortnight ago, he apparently wanted to leave.
Can two starts really have made that much difference?
Unless he has cut a deal with Steve Bruce, where he’s been promised lots of games, I don’t see him starting that much. And I’ll bet he’s been promised nothing.
I can see him going to fund someone else, but knowing us, he’s probably got an extra £10 grand a week to stay and keep his trap shut.

And that someone else might be the oddball that none of us expected.
As long as it’s not Alex Bruce, I’ll live with it.

In short, I see Bruce being very much true to his word and there won’t be much happening.

I’m sorry to disappoint those of you who love the speculation.

unchanged so birkir bjarnason keeps his place, if i was manager i wouldnt allow loyalty or sentimental reasons to come in to my team selections. pick your strongest 11. playing a winger as holding midfield is asking for trouble away to a team who will press and pump balls into our heart of defence.

its like johnstone getting injured and a outfield player went in goal cause we used up all subs. he does brilliant. you wouldn’t pick him over johnstone in the next game would you. pick your strongest team then if you lose you can’t complain. bruce has given the fans a great excuse if we lose

I disagree in a way.. i get what your saying but hes proven two games running he can do that job whereas jedinak and whelan have both let us down this season. So on the contrary i think he is the strongest in that position for todays game.

Poor game of football so far. Need to stop this long ball hoof to Hogan, thought we had got over that the last few weeks

poor from villa sheff utd will score if the game continues in same way. we look like we had a week off and are still clocked off. we need to wake up cause they will score, they will sense blood and we could be 2 or 3 down before we start to play.

Poor half by Villa. Losing most of the 50/50 challenges. Also officials are awful for both teams. Need to get Grealish involved as much as possible because they fear him. I think Bjarnasson has done okay, covering a lot of times when needed. I think Hourihane needs to offer more 2nd half, and less hoofing forward in hope.

Well I fear the worst, that showing in first half tells me we’re not goog enough to go up.let’s hope second half gets better.

Great result. 5 wins in a row! When did that last happen? It was always going to take genius or luck to win that game. Still think Johnstone deserved MOM though.

nothing like a a hard fought win. i liked the reaction at full time by the experienced players like terry snodgrass and hutton all celebrating the importance of the game.

yet us not gloss over the performance it was gritty at best, sheff utd were miles better first half, second half they slightly shaded it. but hats off to villa they hung in there and grabbed the winner. true grit

Well done to the lads. A crucial away win. Was happy to take a point seeing as Derby were drawing but these points on the road could make all the difference. Say what you like about Bruce but there seems to be a real team spirit about the lads that hasn’t been evident in years. Fair play to Hutton also. Always puts in a shift. 5 in a row!!!!!
