The Sky sports predictor forecasts 15th; Sigh

Roll on the end of the boring international break.
And now England are going to whore themselves out by playing two countries that haven’t qualified for the World cup.
That’ll be useful then, won’t it?
Money, money, money. I’m bloody sick of it; in the game at least.

Anyway, getting to the point, the Daily Express have pointed out that the Sky sports predictor has us finishing the season in 15th place;

You have to laugh.
Or at least I do, because I have yet to see any Villa fan on any site whatsoever, predict that we’ll finish so low.
I know there might be a few Bruce haters that might think it, but I’m yet to read any comments predicting that.
Mid-table, maybe.
And while I’m not confident in the slightest that we’ll win the league (I predicted border-line play-offs) there’s no chance that this will prove correct and I’d take any reasonable bet on behalf of charity that says it will happen.

The one possibly good point is that the predictor sees Blues coming bottom.
But I don’t see that happening either, as we never get what the majority of us want, do we?

Apparently the predictor is based on an algorithm that is grounded in chess. Enough said, in my opinion.
Because the two games have lots in common, don’t they?

As I suggested, roll on the proper footy.
QPR up next and I think…..

Oops, that’s for another day.

  1. I thought I was being negative at top 10… They think we have a better chance at getting relegated than getting a top 2 spot. That and they think Barnsley and Hull will finish above us. While I don’t quite have the same perspective as some of our fans in this squad, as I don’t think it’s as deep as some want to claim it is (just shows with the Terry injury), there isn’t a chance in hell we’ll drop out of a top 10-12 spot nor those 2 teams being ahead of us.

  2. Tired of pundits and journalists being allowed to have baseless opinions, and are now using some algorithm that’s never going to work in football.

  3. In other news, Snodgrass didn’t turn up for court today.
He’s charged with allowing a passenger to carry a child on a passenger’s lap in his car.
No massive great shakes, but the important part is he was requested to turn in for treatment to an injury, by the club. Or at least that was his excuse.
The iffy part is, that he didn’t turn up the first time either, in March, on the grounds that he didn’t think he had too.

If he doesn’t turn up next time, they’ll be arresting him at the training ground.

Snodgrass has been doing the rounds it seems, as there’s also a story, where he talks about how Bruce “nearly ripped a player’s head off” at Hull.

  4. Yay, young Davis has signed a new contract.
I’ve got high hopes for him, especially when I think back to how a certain Carlton Cole was so highly rated.
Similar types, but Davis just looks so much better.

  5. I am not sure what the daftest percentage is in that table, but Cardiff’s 16% chance of relegation would be my choice.

Villa will miss Terry’s leadership, and the length of his absence will kill our play-off hopes IMO. I would rather look at the current table and note the highest position of a team Villa have beaten is 9th. On the basis of that my prediction is we will finish 8th or 9th. The only major chance of a change comes with the transfer window, where not so much anyone coming in to Villa but good players in the teams above us being poached may buy us a rise.

    1. Fingers crossed Terry stays in the dressing room keeping the players in check rather than visiting his old mates in Chelski.

  6. My Chelsea fan mate messaged me a picture (I think from Terry’s Twitter account) of him on his own yesterday in a private jet. No idea where he was headed but probably not London!

  7. perhaps joining sunderland in a downward spiral, would be a blessing. southampton and wolves were division one clubs. not too far back. it doesn’t matter where experts predict we will finish. i beat kammy on my coupon regular. but predicting where each clubs will finish is hard, especially in championship. before season i expected all the teams to be around where they are except wolves. i expected them to be a good team but inconsistent, i still think they will struggle in the winter.

but looking around the division, apart from wolves, villa are as good as any other team on their day. we have improved this season and that means they are more able to withstand the big fish little pond syndrome.on the other hand wolves no disrespect meant. are small fry. when they go to reading saturday. the reading fans or players are going to be saying this games is our world cup final. that is the difference with us and the rest. more importantly clubs like us and leeds who were quarter finals of champions league not too far back, have struggled to live with this expectation. leeds have struggle season after season except last year where they were really good for most the season. but still ended up messing up their best season in years.

bruce has assembled a squad which has been able to live with this pressure more this season, i expect us to improve as the season progresses. if wolves continue in same vein they will be hard to stop. but we don’t have to, we can claim 2 nd or 6th and go up in playoffs.

great news davis signing extension, oh and final thought. terry has been a big reason for US being better team, playing with the big club little pond syndrome. if we don’t manage to cope without him. that would be a shame. jedi or samba will be picked. but watching england under southgate he had big balls playing a few youngsters in both friendlies. centre back as well, i think bruce needs to be brave, maybe our youngsters can cope and are the better options. both jedi and samba are man mountains, but they aren’t mobile enough. terry is wise enough not to get caught in a foot race with the opposition speedster too often. will samba and jedi be able to do the same. i say stick a kid in watching them in preseason we have a few able to replace terry and do a good job.

    1. We have to turn to our youngsters now. O hare def needs to play he should be starting in place on Onomah anyway

      1. i agree with you. but we also need to protect them. don’t over use them. but they are capable of playing this level. they have more ability than most players in this division. they just need a platform to showcase their skills.

  8. I think Sulliman should be thrown in, or at least make the bench. No reason why he shouldn’t get a chance.

Think if it’s between the two likely ones though, Jedinak should start next to Chester. His positioning is better and he can read the game a hell of a lot better than Samba can. Samba’s only attribute is his size.

QPR are a very interesting side. They go from drawing 2 of the worst sides in the league in Bolton and Sunderland, to beating the top 2 sides in Wolves and Sheffield United, to getting smashed by Forest.

  9. for once i agree with the above statement, youth players like davis are never gonna make the step up until they are given a chance. sulliman has been in our youth set up and england set up for years. he has good all round game and able to play out of defence. unlike most of the centre backs of days gone past. centre backs in this day and age need to be able to pass out under pressure unlike the old nonsense defending row z or punt down field.

bruce will play it safe with the more experienced players. but davis has shown the way. sometimes a little risk taking may yield another gem. if we were in the premiership most of our youth players would be loaned in the championship. bruce might be holding them back too much. watching them in preseason and the cup games, we have some talented youth and they should be getting more of a look in.

the defeat at the hands of wednesday. we were never in that game, outclassed for all first half and only came into the game in terms making chances when grealish and ohare came on. game was lost and they never changed the result. but they both did more than we managed in the whole game before they arrived. grealish plays with his head up. looking to pass forwards. also with wednesday pressing grealish was able to get past his marker. ohare made runs was more busy he also crossed for samba tap in. that goal was made by grealish crossed by ohare.

final thought. next season if we fook up this season these kids will all be thrown in. because no sky handout will mean loads of cutting wages. so blood the youth in now at least they can get 20 minutes here and there preparing them for the future our future,

  10. we need to play safe until Terry and Kodjia come back – grind out some results and protect our Terry-less back 4. 451 /4411 will do the job – we created loads at Blues when we did it the other week.
    Johnstone
    Elmohmady Chester Elphick/Samba Taylor
    Snodgrass Whelan Jedinak Adomah
    Hourihane or Onomah
    Davis

This formation also did well against Norwich at home.Six points from the next three will keep us ticking over.

    1. Bruce is a first class Cockwomble! Fancy letting an injured striker go out in international duty. Bruce has to go he’s a clown

  11. arsenal /spuds draw palace/everton draw cardiff home wednesday home and wolves away 2 pounds pays 140.00 i have been on form lately. but the internationals might have disrupted me.

its unfortunate to lose players and annoying when they pick up the niggles when away playing for their countries. but we have a big squad all earning good money time to earn your crust. like oohahaha posted earlier ohare created two for england and will make the step up into the first team with villa given the chance just like davis

  12. Already know Bruce is going to use the injuries as an excuse to cover up his poor management and tactics. We still should have more than enough against the three teams coming up. Has to be 9 points otherwise automatic hopes are finished in November and that would be a disgrace

  13. What a surprise Ohaha and jv both make an appearance when we were losing. Now we’re winning there’s no sign of them.

And they call themselves Villa fans. #laughable.

    IN BRUCE I TRUST.

    UTV.

    1. Well I have to admit I never saw that coming easily the best result since Brice joined us and played good football at times too

    2. its more laughable that you have to keep changing your name to post,we beat qpr so we beat preston couple weeks ago and some wet themselves that night praising bruce what happened since

      1. Paranoid as well as brainless. Your future is bleak.

BADGER, CAN YOU TELL THIS MORONIC IDIOT THAT I’M THE ORIGINAL B6. HE’S CONVINCED HIMSELF I’M LANGFORD.

Every time Villa win his weekend is ruined. Unfortunately for him he’s going to have a lot more ruined weekends for the next 6 months or so.

        1. badger
why do let poster use language like that on here, typical bully hide behind a cover, how many different accounts doyou have 5 likes every time laughable
andrew called you out few weeks ago and he was right just a bully boy

          1. JVillan, I can confirm that B6 is the original poster, who was banned for a while, a fair time back.

I’ve seen nothing wrong in his comments here to justify banning him again.
And as far as I can tell, he’s not duplicately posting.

            Maybe the “likes” are justified??

That said, maybe we can moderate the tone a little?

            B6, stay cool, mate 🙂

It’s all about opinions and we need to express them in the right manner.

          2. badger
as far as i am aware when you type something in print that is shouting and calling some one moronic is really something a bully would do a keyboard warrior allright
we have just picked up7points from previous 15 oohah made first comment today after we went behind i agreed yet the bully doesnt write comments on oohah wonder why he would get banned on any other site

            1. Jvillan,
I think Oohaah is a cock-end when it comes to the Villa, so I don’t see what he has to do with anything?

My opinion says we’ll have arguments, especially where Bruce is concerned.
I’d ask that you accept that and put your point.

Otherwise, I’m not going to debate it anymore.

As long as it’s civil, it’s allowed.
              And in fairnes, I have pulled B6, haven’t I?

    1. Best win we’ve had since Bruce joined us imo. Especially with our injuries and going a goal down

      1. Well done you Villa boys! Just keep beating what’s in front of us. Not sure how our Icelandic player even gets in the squad, let alone on the pitch.

  14. Nice win away after being behind. That doesn’t happen very often. I’m still no Bruce fan but by all accounts that was a decent performance.

  15. Fair point Badger, my tone will be moderated. Thank you for confirming me as the original poster B6.

JV, if you took my rant in capital letters personally, then that speaks volumes. However, I’ll try and remember not to type in capitals anymore, your weekends are miserable enough without me throwing fuel onto the flames. 🙂

I just don’t get how some who claims to be “supporters” can constantly be so negative and critical in everything that happens at the club.

As a club the between the period between 2010 and 2016 was without argument the darkest most living Villa fans would of experienced.

Now we have an Owner, manager and board who are slowly turning the fortunes of the club around.

Why Bruce may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the bloke is getting us the results. He’s brought stability to the club. We are winning games, we have a squad that is settling down and we have a squad that WILL and ARE challenging for promotion back to where we belong.

No matter who the manager is, if results are positive in a results based business then for me and more than likely most folk the manager could be anybody. He’s clearly doing his job therefore deserves the support from fans.

It was always going to be a long journey back, lets enjoy that journey.

    IN BRUCE I TRUST.
