Good debate. Its right, the Sky4 and more, will find ways around these FFP rules, ManC already have. And how on earth have Real Madrid been able to buy Bale, there £500m in debt, where’s the FFP in that ffs? So if we are not going to join them, what do we do? You have to build a squad and as I see it that’s exactly what we are doing. Some of the new signings won’t work, like Bennett and notice, he hasn’t been given a contract extension, he and others will be moved on next season as we build the team. Then a new crop of players will be brought in and likely only 50% of them will be of the quality we expect and so it will go on. In the meantime, our squad gets better, our style of play gets better, our results gets better. Happy Days.

Madrid can handle it, their revenue surpasses everyone, They just announced again record breaking revenue. Plus they sold Ozil, Higuain, Albiol and Callejon for around 100m together. That’s how they can afford him, however transfers simply aren’t the only way.

Problem is the quality ones will always be sold to sky 4 because we will never be able to match their wages and win things

Real Madrid’s revenue totals €520.9 million, its net profit amounts to €36.9 million, and its net debt has shrunk by 27.4%,” the statement said. “Real Madrid closed the 2012-13 fiscal year with a turnover of €520.9 million, 1.3% more than in the previous period, thus becoming the only sports entity in the world in far surpassing the €500 million revenue barrier for the second consecutive year. Earnings before taxes total €47.7 million, 47.8% more than in the previous period while net profit is €36.9 million, 52.4% above the previous fiscal year.”
“such ‘top-line debt’ figures can be misleading as they includes things like season-ticket sales for the upcoming campaign, and transfer fees not scheduled to be paid in that year’s accounts. “

Weren’t we linked with Popov? Hope Lambert’s watching him, he’s been very good. Tonev made a brilliant run, watered pitch so hard to take the shot but got it off anyways. Too bad it was at Buffon.

Already posted this ages ago but it never came up for some reason but here it is again

If you can’t be positive about the way we are running tings now then u won’t be until we are spending 50-100 mill and sending the club into oblivion! That’s what terry nd ooh vlar want short term plans that are not sustainable, in other words they want to destroy villa! And i hate all this unknown bollox, the players we signed are only unknown to premier league fans especially ones like ooh vlar and terry who constantly complain about the premier league and sky 4 Blah Blah Blah but all they do is watch premier league football, helenius- best player in the danish league last season, kojock- top scorer in the Europa league, okore-champ league experience and wanted by top clubs in Europe, luna- known to anybody who watches la liga. So hardly unknowns! BUT i am not completely positive, all our signings i hav no doubt hav potential and most will come good, my problem is that none of the players we signed besides maybe okore improve our 1st team, i have no doubt our squad is stronger but is our starting 11? I don’t tink so except for the improvement of Delph, next season i would like to see us buy more ready made quality, i don’t mean even experienced players like ooh vlar wants, rent Barry for 5 mill a year and play him CH hahaha, i mean buy young players that are already quality but will improve even more, sure they will cost 10 mill or more but in 3 years or so could be worth 2 or 3 times that so still cost effective. That’s the only thing i hope Lambert will do but not sure he actually will which worrys me cause if we keep doin what we are doin now we will stay a mid table team at best.

So Welbeck is out of the Ukraine match, unlucky with booking for continuing play after whistle for offside. Can we call in another striker, Gabby anyone? Welbeck’s goal reminded me of what Gabby can do.

Changing the subject has anyone seen the cheek of Alan Hutton gobbing off to the press today about how he has been treated?

2 week fine minimum please Lambert….get £90k back on the bank balance or better still donate to Acorns for genuine human beings who deserve and desperately need it…..

He needs to wind his neck in, he is still paid £45k per week, poor him. He is one of the worst footballers I have ever seen at Villa Park. Bosko Balaban is the worst, He is number 2. Djemba-Djemba is at 3.

Some points for him to think about while away with Scotland……..
    1) Did any club come in for him and offer to pay his full wages?
    2) Was he willing to take a wage reduction?
    3) Is he willing to cancel his contract and walk away from BMH/VP on a free transfer?

NO to all questions is that Mr Hutton? well go and rot in the reserves. You should never wear our claret and blue shirt again. You are a disgrace. Maybe Rangers will take you back in Scottish League 1?

Sorry but I am annoyed with this character…..

I feel positive about what Lambert’s doing and I actually believe he is instilling the financial discipline and sensible wage policy. Under AM I dont understand why PF sanctioned deals such as Shay Given when we were meant to be trimming the wage bill. PL has rewarded those that have performed. Only thing that puzzles me is the marginalisation of players which weakens our ability to move them on. That said it shows that PL has real conviction and self-belief and I can see him being a top manager. He also gets the best out of the players that have a good work ethic.

You have to back the manager, when he first comes in.

When you add in Hutton, it just goes to show how bad Faulkner and AM are, as judges of players.

Crap business, by a crap (insert what Faulkner is supposed to be here), coupled with a crap manager and an owner who had more important things on his mind, imo.

How I wish we could get someone like Levy in.
He even took the piss out of Real and made them look right mugs!.

It wasn’t so much Given as a player and can even accept his high wages but I just dont get the 5 year contract; I can understand 5 years for a young up and coming player because it increases his transfer fee (Bentekes extension has probably added £5m to his transfer value) but Given is towards the end of his career. You might say easy for me to say with hindsight but surely these are the type of decisions the board are entrusted to get right more often than not.
